Chapter 1: chapter 1

Chapter: 1

I was walking home from school my name is Sung Ji-Yoon the second son of Park Kyung-Hye and younger brother of Sung Jin-Woo As I walked along the familiar path from school, my mind buzzed with thoughts that had been bugging me for a while now and that would be my brother's drastic change in well everything from height, demeanor, hell even physique. So for context, Jin-woo is what you would call a Hunter to be specific he is what you would call an E-rank Hunter the lowest rank of hunter.

You see Hunters are people who have awoken special abilities that would put them above normal humans. Hunters are separated by ranks from highest to lowest the ranks are the following: S-rank, A-rank, B-rank, C-rank, D-rank, and finally E-rank. Here's the thing with Hunters though once they awaken at that specific rank there is nothing they can do to get stronger and surpass their rank in other words once you awaken at the rank you are you're stuck there. Now that brings me back to my thoughts of my brother you see even in E-ranks he is classed as the weakest E-rank in history so much so that even I could overpower him. But that's where the oddities come in because, after a dungeon raid, he went on a week and a half ago that landed him in the hospital again when he got home he was vastly different taller for one because brother before that incident was around 170cm tall after he got back he was 177cm tall in comparison to my 160cm and our sister's 157cm.

That in itself is quite weird but that's not the end of it his whole physique changed drastically I'm taking he went from pretty much a stick to looking like an athlete in a week and a half mind you. I'm not saying that's bad I say it's good honestly just for him to be at least a bit safer when he goes into dungeons.

Screech

Huh? Where did that screech come from?

Stopping I looked around my surroundings.

"Where am I?"

Looking around I noticed that I wasn't on the street anymore I was in a massive cave system covered in crystals and a good 100 meters or so behind me was a massive blue portal one that is always seen when a dungeon appears called gates. Turning around in front of me were 10 large centipedes each as big or bigger than me.

Did I accidentally enter a dungeon?

 "Shit."

I turned to run out of the dungeon without trying to think about and well the reason is self-explanatory I'm not a hunter.

My heart raced as I sprinted through the cavernous tunnels, the echo of my footsteps reverberating off the walls. Panic surged through me as I realized I had stumbled into a dungeon—a place meant for Hunters, not ordinary civilians like me.

The creatures behind me, those gigantic centipedes, were unlike anything I had ever seen. Their segmented bodies undulated as they skittered after me, their sharp mandibles clicking with hunger.

But as I dashed through the dimly lit passages, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. How had I crossed over into a dungeon without even realizing it?

My thoughts were interrupted when a centipede slammed into my side sending me into the wall of the cave. Coughing up blood I slid off the wall with blood leaking out of my mouth.

How the hell did this happen? How the hell did I walk into a dungeon without noticing it? It just makes no sense.

Looking up I saw that the number of centipedes grew in number from ten to thirty and five of them rushed at me.

Is this where I die? No, I will not allow it I will not let all the hard work my brother put into allowing me and Sung Jinah to live our lives as he slaved away in dungeons and has come close to death so many times. I will not die.

As the horde of centipedes closed in I tried to stand and run but I could barely move trying to use the dungeon wall as a brace to try and get away but it was already too late the centipedes were already few feet away from me and closing in fast.

When they were five feet away time started to slow down until it stopped. The moment time stopped a white and gold system screen appeared in front of me with a message on it.

Hello reincarnate

If you're seeing this then I assume you're in quite the situation and that means you're in a situation where you would require my abilities if that's the case there will not be any time for an explanation and as such the memories you gain will explain.

Good luck reincarnate and a key word of advice be careful of who you trust.

— the Absolute.

When the message vanished I was assaulted by memories, memories of a massive being of white and gold with a power that seemed to have governed creation itself and created beings of unimaginable power but was inevitably betrayed by his creations. When the memories faded I looked back up at the system screen and noticed that it changed instead of the message it showed something else.

It didn't take a genius to understand what this meant and the timer at the bottom meant how long I had left of the frozen time. Some of these did but others I'll have to figure out later but for now I'll use this one.

Activating the creation skill I pictured a sword in hand nothing complicated just a regular iron sword simply because I didn't have the time to. As the sword appeared in my hand the time hit zero and time resumed I gripped the sword tightly, feeling its weight and the cool metal against my palm. The centipedes lunged toward me, their razor-sharp mandibles gleaming in the dim light of the dungeon.

Without hesitation, I swung the sword severing the head of the closest centipede and jumping away from the approaching horde to gain some distance I took a stance.

"Practicing Keomdo was so worth it."

Taking a breath I prepared for the horde of centipedes coming my way.

Alright, remember to keep my footing avoid getting thrown off balance keep my distance, and avoid getting surrounded these things are still faster and stronger than me, take a deep breath, alright.

"Let's begin."

Chapter 1: End

Keomdo: Korean for way of the sword it is pretty much the Korean equivalent of kendo from Japan.
