Chapter 48: Energy Source
Kai and his group worked throughout the day and night. It was not too taxing on Kai but he had to enter his space and make a replica of both factories. That was taxing but because he is genuinely interested in creating glass for his beverage business and the medical containers for his pills as an alchemist, he persisted.
The need for the factory that makes basic plastics is for the muscle tissue of his human like robot. Although there is still alot of work to beput in before it is turned into body material, this material is crucial. Kai made the same buildings inside and then left the machine installation to the professionals.
He instead studied the few zombie cores he managed to find today. The zombie core is impure and has a fair amount of the zombie virus but when one has a supernatural ability they can absorb the energy in the core to increase their own powers without much problem.
Kai had read about something called a spirit stone before, this led him start with this kind of experiment after he used the spirit water to clean the impure energy on the zombie core, he is able to optimize it's existing energy making it more useful than it's original form.
"I can not believe you ate it! What if you got sick?" Phil has to reprimand Kai for his foolish behavior sometimes.
"It was already pure and clean of the virus." Kai defended.
"Let's find out if it can be used as the new currency we were hoping for." He conducted several experiments with most of them being successful.
The first one was converting the energy into electricity. Kai was quick to replace the small compartment where an energy cassette is placed to recharge a laser gun. This improvement is even more useful for the masses.
"The gun's lethality has increased by 1/3 sir, congratulations." Phil said excitedly.
"The gun is not manufactured for this type of emo, it is heating up very fast. I will have to make an entire model for this type of energy source. The functionality should be even better at that time." Kai mused.
The Payne battery can replace the solar power with the zombie core without problems. Kai only had to add a new compartment and connect it to the wires and before long it was already working. Although the battery burns through the core faster than the solar power.
The work here will take many days. Kai had underestimated the size of this operation. Rebuilding the two factories alone had forced him to take another mental fruit. He is not rushing because he wants everything to be perfect.
The machines are installed as soon as they are transferred into space by another group. Kai has not been focusing on his cultivation because of his many prospects. He ended up making a plan with Phil to schedule his cultivation.
Meanwhile in the central base a massive army of zombies approached. After the base leaders have devided a plan of attack, the meeting had ended in a sour note. Those leaders who are without solid support are going to be used as cannon fodder and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
A few hours ago.
"May I help you?" Ye Lang stood in front of Huo Guo and his son. His large and intimidating stature casting a large shadow that covers both men.
"We are here to speak to Kai." Huo Guo said thinking 'when did such a large person come here?'
"Master is on the mission for hospital supplies. He said it can take weeks to a few months for him to come back."
"Did he take his men with him?" Huo Guo frowned.
"Yes." Ye Lang answered.
"May we speak to Huo Gin?" The older man asked but Ye Lang shrugged.
"I will ask." Ye Lang went to ask Huo Gin if she wants to talk to the Huo father and son. She came out but did not invite them inside.
"Walk us out." Huo Guo commanded. As they walked he asked her "Why haven't you reported anything since Kai is away, you must have had enough time to check his secrets." He asked her with a frown.
"I checked but there is nothing here. Even the basement just has a large cauldron for brewing medicine." She didn't tell them she couldn't take a single step on the second floor without catching a glimpse of the Ye Twins as if they are warning her.
"What about a recipe? Have you found one?" If they can make the medicine that Kai hasmd used to cure the unconscious people with devil energy they can make a considerable profit.
"There is no recipe in the house. He must have it in his space artifacts. Which means my trip here was all for nothing, not only will I get nothing out of it, I have lost my power." The tears she had shed that first time started falling again.
"This was an over sight but there is no going back now. You have to stay strong for the family. You will have to try and win him over." Huo Guo said to her. Kai is not a simple character for them to dismiss his forced engagement without suffering for it.
Having expected something like this to happen, Gin just nodded with eyes full of tears and sadness. The father and son left the villa. The entire time during this encounter Huo Jun didn't even ask how she is doing.
She stood in place feeling completely alone. The powerful families are kept in power by stepping on someone's back until it breaks and then replacing them with the next victim.
She always knew that her talent was probably not enough to be mrs. Huo but she had thought that at least it wouldn't happen because she would be dead.
Her thoughts were that her family would send someone to eliminate her for knowing too many secrets. This is something that could actually happen still as soon as they sense a shift in her allegiance.
They can't afford to have her turn against them and start telling Kai all their secrets. Huo Gin's mind is now racing coming up with scenarios. The conclusion she came up with is that they need her to marry Kai as soon as possible even if she dies after that.
Today they may have come to check if her allegiance has not been shifted to her target. If that is the case then they will decide to kill her now to prevent what she knows from coming out.
She feels like this is the ultimate test of how strong she can be. First she will distract Kai with other women and if he prefers boys she will find an excuse to bring them so that he doesn't bother her.
Then she will use his guilt to penetrate his defenses and get a glimpse of one or all of his secrets before proving her loyalties to her family. After that Kai may be destroyed and that hospital will belong to her family and she would have made it all happen.
This is a long under cover operation. She is ready to do her best. She is even more determined now that Kai took something from her. She is full of so much hate, she could drown the whole cenral base in it.
She turned around but saw Ye Ling standing behind her without moving. Surprised, she jumped back. "What are you doing?" Inside she is wondering how much of her conversation with the Huo father and son did this girl hear?
Is that why they are around all of a sudden? To spy on her? Kai seems to have thought of everything if that is the truth. Because of these twin, she hasn't so much as snoop around in Kai's villa. They always seem to come out and surprise her just as she is thinking of doing something.
