Chapter 42: Hording Supplies
Kai wore one of the uniforms complete with the face mask and combat boots. He ran on the street since there is no hidden spot where he can take out June and ride him without drawing attention to himself.
Kai took to the skies on top of June and headed toward the international old depo in the south of the country that is where the large trucks full of oil come to load and travel all over the country various gas stations. Kai hot all of these on the internet when he was planning for the upcoming apocalypse.
The large facilities have several thousands of oil in tanks. The zombies stiffly walking around looking for food didn't bother him. He used his spirit power to check for any survivors. He had put on a different face and wore different clothes consisting of a three piece suit and imported leather shoes.
She walked in with a signal hammer and emptied 13 warehouses of hundreds of thousands in oil and gasoline. There are still 28 warehouses of the same size so he didn't take too much. He will came back in a year or so and take everything it they are not able to move it all away. There re 1600 survivors in this place. The apocalypse started at night, why were they here? Overtime?
Deciding it is not his business, he left for the only known armor factory in the country. Although Kai found several others when he dug deeper. Out of luck, the factory is overly protected but the good news is that many of the people turned and now many posts are not guarded.
Forming a plan in his head, he went to the next location on the list. There, he took several heavy duty armored vehicles and two tanks. Its amazing that as his strength grows, his space expands as well. He stole several heavy duty trucks that can transport 30 to 45 people. He took 30 of them and 52 fast heavy runners four seater.
There are several more left behind but he raided their warehouses for tools and spare parts. These are indispensable during this time. Although he only took about 60 percent of the stock he is sure he will use these for the next few decades.
When he finally made it back to the armor factory he got ready to act. Sneaking in a signal jammer, he sent out his spirit power and noted the location of the guns. He also found an interesting underground storage warehouse with state of the art guns, and other weapons such as grenades.
Kai is a VIP in the back seat with a professional driver. There are two trucks following slowly in the back. When they made it to the gate, they were not stopped by anyone. Kai thought he would come across a huddle and have to deal with it.
He released Ye Ling and Ye Lang to go and steal guns into their space rings. Since the cameras are off, the two worked swiftly after receiving a signal to start.
Kai went in and met the group of people who seem to be in charge of the place. They are each carrying a rifle as soon as Kai's bogy guards got out of the trucks and one of them opened the door for him, the people have long pointed their guns on them.
Kai didn't show any panic and walked to them. "Friends, I was told I will be welcome by Mr. Kim. How come I don't see him amongst you?" Kai put on a thick accent from the states on his words.
"Who are you?" A man in the group surrounded by armed men asked Kai.
"I am from the Jun family of Piafan city. I have traveled a long distance to keep this appointment. Why don't you call Mr. Kim so I can get on my marry way? More of my people are coming because I had to leave them behind to make the appointment." Knowing the signal is jammed and they can't look for the man in charge, Kai spoke nonsense.
The people in the factory are eyeing his truck with covetous eyes, this is exactly what he was hoping for. "Mr. Jun, the boss is not in and will probably not come in because of the sudden zombies attacking everywhere."
"Oh?" Kai frowned looking like he doesn't believe this man.
"Yes let me show you." The man had a cruel glint in his eyes and led Kai through a long corridor to 'show' him the monsters. What Kai is excited about is that this is the direction of the place with what he came here for.
When they made it to the end, the man opened the door with the key and pushed Kai inside before attempting to close the door behind him but Kai pulled him along and used him as a throwing stone.
He ran toward the first zombie stabbing between the eyes and decapitating the next. His lightning body allowed him swift movements in a couple of moments he is standing alone surrounded be seven zombies actually dead corpses.
He finished his task fairly well but then he got hit by a nauseating stench from the blood of zombies and the fact that this is a closed space. Kai doubled over and wrenched.
The man from before is laying down unconscious from the fright. Not to mention the man is already being infected from a series of scratches. He took a moment to take note that he has essentially killed a man today. Instead of feelingremorse or guilt, Kai feels nothing about it.
That is nor because the man did something against him but Kai feels nothing about the series of events that led to the man's death. That neutral state of emotion did not last as he looked through the man's set of keys and and finding one that opens the secret storage warehouse. He felt accomplished. As if his careful considerations and planning had paid off. Especially when he found blueprints of the designs for the weapons.
What interested Kai is the stock of the laser beam guns that is just as numerous in the lower storage through this factory station. Kai had wanted to access this place and didn't have the key this was the reaseon he pulled rhe supervisor inside with him.
He had hoped the greed for his truck will drive these people to be all that they can be. He didn't waste time taking all the guns and their energy cassettes with him.
Kai used his recording devices after turning off the signal jammer to take down the outline of the place. He opened the door and entered another place with the computers, he started to copy all the data on the manufacturing of guns and especially the light beam machine gun with each shot carrying the power of a sniper rifle.
Kai practically emptied this storage warehouse and about 60 percent of the large factory warehouses along with his two accomplices. This place is very large just as the area he previously got gas from. Kai wanted to retire after this round of looting.
The people who were expecting their 'supervisor' to emerge on his own got very scared when they saw Kai coming out covered in black blood holding a long knife. They raised their guns no doubt taken from the factory and pointed toward Kai.
