Chapter 33: Foreboding
Kai is saddened by the rejection. Somehow he feels worse than that time when he found out the Wang family is his family. He is comforting himself "I am only 15, there's plenty of time."
Going back to his research, he drew a blueprint for a sword. A flying sword. Coming out of space to sleep at last, it was already 2 am. In the morning after breakfast, Kai got a call from Paige. It has been three days after she gave her father the medicine and he recovered.
He is better than ever, however what Kai heard from Paige's tone, she is not very happy about it. Her father is very grateful to her but he also started having more sex with her stepmother which has improved their relationship.
As a result, Paige thinks her dad is too healthy. Which she blames on Kai. The man had problems with his kidneys before so it must have been a long time since they enjoyed sex.
Kai sent the three smart bracelets as promised to Qingyu and canceled on their plans because for some reason he wasn't feeling well all morning and there is a pit on his stomach like the weight of a bad feeling.
He decided to stay at home to watch movies and eat popcorn as if he is in the cinema. He laughed and cried with the characters on tv until he heard a knock on the door. Wang Chen came knocking and this time he is alone.
"So, are you friends with that Huo Jun guy?" Wang Chen asked Kai
"No, we have a business relationship that is not too close." Kai looked at Wang Chen who just showed up in his home all of a sudden.
"They Huo family knows you are Fat brain."
"I know." Kai said surprising him.
"They are very powerful Kai, you need to e careful."
"Now you care? Fine I will wat h my back." Kai said when she heard his words.
Just then, a thunderous storm sounded from outside and a hale storm hit the city hard. The crazy thing is that not happened in the entire world at the same time. This is the most bizarre thing to have ever happened.
On top of that, the news reported a strange phenomenon of people dropping to the ground and becoming unconscious all of a sudden. Kai and Wang Chen looked at each other and they both had the same thoughts in their heads. It's the apocalypse.
"We have been sitting like this fir a long time, do you think this rain will stop anytime soon?" Wang Chen got off his phone having been talking to his father using the smart bracelets. The internet has shut down and only the news channel is working.
The temperature dropped several degrees below zero and the rain of ice stopped. But it became very cold. Kai is surprised by this because Wang Ning had said it will be very hot and then there will be endless snow. What is happening now?
This is what happens when you trust the words of a crazy stalker who claims to know the future.
"I love it. Thank you nanny. You can make another for him too." Kai thanked his maid fir his hot coco and pointed at Wang Chen who is watching a movie seriously.
The night came but Kai asked Manny to take Wang Chen home and protect him from harm. Manny can scan the perimeter and react to any situation if zombies start attacking Wang Chen, he can take care of it.
Wang Chen realized that Kai doesn't want him sleeping at his home. It broke his heart but he can't really blame Kai. Manny didn't talk to him all the way but he is a robot what would he talk to him about?
Kai had to wake up and visit the warehouse for the equipment of making beer the next city the next day. Luckily the ship had made it somehow and Kai paid two times the already expensive fee for transportation.
He took all the items into his space, now he just needs to transport it. After riding June, he came across the place were he was doing his community service and so it collapsed structure. It must have been the storm.
Many people were unconscious from that strange phenomenon and the remaining people were looking after them. The help they were waiting for didn't come all day and many of them may die from the freezing cold.
Kai went to speak to the management and they were really helpless. "This place is too old and was bound to fall off some day, it is lucky that no one got hurt but we are really swamped at the moment."
"How many people are there?" Kai asked.
"178 heathy but crippled. 15 unconscious and 19 with fever from the cold."
"How about I help put the ones with fever in my place while you figure out the rest?" Some of the people with the fever are Xiao Ming his first friend here, Beatrice and Li Jun and he didn't want them to get hurt.
The shelter used the truck to transport them and Kai put them on blankets in the gym, the two guest rooms in the first floor and the one downstairs. He didn't need extra help and gave the manager that he got along with a smart bracelet to communicate and keep them updated on the condition of the 19 people.
Kai knew that three of these people are going to be overwhelmed by demonic energies but he didn't panic. He used the spiritual spring water to cleanse their systems and made purifying medicine and soon the black fog surrounding them thinned and disappeared.
Kai kept up for two days but the outside world was not peaceful. He gave the fasting pills to the patients and when he knew all of them were fine, he went to watch the news.
He became shocked to know that the hospitals are really all full. Kai had thought that the shelter was just stingy on medical fees and didn't send the people to the hospital. It turns out they are very full with people having fever or being just unconscious.
