It took three days for the fabricator to create parts for the drones and another month to get all the parts needed for the generator.
Then the construction began and according to the drones it would take two days to assemble the power generator.
Simon and Mikael didn't waste that time, they were busy collecting the materials needed for parts and in their spare time they studied the languages and data they downloaded from the database.
After so much time spent on learning the language they could both communicate in Federation common language although with some problems.
They also discussed and updated their plans for the future.
For instance, the moment the devices they wanted were complete they would get the parts for another fabricator and some to repair the one they had to 100%.
-Damn, kid, she left not even two months ago and we already have a generator built.
Mikael said while watching the drones installing the last parts of the machine.
-Very funny.
Simon answered.
-Actually it's not funny, it's terrifying .
We did more in those two months than I did in the last 50 years.
-It's not my fault that you are a lazy old man.
Simon said while laughing and Mikael joined the laughter.
At the same time the drones finished their work and the generator was completed.
-Lets fill it up and see if it works.
Mikael said.
They both were curious especially that it was their first device constructed from the database schematics.
They poured water inside until it was full and to do that they used 300 liters of water.
Simon connected the fabricator to the generator and Mikael started it up.
It took a couple of tries but the generator went online.
The fabricator now had enough power to produce parts three times faster and they had the energy to spare.
Simon reconnected the chargers back to the science vessel to gain access to the database and the fabricator started producing parts for the water collection device.
It was quite expensive to buy 300 liters of water every week to sustain the power generator so the decision was made to build 4 water collectors.
The one scraper drone they had was working nonstop to provide the materials but in the end they had to provide most of them.
-I've been thinking lately on our plan to repair a ship and I think it would be better and easier to just build one from scratch using the technologies we found here and the database.
Simon said one evening.
-We might be able to do that but we cant produce the parts this big with what we have.
-We can probably build a larger fabricator.
-Wouldn't that require even more power ?
Mikael asked.
-That's the problem with this plan.
Simon answered.
-Then why don't we just rebuild a ship instead of starting from scratch?
-That's a brilliant idea, old man.
We won't have to start from nothing and if we rebuild it instead of just repairing then we can add more things to the design.
Simon was enthusiastic about this idea.
-Don't get ahead of yourself kid.
Either Way we still need a bigger fabricator, some of the parts are big and we need to be able to produce the armor plating for the haul and engine parts not to mention that we need a dock to build it in,we have a lot of work ahead of us if we want to escape.
Mikael said.
-We also need to solve the fuel problem, those engines use helium 3 as a fuel but even if we know where to find it we just can't get there to collect any of it.
This was the greatest problem they faced, the other materials they would find somewhere on this planet but the fuel they needed was in space.
Even if they did build a ship, they were toasted without the fuel.
-Actually there might be a way to get some fuel but we will have to wait with that.
For now let's focus on building our devices and we will worry about the fuel later.
Mikael said without explaining his plan.
The water collectors were simple devices so they were ready in two days.
They collected 20 liters of water each, everyday and they didn't use much power.
The next construction was postponed for a day and that time was used to create 25 scraper drones.
That lessened the workload of Simon and Mikael giving them more time to study and train.
Then they started to build a drone network center and it would take three days to get the parts and another day to build it.
Simon found many more useful blueprints but if he wanted to build all of them it would take years.
So he decided that the moment his ship was ready he would download all the data so when he got back to earth he could share it with the whole planet.
He also found a weakness in almost all the ship designs on the database.
-All the ships on this database are only shielded against plasma and energy weapons.
He said to Mikael when they were discussing the weapons for their ships.
-Are you sure? This is a big flaw in their designs if this is the case.
-I am sure and their hulls are made from some sort of ceramic alloy so any kinetic
weapons are deadly to them.
-Then how do they defend themselves against small meteorites and such?
-They have point defense lasers for that, so if i'm right then the weapon i found in the database could potentially take them out with ease.
-And what is that weapon?
-Magnetic Accelerator Cannon or MAC for short.
It uses a series of electromagnets to accelerate the shell to great speeds and the shell uses its kinetic energy to destroy the target.
-Then what about missiles?
-There are some blueprints for them but i think that the point defense lasers will shoot most if not all of them down.
-Then all we have on them is a possibility that they can't defend against Kinetic weapons.
-Actually there is another weapon but it might be impossible to build on this planet.
-Ok let's think about it when we get to building our ships, for now we have to concentrate on learning and building all the devices we will need.
The old man ended the topic.
The devices they had built were just the beginning stages of their plans.
They were still far away from even starting to rebuild any ship so there was still a lot of time to think about weapons and the rest of the systems they would need to go home.
