Chapter 6: EVELYN HARPER
EVELYN'S POV
My name is Evelyn Harper. I am 26 years old, and currently, I am the maid of young Master 'DAMON DARKBORNE'. He is 21 years old, and I am loyal to my master.
I was not always a maid, In the Demon Empire, at first, I was just a normal village girl on the coast of the Human Empire. I lived there with my small but very happy family.
My mother's name was Eva Harper, and my father's name was Roi Harper. The three of us lived together very happily. At that time, I was 12 years old, and I lived my life very happily...
But as all stories go, there always comes a time when the sun of happiness sets, and the darkness of pain and suffering comes to haunt everyone. Just like that, our happy moments were all short-lived.
Our village was very close to the black sea, beyond which lived the creatures of vile darkness and greed, the 'Demons'. One night, when everyone was sleeping peacefully, our village got attacked by those creatures. They killed half of the villagers and took the other half as slaves. It was the duty of the Human Empire to save us, but no one saved us...
My mother and father died protecting me. They hid me and tried to save me, but in the process, those demons found them and killed them in front of me.
I ran away... I ran... I ran as fast as I could... I was... weak; that's why I couldn't save them.
I saw them cutting their necks in front of me. And I couldn't do anything because I was... weak.
I ran as fast as I could... I didn't even try to watch where I was running, and then suddenly, I crashed into something soft... It was a person. I was very scared. I thought that those demons had caught up to me, and I was going to die like my parents. I was scared, but at last, I accepted my fate. At least I would be together with my parents, if there is something called an afterlife.
"Are you okay, child? You didn't get hurt anywhere, did you?"
Then I heard a very sweet voice, like an angel who came from heaven to save my life. I mustered up the last bit of courage I had left in my heart and saw a very beautiful lady standing in front of me. She looked like she was in her early twenties.
She had mesmerizing shades of crimson in her eyes, which emitted a varying vibe, like a mother treating her injured daughter. Silver hair cascaded down her back like molten moonlight. She had delicate features and an ethereal aura around her.
"Hey, find her; she would be close somewhere. If General finds out that we couldn't capture a little girl, he would execute us."
Many voices could be heard from afar, and hearing them, I started to panic.
"Don't worry, girl; they won't be able to see us. You stay close to me, okay?"
I didn't know what to do, so I just nodded my head a little.
"Hahaha... You are truly a cute one, aren't you?"
"Hey, find her! Where did she go? You three go to the east, west, north, and we'll search for her towards the south."
"Yes, sir..."
As the lady said those words, the four guys couldn't see us. We were standing right in front of them, but they didn't even notice our presence.
"See, I told you, didn't I? Now don't worry, okay, my child? Let me heal you."
Snap....
She checked my injuries and snapped her fingers, and in seconds, my injuries vanished as if they were never there from the beginning. Not only that, I also recovered my stamina and now was feeling good too.
But when the pain from my injuries left my body, a sudden emptiness started to overcome my heart, and tears started to flow from my eyes.
Sniff sniff....
I started to cry, remembering that horrible scene of my mother and father's death. Seeing me cry, the beautiful lady didn't say anything and gently patted my head.
"So, my girl, you won't mind me asking your name, will you?"
With a voice barely anyone could hear, I answered her.
"Evelyn Harper..."
"Oh, that's a sweet name for a sweet child. Don't worry, Evelyn; from now on, you will stay with me. I have a child; his name is Damon, and he is 7 years old. I know that he would be very happy to make you his friend."
Evelyn, upon hearing her, lifted her head to meet her eyes, and upon seeing her crimson eyes, she lost her senses and nodded lightly.
"Very well, I will take you with me. You will be my son's personal maid from now on, though you will have the title of slave. But no one will dare to say anything to you because you are under my care, and I am very strong, you know."
The lady started to show off her biceps to Evelyn, with a proud look on her face. And seeing her act like that, a small smile came to Evelyn's face :)
Seeing her smile like that, the lady also smiled, and both of them then, the lady lifted Evelyn up, and they started to fly up into the sky.
Woosh....
Both of them left towards Evelyn's village. By the time they arrived, everyone had left the place. The whole village was burned, and nothing was left there.
Seeing this, Evelyn became very sad. Then both of them walked inside the village and saw many dead bodies. Seeing Evelyn panicking, the lady snapped her fingers, and Evelyn fell into a deep slumber.
Snape..
Then the lady snapped again, and all the dead bodies in the village started to glow, and some kind of energy started to come out from inside those dead bodies. That energy started to fly towards the sky.
"Well, that's settled; the body case now. Their souls have entered the Reincarnation cycle."
Initially, she had come here to free the souls of Evelyn's parents so that she wouldn't stay sad for much longer. But the village was burned very badly, and it would be hard to find her parents. Though she could use her magic to identify them, it was too much hassle for her, so she simply sent everyone's soul. Easy and fast work.
The bodies started to disappear into the earth. Then she saw the beautiful child sleeping in her arms. And after nodding to herself, both of them disappeared from there.
