Chapter 7: A cautious girl

A gleam of interest crossed Alessandra's face. At the same time, painful memories flooded her mind. "Okay, buddy, tell me your story."

Aaron began to recount everything that had happened to him since he met Sophie. The more he talked, the better he felt, as if he had released a weight. Meanwhile, Alessandra's interest and indignation grew as Aaron's story progressed.

Talking about your problems with someone helps a lot, and Aaron was no exception.

"Is everything you told me true? "I think you lied to me to make me sympathize with you."

"Everything I told you is true. It's up to you to believe it or not," Aaron shrugged.

"We don't even know each other. Why did you tell me all this?"

"Precisely for that reason, I told you everything. We don't know each other, and we may never cross paths again. Of course, I wouldn't tell just anyone, but you make me feel confident. I don't think you're a bad person," Aaron said with a sincere look.

After observing Alessandra's gestures as he told his story, Aaron came to the conclusion that she was going through something similar. She was probably cheated on or her boyfriend left her.

It had been 30 minutes since Aaron started talking, during which time they both had 4 double shots. The alcohol and bitter memories created a kind of understanding between them.

Aaron told her about Alice and how her parents died when he was a teenager. These things were very personal, but they made the trust between the two grow by leaps and bounds.

So far, Aaron had achieved 7 conquest points. It wasn't much, but Aaron was aware that the situation was not the right one to earn more points.

It is important to clarify that conquest points cannot be earned through sympathy or pity. Aaron earned these points because he was likable from Alessandra's perspective.

Alessandra's face was a little flushed from the alcohol. However, she was not drunk since her stamina was good.

The things Aaron told her warmed her heart and made her sympathize with him. After all, she was going through a similar situation.

"Will you tell me your story?" Aaron asked with a bitter smile.

"My story is pathetic too." His eyes widened as he realized what he said. "Sorry, I didn't mean that you're pathetic. Simply…"

"Hahaha, calm down. I know you didn't want to insult me."

"Thank you for not embarrassing me. If you were my ex-husband, I couldn't even make these kinds of mistakes."

[(+5) conquest: Alessandra…]

It was nice to have someone listen to you. But now that he realized he was closer to completing the mission, Aaron's mood improved even more.

"Were you married?" Aaron asked with interest.

"I… Yes. I got divorced two months ago. My ex-husband was unfaithful to me with my 'best friend'. Not only was he unfaithful to me, he got her pregnant. Their son is 6 months old."

"We were married for 3 years, but I couldn't get pregnant. He always accused me of being the one with the problem. But, a year ago, he started treating me worse. If it weren't for the presence of his grandmother, I think he would have even hit me."

"Even his parents knew about the existence of the bastard child. But they remained silent."

"It sounds like a story from a Korean drama," Aaron said.

"Hahaha, you are right." Alessandra laughed at herself. "Sometimes reality surpasses fiction."

"The worst thing of all is that after we divorced, he wanted me to be her lover. He will marry my 'friend' and I will occupy the position of lover. He had everything well planned. He is a fucking idiot."

"I feel like hitting him. I don't think you deserve what he did to you," Aaron said as he clenched his fist.

Alessandra smiled and placed her hand on his fist. "The story is not over yet. How I refused to be his lover. He has banned me from business. Every time I go to get a job, I am rejected in the first selection. I think they just look at my name and reject me outright."

"He is so powerful?" Aaron asked.

"His family is rich. But they are not that powerful. The problem is that his friends are very influential. He just needed to get the word out so no one would hire me," Alessandra said bitterly.

Aaron frowned. "Have you thought about what you will do in the future?"

Alessandra nodded reluctantly. "A friend called me today and offered me a job, even though it's not what I want. But, for the moment, it is the best option... I want to find a good job, after all, I graduated from Friedrich Gauss University.

"Are you serious? That's my university," Aaron said excitedly.

"Oh really? What career did you study?" Alessandra asked with the same emotion.

"I'm studying Economic Sciences. I'm a scholarship student," Aaron said proudly. "What degree did you study?"

"I studied Administration and Finance. Are you a scholarship student? You must be a very intelligent boy; getting a scholarship there is very difficult."

[(+5) conquest: Alessandra…

"It is actually very difficult to get a scholarship," Aaron agreed.

"I know, I also studied on scholarship," Alessandra said, her hand slapping her chest with pride.

"Hahaha, how pretentious you are. Aren't you telling me that you are a smart girl too?" Aaron said jokingly.

"There is no pretense in the truth hehehe."

It was almost midnight when they decided to stop drinking. The chemistry between the two was incredible, but it was time for a change of scenery.

They left the bar and went for a hangover drink. During this time, they got to know each other a little more.

Alessandra was more open with him and told him personal things. Her mother was sick, and her little sister was in her last year of school, so she needed to find a job soon.

After her husband cheated on her, Alessandra wanted to stay away from men, at least for the moment. But this boy quickly broke down her barriers. He was very attentive and kind, and it was also nice to be able to talk to him about anything.

Right now, Alessandra had three voices screaming in her head. The first voice told her that all men are sweet at first, and she shouldn't believe in him. The second voice told her that not all men are the same and that Aaron was 'authentic'. The third voice told her that she was not going to marry him. This guy could serve as a one-night stand; after all, the well had been dry for a long time.

These thoughts arose based on Aaron blatantly flirting with her. Although Alessandra was a little rusty when it came to relationships, that didn't mean she didn't understand what Aaron's intentions were. The alcohol, the need to avenge her husband's betrayal, and how handsome and nice Aaron was all contributed to Alessandra making a decision.

They walked for 20 minutes before finding a minimarket. They bought hangover drinks, beer, and snacks. Yes, beer. They both wanted to continue drinking. When they left the tent, Aaron asked, "Where shall we drink?"

"We can go to my apartment. Well, it's not my department. It belongs to my friend, but she is traveling." Although Alessandra said this naturally, her ears were red as tomatoes. Even she didn't know where she got the courage to say that. It was the first time she invited a man to the place where she lives.

"Aren't you afraid that she will kidnap you or that I will do something bad to you?"

"I already sent a photo of you to my friend," Alessandra said quickly in a low voice.

Aaron thought Alessandra was joking, so he laughed out loud. "Hahahahahahaha hey, you are a cautious girl."

Alessandra smiled awkwardly.

When Aaron realized she wasn't joking, he stopped laughing. "Are you serious (-_-)." Seeing that the situation was becoming more awkward, he said, "Okay, should we take a taxi or walk?"

"Let's take a taxi; my friend's apartment is outside this district."

Soon, they ordered a taxi through an app.

A few minutes later they arrived at another district in the southern part of the city. At that time there was no traffic, so the taxi was able to arrive quickly.

Alessandra's friend's apartment was in a 30-story residential building.
