Chapter 1: Prologue
I closed my eyes and blew out the candles on my cake.
" Happy birthday" family members wished me. My younger sister and her male friend who was two years older than her rushed in and give me a hug. I gave both a faint smile and kissed my sister on her head.
"Happy 18th birthday" she smiled, returning my kiss on the cheek. She was 6 years younger than me. Waving,she dragged the boy by the arms and they disappeared into the crowd of family memebers. Being in the midst of people,family or not was very depressing.
I sat down in the sofa feeling exhausted. Hours later,it was nighttime. The extended family members began leave. Nanny, Grandpa, Uncle, sister,mum and stepdad sat by me when they noticed my exhausted expression
" Are you alright?"my sister asked tugging my sleeves. I nidded,quickly rising. Climbing the staircase to my room I unlocked the door and hopped onto the bed.
"Finally some peace and solitude"I sighed. I released my bun and nestled in the bed.Stretching my hands I switched on the radio. Music played. This was what I called heaven -music from the radio with nothing else doing other than listening to it. That was when it happened.
I felt a surge of pain in my chest. I clutched my chest,rolled over from the bed to the floor and struggled to breathe. I managed a sorry excuse of standing up,the pain increasing. Dizzily, I walked towards the room table,hands wandering over it, searching for the only thing that would help. Pills. My hands displaced everything in the drawer, searching for medicines. It was empty. I held onto the chair by the table,pain increasing with every intake of breath. Falling down on my side ,facing the door I tried calling for help. Minus my long sightedness,my eyes started betraying me. The door opened and someone walked in. I stretched out for help towards the person who did nothing but stood and watched. My eyes closed,drifting off into an infinite darkness. Death.