"Stay back, give us truck your keys and you don't have to die." One shouted at Kai but a few seconds later he laid on the ground unconscious, he got hit at the back of the head by the driver who seems harmless to humans and animals. Kai met the twins by the main gates and they left this place.
Kai's phone rang and he answered it. "Kai, can you come and get me? My dad he....ate my stepmother and now he wants to eat us too." Paige sounds scared and aslo like she has been crying.
"Where is your father now?" Kai asked her.
"We managed to lock him in the master bedroom after puling out Stepmother but the door won't hold for too long." Kai hears the loud growls and something hitting against wooden door through the crying Paige and presumably her half sister.
"Did you say your stepmother was beaten?" Kai asked.
"Yes, can you help us take her to the hospital?" She sniffle.
"Get away from her now!" Kai said but the girl is confused.
"Get away from the bitten woman Paige. She will turn too." Kai cautioned.
"Alright but Lulu is holding the cloth to stop the bleeding."
"Pull her away or leave her there. Your choice." He heard arguments from the other side and the phone got disconnected. Shrugging, he went to the place were he can get furniture.
Before he can get to the largest furniture warehouses in the country he came across the fifth platoon of the South west provinces military headquarters. The wolf in the sky dived and landed a good distance away.
The reason Kai came here is because every notional military headquarters have a reservoir to protect. He just needs to know if there is one near this one and if it is possible for him to get a share.
He sent his spirit power and found the military camp in a mess. The people from the neighboring areas have flocked into the camp looking for protection but in doing so they let in some of the infected people.
Chaos started when those people turned and started eating the living. The soldiers had infected people as well and it just became a mess but the general is very skilled.
His name is Zheng and he is from a family of generals. He instructed the soldiers to open the main gate and the panicking people ran out followed by the zombies who wanted to each their flesh.
Kai looked on with a disturbed expression as zombies reached some of the fleeing people and started gnawing on their flesh. Some would fall and the zombies would stay and feast on them. Kai is looking at a group of zombies pulling out a man's intestines eating with relish.
It wouldn't be to disturbing if he wasn't also able to smell the stench from the zombie's mouth. As they open their mouths, a black smelly substance which seems acidic in nature comes out. That combined with the smell of a man's innards is too much on a regular Wednesday.
Kai noted a few things.
First, the zombies are not very fast. Their bodies are not flexible enough to chase someone in fast speed but they will never tire, this is how they ultimately triumph in the game of chase against the living.
Secondly, once a zombie get a hold of a living to eat they will never let them go. Mostly because their claws will be grabbing the person with tremendous strength. It is impossible for a normal person to free themselves from that iron grip.
Kai then turned his attention towards the general who seems very impressive. Even as his face is covered in cold sweat he is able to calmly give orders.
He has a massive force and the place itself can be enlarged into a base that can accommodate many people. Kai thinks this will probably be one of the bases in the future.
He is about to leave because he was unable to find the reservoir near here.
He turned and looked at the mess on the road. The cars are blocking the way, the crying humans are mostly infected and then there is the zombie army. Some are pushing large bellies as if they are nine months pregnant but they are still looking for food.
Kai felt nauseous thinking about how those large tummies are full of human meat. The ground is littered with severed limbs and fresh blood.
He made his way towards the port city with the largest port in the country. He found several cargos with fresh food.
It must have just came in through the sea. He calculated 17 with frozen fruits, meats, vegetables.
There's a nine containers full of fine wine and some common beverages such as spirit wine and cola. Even if he bathed in it, it can last him and his little army seven lifetimes.
On the other side of the port there are products such as skin care products and hair products. The place seemed deserted after he was done, he then went to get furniture, warm clothing and equipment.
Kai raided four general stores with every day tools and equipment like stoves, table cloth and silverware.
Feeling like he is being overly indulgent decided to go back home. But something unexpected happened when he got there, the Huo family is 'helping' those who are trying to gain entry into the villa area to a base for their own safety.
The nearby suburb residents must have flocked to this villa area since it has a high wall covering a large area so they figured they will be safe here. But the Huo family must have anticipated this action and they are showing them a direction to the national security base.
As he approaches the gate, the soldiers under the Huo family told him to "Turn around and go the the base with the general public."
These sly people are even providing the transport for the public to go toward the central city where a base has been hastily put together by the national security.
"No." Kai said moving around the soldier. But he is stopped by a rough hand around his throat and pushed back.
Kai snapped his fingers and 20 armed men and women in complete combat uniform came front and surrounded Kai. He then moved to the same man and took him by the throat like he had done to him but then lifted him up and brought him down harshly making a loud 'dud' sound as he his back hit the ground.
The soldier coughed blood but his eyes are blazing with a sinister fury. The people have stopped what they are doing and looked their direction.
The soldiers took out guns and pointed at Kai. His own small army also raised their guns. A stalemate. Although the soldiers have numbers, they are using the outdated small pistols while Kai's people are all carrying energy rechargeable automatic rifles. Each gun and fire more than 26 times.
He is waiting for the soldiers to shoot as he gets his lightning body ready.
