Chapter 38: Simulator
Kai is aware that he is holding something valuable inside his space so he has to be careful on who he lets into his life. He left the retreat center and went back home in a very tired state. When he got home he went into his room and fell asleep.
When he got up two days later he still had to take a soul nourishing pill just to be able to stand up from the bed. Soul power is really hard to recover.
"Kai went inside the space and found everyone bathed and dressed neatly. He picked a flat land and used his mind to construct a large manor. With an already existing blueprint it because easier to just imagine what he wanted to build.
The place became a stone house with no tiles, wooden doors or ceilings. He left that job to the knew recruits.
When he is done creating a large castle like manor that can accommodate a few hundred people, he called the new recruits and they just automatically stood in a line. Soldiers, so disciplined.
"I want you guys to put the finishing touches on this house." When he looked at them they seem taken aback. "What is it?"
"It is a castle." Xi Jun said with wide eyes.
"I may have copied someone else's blueprint of an ancient structure. Just work on the window frames, doors and the floor tiles. I will find tiles and glass. But you all don't have to do the actual work because I have working robots as you can see." Kai pointed at the busy people in the factories, the fields and the warehouses.
"Master, are you saying these hard working but silent people are robots?" Ru is a woman. She is 32 years old and now looks 25 with all her limbs intact.
"They are robots I manufactured. Aren't you curious why they never rest?" Kai asked them.
"We thought they are slaves. Like us." Xi Jun said.
"You lot are the first people I have allowed into this space. They don't need to rest because they are robots and just need energy to function." He explained.
"But master, I don't mean to question your words, but I am curious as to how they can look like humans?" Tan Bo asked curious.
"I created an artificial skin, bones and muscles. The only thing that is different from humans is that they don't have blood. I didn't have the patience to make my creation bleed." Kai self mocked.
They understood that Kai already has the ultimate working army. Master, why would you recruit us? I mean they seem very efficient plus they don't need to be fed." Xiao Ming asked on the side.
Kai hesitated to answer but decided to do it after he sighed and made up his mind. "I recruited you guys because I have created a kind of chip that will revolutionize computers technologies today. But I didn't want to put it inside a robot that I can not bind with a slave mark to not betray me." Kai explained.
"Is master planning on making us merge with the chip?" Tammy asked wearily.
"You don't have to. Your specialty is that you are soldiers who have been to war. I will need you all to lead my robot army. But first I need you to come with me. Your transformation is not complete." Kai took them into one of his spirit food warehouses.
"Those are mysterious fruits which will increase the capacity of your brain. This way I can allocate a small army for each of you to practice commanding. Currently, there are 5789 cleaning robots inside the space and I have make 4000 look like humans while 1294 have nearly indestructible limbs. You will be responsible for instructing them on different tasks." Kai said.
"Eat one of these fruits after you are resting on your bed. I will get you electricity wires so you can connect the Payne battery into the castle." Kai continues.
"After you wake up you may use these. I had them made a while a go before making the formless chip. These are colonels rings. When you have eaten the mental fruit you can bond with one ring by bleeding on it." Kai gave them a smaller version of the commander ring.
"This ring allows you to command less than 500 robots. But for now you may only connect to 20 robots each." Kai cautioned.
Kai left them be as he is still no where near the place where he is supposed to be with the formless chip. It is supposed to be injected into some of the new recruits but he can't bring himself to do it. What if they die and he loses a capable soldier to send to battle? It would be an unnecessary waste of resources.
Kai needs a general, the one who will make decisions in his absence and have complete control over his army should the need arise but such a person will have to go through a painful process of synchrony where the chip integrates into the person's body and transform it into something transcendent and not of this world.
This process is painful and a lesser man would die in the first three minutes. Kai thinks he knows what do do. Go out and find the one, a survivor. Someone who has gone to hell and it spit them back out after forging them with hell fire.
He decided to leave again. This time he will go to the worst place in the world. Lunchcan international prison. It is the only prison where foreign criminals are kept.
Kai found Tang Mai sitting on a couch looking through a magazine. "Where are you going?" She asked Kai but he is not paying attention to her.
She stood up and put an old photo of Kai on the table. "You didn't tell me you were fat."
"Why would I?" Kai came back to his senses and frowned.
"You are at least three times bigger than me. It would make me feel thinner." The girl said with a smile.
"I told you what you need to lose weight. I have somewhere to go." Kai opened the door and left.
The outside world has quickly gone to cinders. The stores are being robbed every night and the jails are becoming crowded so the police are just imposing curfew and clearing the streets of people and no one is allowed to be outside in groups.
It is a good plan but they can not keep doing it like this for too long. Not to mention the man power is not enough to cover the entire country. Most parts are not covered and the people are suffering. Kai needs to find these kinds of people.
He decided to go to the last county town in the map. The reason he went there is because there is a large factory producing different types and sizes of tiles, glass and cement. When Kai got there,the factory is closed so he called the number on line.
He called the phone and a voice of what sounds to be a middle aged man answered. "Hello."