Kai decided to make many cleansing pills that will assist in chasing away the devil energy. The problem is that he didn't know how to make the hospital take him seriously so he had no choice but to call Huo Jun.
"Hey."
"Hello."
"You saw the energy surrounding the patients right?"
"Yes." Cold as ever.
"I have something that will help."
"Are you sure?" Huo Jun sounded surprised.
"The world spirit qi is flooding the atmosphere in an unnatural pace some people's spirits are not strong enough and because the spiritual energy overloading the world is not all good, the bad energy will take over whomever can not handle the process."
"My medication can purify the energy and strength the body's natural power to fight invasive disease, spiritually and physically."
"How can I help?"
"I have made a few thousand of these, all you need is to give them to the patients in time. Before they start being consumed by the devil qi."
"Meet me at the Iowa hospital." Huo Jun said.
"I need you guys to look after the patients in the house. If anyone of them starts having these symptoms lock them in the bathroom on the ground floor." Kai took out 7 nannies and mannies.

"Are you sure about this? Our family's reputation depends on this." Huo Jun asked Kai one last time. They distributed the pills and Huo Jun saw the devil energy around the patients thin out and disappear a few moments later. A while later, the pills made it to most hospitals.
Kai went back home and made more pills but he is only one man and soon the pills were given to most unconscious people because normal people couldn't see the devil energy they didn't see any difference.
The central Beijing city got the pills but the rest of the world did not. A few days passed by and all those who received pills woke up without major problems except hunger and slight dehydration. Others remained unconscious and the city knew why there is a difference.
Soon the reputation of the Huo family was boosted. Huo Jun called Kai to ask if he has more but Kai had used his own drones to distribute the pills all over the country's largest hospitals. He gave more pills according to the size of the hospital.
More and more people were saved in the name of the Huo family even though it was not enough it is still better than before. While the rest stayed unconscious, the first crisis arrived. The weather is said to be very hot the next couple of days.
This was no lie. The weather heated up very fast and in two days it became unbearable. The sick people woke up but most were very sick from fever after waking up and then the weather got even hotter. Most of the sick people died during this period.
Many blamed the Huo family that they didn't have enough medication for everyone. But that didn't stir up too much trouble because soon food shortage became a problem.
During all this up and downs Kai is staying peacefully with his guests. They woke up with the first batch and they have been getting healthier as time goes by. Kai didn't mention the issue of them leaving because the outside world is quite chaotic fir now.
There is no way the government would have fixed their collapsed building yet. He didn't mind the company. The villa is very lively with these guys there are two living rooms and both have large tv screens. Kai went out during the night for shopping.
He kept a large jar of fasting pills for them in the kitchen and the fridge is full of food if they want to cook. They were not comfortable eating for free like this at first but Kai told them it's up to them.
He went out and came back with bunk beds for the guests the girls can sleep in the bedroom downstairs since there is four of them Kai put two bunk beds. Two will share the big bed while two sleep on a bunk bed.
He did the same upstairs luckily the bedrooms are big enough. Kai has robots to cook and clean the rooms so he doesn't have to worry about hygiene. The clothes are washed by the maids.
Kai decided to not have anyone staying upstairs in the second floor for his peace of mind. At least they have TVs and the gym. Kai has his suite, the two empty rooms and a study in the second floor.
He will keep them like that for now. Kai is sure that something bad will happen soon. The weather kept up with the hot weather. People suffered from heat stroke everyday. Water ran out from the dams and cattle died in the country side.
Soon electricity and water got cut and only open at few hours a day. Ming called Kai to have a small meeting.
"We have stayed here for free all this time and we don't feel right about it. We would like to go back and help with the construction of the retirement home." Beatrice said in a strong tone.
"I understand that you guys are honorable soldiers and you worry that you are taking advantage of me since there is shortage of food and water in the city." Kai sighed.
"I have enough food and water to feed you and myself for a while without starving to death. But if you guys want to go and help you can go. But I recommend that those who are not able to help should stay behind." Kai said yawning.
"I am going to sleep." Kai stood up. "You can go with the fasting pills. I will give you a better container so it doesn't melt in the sun." He didn't see the group's appreciative expressions.
The next morning evening when the sun had come down they all left in a large truck that Kai gave to them. He also donated a few guns, knives and a lot f water for them. When they showed surprise at the weapons he smiled.
"Shortage of food and water, you are all retired and crippled. Thieves will come for your supplies sooner or later." Kai let them go. Even the ones who can not help decided to leave out of pride.
Kai narrowed his eyes. He wonders if these people will regret their decision in the future?
