Chapter 2: Awakening

In an underground cave where darkness reigned supreme, suppressing the very idea of light, an egg could be seen lying peacefully in a dark corner.

Its crimson surface was hidden by the blanket of darkness.

The egg was the only object in the cave that seemed remotely lively. Everything else was covered by layers and layers of rust and dust.

Suddenly, a tremble surfaced in the egg. The tremble caused the egg to move in a to and fro motion.

The next moment, a slight crack spread over the middle of its surface. The crack gently travelled the entire egg's surface, causing its original smooth surface to transform into a web of cracks.

Then, the egg shell, like a a flower bloomed and collapsed in all 4 directions, revealing the creature inside.

It was a humanoid baby, one covered with a plastic wrap like substance.

The baby sensing the change in its state, responded by moving its limbs, tearing the wrap surrounding it.

"Ah-" a voice left its mouth, following that, it opened its eyes, which were a deep crimson red with a black pupil.

This creature which was clearly a male, slowly got up on its feet. It observed its surroundings that were obscured by the darkness.

However, this darkness proved no challenge to the boy, as he was able to see through it. Completely unbothered by its presence.

The 14 years old looking humanoid male, walked out from the shatters of the egg shell, moving around the cave. He swung around his arms and legs, getting used to his body.

As he felt himself fully synchronise with his body, the young man let out a breath of air.

"Leviathan..." He muttered to himself. This word was the first that surfaced in his mind. This word was very important to himself, after all, it was his name.

As for where he came to know of it; it was through his inherent memories.

A basic ability of dragons, the ability to transmit information to their following generations through heritage.

Through these inherited memories, the young man had gained excess to some significant information regarding himself and the world.

Firstly, his name was Leviathan. He was an experiment, which was conducted to create a creature with both vampire and dragon traits.

Aside from this, regarding himself he only had some information about his abilities.

All other information was about the world.

Clearly, as a new born creature, all this was a lot to take in for anyone. But, Leviathan found himself ready to accept everything thrown at him rather easily. He did not know why, but it had something to do with his weird mind— which even after receiving so much information at once did not go into shock.

But, Leviathan at the current moment did not want to dwell too much on such things. His first instinct was to get out of this dark cave and find some food.

Only after he had nourished himself would he start to carefully process everything.

So, without any waste of time, Leviathan started to navigate through the dark cave, slowly making his way out of the place.

He was not worried about any enemies, afterall, he was in the dark, which was his forte of a place to engage in combat.

He walked and walked forward, but the cave seemed a lot longer than he initially expected.

After walking for almost 5 hours straight, Leviathan saw the end of the cave.

A bright light invaded his crimson eyes, forcing him to involuntarily close them. This was the first time Leviathan saw light in his very short life.

It took him some time to adapt to the light, but when he did, Leviathan was amazed by the sight.

Outside the cave, he saw a vast expanse of wilderness. A lush green forest spread to an endless distance, only the tall mountains at the end seemed to hold it in control.

"Huuu..." Leviathan took in a deep breath of fresh air, his short black hair fluttered in the wind, his pale white skin shone under the sun, making him a beautiful sight to behold.

'So this is Earth. A wonderful place indeed," He thought. He had some information about this planet, but real experience was above all information. Visual experience was leagues above raw data, Leviathan came to such a conclusion shortly.

Then, Leviathan stroked his chin and after some thought, said out a single world. "Cool!"

Just like a human would describe this scene, Leviathan did too. In the past 5 hours, he did not spend his entire time walking thinking nothing.

No, he was processing some things along the way. He had information on humans, they had created him, and were the rulers of this planet.

If he were to ensure his safety, he had to learn to blend in with them. To do that, he had to adapt a behaviour just like them.

This was one of Leviathan's current objectives, along side feeding ofcourse.