"You have stood here for more than 8 minutes just starring at your clenched hands. I put that small blanket on your shoulder, you are now covered in snow, sickness at this time is not a good idea." Ye Ling said with a stoic expression.
Huo Gin looked at herself, there really is a blanket on her shoulders. It is now full of snow as well. She is covered but a moment ago she didn't feel it, "must have been lost in thoughts." Gin said in slight discomfort
"It happens, please come in now Mistress. " She turned and went inside, Gin followed but she is thinking if Kai had asked these servants to spy on her every move. She recognizes Kai's meticulous nature and internally admits that she needs to stay on guard.
The base faced off against the massive army of zombies. At first the soldiers stood on the unfinished wall and shot at the coming zombies. The sound of gunshots sounded throughout the city for a few hours until the zombies began climbing the wall using the corpses of the fallen zombies.
As soon as this happened the true nature of humans revealed itself. The national army wanted to teach these families a lesson and abstained from participating. They had made several demands that all the families refused to give into during the earlier meeting. The people fighting today are all civilians while the soldiers are no where to be found.
Many of these civilian fighters hid behind their comrades and pushed them to buy themselves time while others just ran away moving deeper into the base. The zombies are not fast runners but they never stop pursuit of their prey as long as there is the smell and sound for them to follow.
The powerful families sat back and watched as the population of the base dwindles and the zombie army increased. In truth, these families had devised a plan to reduce the current population by allowing the zombie army to enter the base and then trap the zombies to eliminate then.
It worked, many people died and some people turned but the leaders did not anticipate some of the zombies to evolve into semi intelligent beings after eating so much humans.
This plan experienced a glitch, the recently evolved zombies started to run faster than be before. They could tell if there is danger ahead and avoid it. When a soldier pointed a gun at them, they would avoid a direct confrontation.
This diversion caused the originally anticipated casualties to skyrocket by 3 times the estimate. The leaders were not pleased. In a hastily arranged meeting, they made a decision to trap the zombies using a much more concentrated location.
They all turned to the Huo family. Wang Ning had made her brother reinforce the fence around the villa to prepare for the apocalypse. If they go through with this plan, the zombies will not be able to escape and can be killed off easily but there has to be bate.
The Huo family allowed this to happen because it seemed plausible but they will lose a lot of prestige from this, more over these families are cornering their family so they can get rid of them. It is a known fact that Huo family started preparing for the apocalypse earlier than most, they want to use this opportunity to open their bellies and dig out the goods.
It is diabolical but an effective plan. These families are all in agreement. They know each other and have either conducted business together or had intermarriage between their families while the Huo family used to be a behemoth that couldn't be touched in any way.
Now however, they have an opportunity to level the playing field. Not to mention that having the Huo family that had always looked down on them still be at the top during these times rubs them the wrong way. So they out voted them in a gang up operation.
Even if the Huo family still has man power they can not be able to take on 5 powerful families and the now national security military that has recently declared independence.
Left with no choice the Huo family had to concede knowing they have even more powerful cards to play but now is not the time to show them.
Zombies are led to the villa area where they start hunting for food as soon as they smell humans hinding inside their homes. Total panic in the place under the protection of the Huo family ensued.
Huo Gin is having Lunch while the servants are in their best behavior standing nearby, wearing maid uniforms bowing their heads to reduce their presence as much as possible.
Huo Gin is from a prominent family she can train her own maids even if they used to be young misses of prominent families. Suddenly, the Ye twins came down from the second floor where they spend most of their time meditating.
When the people in the kitchen saw their attire they all swallowed in fear. The combat uniform is ink black leatther boots, a pair of loosely fitting pants with jeans like outer material, it looks strong and warm. A polo neck black inner top and a jacket with a similar material to the pants for Ye Lang. He looks strong and seriously dangerous.
Ye Ling on the other hand is wearing the skin tight battle suit, a pair of low heel boots that cover half way up her legs in tight leather material that makes her look fierce and sexy. The suit has a long zipper on the side. She then put on a female style combat friendly jacket that has pockets put a lot of knives in.
Her jacket has a hoodie she can use to cover her head from the snow. When she got closer to the door alongside her brother, she pulled her belt off the holder. The three girls watched it turn from a belt around her waist to a long metallic whip. She gave it a turn and sharp spikey thorns materialized making the whole whip gain a sinister aura that made people draw sharp intake of cold air.
Ye Ling's eyes are bright with anticipation. She finally gets to do real battle with actual enemies. She is tired of getting her ass beaten by a combat robot.
Her brother is carrying a large heavy axe. He is two meters tall now and his body mass is 209 kg. He tried using a sword but it became too light making him make mistakes.
"Where are you going?" Huo Gin asked the two people who transformed into cold warriors all of a sudden.
"Zombies are being led to the villa area." Ye Lang said in response.
"What? Who ...Why would they do such a thing?" Paige asked in panic but Huo Gin shot her an unfriendly look making her swallow and bow her head but her knees are shaking in fear of what she just heard.
"This place has taller, thicker walls they probably want to bomb the place after shutting the door behind them. It is the fastest way to get rid of the zombies." Ye Ling who has always been clever saw through their plans.
"Bomb? That is illogical unless they plan on cutting off this part of the base, there are mountains behind this place. A bomb may create a landslide, they want to have a high point view and shoot the enemy from the hight walls which they couldn't do easily from the other wall because of how short it was and zombies didn't take long to overwhelm them." Huo Gin faced the tv screen.
"Home system, show me the villa area." Huo Gin looked as several screens that popped up showing all the parts of the Wang territory which is now partially Huo family, and indeed there are many soldiers getting in positions on the wall getting ready to shoot.