"I would like to buy all your stock of tiles, glass and the rest. How many does your factory have on stock?" Kai asked.
"Too many. Most importantly I have no need for money. But if you manage to change it into food packets and water, I will sell to you." The man sounds tired, like he has been through a ruff time.
"Are you running for major?" Kai asked amused.
"No, but my workers are all from the county and something weird happened to the soil around here. The plants and crops suddenly died and became inedible. Whomever eats it dies."
"So you want to get them food and water for free? There is no hidden agenda?"
"There is, if I manage to get protection and supplies during this time, I can pay back all the salaries I haven't been able to pay the past two months and the people will stop threatening me and my family." He said with a cracking voice.
"I wasn't able to pay their wages because of a sudden drop in orders. People were only buying food during this time, as a result, the workers were unable to stock up on food during the time the government made an announcement. Now they blame all their family's misfortunes onto me."
"Even if I get them their money at this time, they won't be able to buy any food so it is better to get supplies." The man explained. Kai felt something hearing this story. He contemplated just stealing yhe items but he thought about the hundreds of billions worth of stock he stole from the Wen family at that time.
"I will get you the supplies you ask for at a very high price. 7 times the market value and I get all the stock you have. Give me the coordinates of the empty warehouse you want me to load with food and water."
"Re....really? Are you going to do what you say?" The man's voice trembled in fear that this is all a dream. He had just been talking his troubles not expecting anything to come of it.
"Meet me in your factory...." Kai said feeling frustrated that his plans to recruit more people is being pushed back.
"I can't leave my house. There are groups of people squatting all over my home." The man sounded desperate.
"I will get the key from someone at the gate and then I will go to get your supplies." Kai pretended to be mysterious and dropped the call.
He could steal the tiles but what if Wang Ning's crazy story about a zombie apocalypse doesn't come true? He doesn't want to be smeared with mud. He took out a robot he likes very much not only because of how beautiful he is but also becauseof how human like his expressions and gestures are.
The man has a swimmer's body with a pair of long sword like eyebrows, sharp eyes and pouty red lips.
"Master. How may I serve?"
Kai frowned. "Where did you hear this?"
"The Senior sister is my godess teenage drama about immortal cultivation you downloaded for me." He said in an alluring voice.
"I need you to do something for me." Kai instructed him to go and get a key from the factory owner's house. Zhai Lin looked at the outside world for the first time and cringed.
Kai looked at him and became convinced that Zhai Lin is a man of grace and power. He is good with sword fight and is very talented in the art of dancing. Kai was able to allow him to achieve this with the help of the flexible metal under his artificial skin.
After creating the simulation program and the liquid chip, the previous method of downloading videos and knowledge into the system of the robots can now be assimilated instaead.
The robots are able to assimilate into the actions and display of emotions depicted by the actors in a video. This is how Zhai Lin learned to dance so perfectly and act like a neat freak, powerful immortal who is fond of art and can fight like a demon if need be. It was taken from a movie.
The program worked so well it made Kai fear that if he gave the liquid chip to the robots and they started developing, they will be an unstoppable force should they decide to go against humans. This is why he decided to recruit slaves instead.
Zhai Lin had been his test subject at that time because he realized that even with theflexible limbs and human like speech, the robots couldn't portray human emotions. They are okay when acting alone but if he ever took them out in a group and they all show flat expressions at the same time it will seem like they are zombies and he will be burnt at the stake.
But after successfully creating the similator it freaked him out. He didn't want to be hunted down by a time traveling group of assassins who want to prevent apocalyptic future by killing his younger version.
That is the big thing that he has been feeling anxious about these days that he is willing to have slaves if it means they can control the robots he created and report to him if anything suspicious arise.
The crazy thing is that inside the program is billions of movies to help each robot pick an appropriate expression. Kai conducted tests on behavioral reactions and the results astounded him.
For instance at this moment Zhai Lin has been given a mission. Any surprising situations that may arise will be dealt with by him in a manner that does not jeopardize the main mission. Case in point...
Kai walked with Zhai Lin to the factory owner's mansion and waited a good distance away. It is indeed surrounded by thousands of people. They are wearing warm clothes and seem immovable. To stay outside through the harsh winds and cold snow like this means these people are desperate. Desperate humans are dangerous. Qq
"Who are you?" A man approached Zhai Lin seeing his state of the art combat suit. The man is very handsome and his eyes are sharp and deep.
"The owner of the house is expecting me." Zhai Lin responded with a cold tone. Being in a situation where thousands of people may trample you to death requires a calm expression. Even as he is seemingly at a disadvantage, he can not afford to show weakness.
Kai is watching and listing in and his creation's performance gives him the chills. He has to find a slave asap. He feels like he is being a pussy for not doing the experiment on the already existing slaves but Kai doesn't want to change a soldier into something else.
Soldiers train and work hard to make use of their bodies in the most efficient way. Kai doesn't have instructors to teach them knew moves if he changes their already existing bodies. It will be like he recruited someone without the experience of a trained soldier.
