Chapter 8: Shadow in shadow
The gate opened, and all the students squeezed into the narrow alleyway. They were packed together like sardines, a situation Nemo absolutely hated. So, she quickly slipped into the shadows, finding a perfect spot where she knew she would excel.
She hid within Todoroki's shadow, letting him take the lead. It was a good choice; suddenly, everything was frozen. Todoroki took the lead, and she simply rode along in his shadow. She noticed that even the other students from her class avoided the frozen patches.
Nemo relaxed and enjoyed the ride. The other students didn't yet know her Quirk, which was a significant advantage. She planned to keep her Quirk a secret until the last round.
Suddenly, she heard someone yelling. It was that pervert, Mineta.
Mineta: "Haha Todoroki, I'm the strongest, and catch my special atta..."
Suddenly, a robotic fist slammed into his face. It was one of the robots from the entrance exams. Seeing Mineta get hit brought a sinister smile to Nemo's face.
She didn't know why, but she enjoyed seeing him suffer.
Todoroki waved his hand, freezing most of the robots.
And Nemo continued riding along in his shadow.
Todoroki took the lead, advancing to the second part of the race. There were many islands and lots of ropes connecting them.
Todoroki quickly traversed the islands.
He widened the gap between him and the others. Except for one thing.
Someone was rapidly approaching him with explosions.
Nemo clicked her tongue.
Nemo: "*Tsk* If that explosive guy gets close to me, I'll be in big trouble. The light from those explosions will force me out of the shadow."
So, Nemo left his shadow and slipped into the shadow cast by a tree. No one noticed her yet.
That was good. As Nemo contemplated, Bakugo reached Todoroki. And she was right; if she had stayed there, she would have been forced to leave her shadow.
Nemo decided to wait for someone else. More and more people were reaching the final part of the race. And Nemo noticed Midoriya digging up bombs.
Nemo: 'That's a very good but dangerous idea. Does Broccoli know he could hurt himself badly?'
Nemo jumped into his shadow. She knew the explosion would be dangerous, but it wouldn't create as much light as Bakugo's explosion.
She knew what Broccoli wanted to do, so she took a risk.
Midoriya felt something small, unsure of what it was. He started looking around, but found nothing.
Nemo: 'He felt it? That's not possible.'
Midoriya jumped with the robot's plate onto all the mini-bombs he had dug up. And there was a massive explosion.
Nemo spat out blood and held onto his shadow.
He reached Bakugo and Todoroki and with robots plate he hit the bomb that was between them. Midoriya was in the lead.
Bakugo and Todoroki tried to get back into the lead.
Midoriya started running through the final tunnel.
P.Mic: "And the winner of the first round is."
A boy with green hair ran out of the tunnel.
P.Mic: "It's MIDORIYA IZUKU!"
The crowd went wild.
Bakugo and Todoroki arrived at the stadium.
P.Mic: "And second place goes to ANEMO NEMO."
Midoriya looked behind him and saw Anemo Nemo, who had a confident smile on her face.
Nemo: "Pretty good race, Broccoli."
Midoriya: "H-h-how did you get here?"
Nemo: "That's a secret."
Meanwhile, Bakugo glared murderously at Nemo. Todoroki was very surprised.
He hadn't seen her throughout the match, and suddenly she was in second place. How did she even get there?
Bakugo: "Again, I lost again, this time to three people. Damn it."
Suddenly, Mina flew to Nemo and started bombarding her with questions.
Mina: "Hey, Nemo-chan, how did you do it?"
Nemo: "Figure it out yourself, idiot."
Before Mina could bombard Nemo with more questions, Midnight started speaking.
Midnight: "So, everyone's finished, here's the final ranking."
All the names that qualified for the next round appeared on the screen.
Midnight: "So, what will be the next game? Any guesses?"
The screen stopped at one name.
"Cavalry Battle"
Midnight: "You'll be in teams, and everyone will receive points based on their placement in the first game, so first place gets 10 million points. You have fifteen minutes to form teams."
Nemo looked around and became completely invisible again. After a few minutes, teams started forming. Nemo just sighed. And suddenly, someone spoke to her. It was Todoroki.
Todoroki: "Anemo, I need one more player for my team, join me."
Nemo looked at him and saw Iida and Momo.
Nemo: "And why me?"
Todoroki: "Momo recommended you."
Nemo just nodded.
Nemo: "All right, I'll join."
Todoroki nodded, and Nemo had her team.
Nemo was on the left, Momo on the right, Iida in the front, and Todoroki on top.
Momo started creating roller skates so everyone could keep up with Iida's speed.
Time ran out, and only one thing remained. Midnight raised her hand.
Midnight: "Start."
And everyone started running after Midoriya, who began to run.
Todoroki's team started somewhat slowly at first, but suddenly Midoriya's team flew into the air. And behind them flew Bakugo alone.
Bakugo couldn't handle it, and someone took away points from him.
It was our team's time to shine. Several other teams were behind Todoroki's team.
Nemo started extending her shadow and touched all the teams, except Midoriya's; she didn't have enough energy to extend her shadow to the other side.
Suddenly, the other teams stopped moving.
Nemo: "Todoroki, they can't move."
Todoroki used his ice and pinned down the other teams.
Todoroki's team began exchanging blows with Midoriya's team.
Nemo: 'If this continues, we won't get those points.'
Suddenly, Iida started apologizing.
Iida: "Sorry, but after this move, I'll be out of commission and won't be able to use my Quirk for the rest of the game."
Something started charging in his legs. Suddenly, he sped forward. Nemo almost got disconnected from the team due to the acceleration. But she was caught by an object from Momo.
Suddenly, we had 10 million points. Nemo noticed that Todoroki didn't have any other points.The shadow from Midoriya's team had it.
Suddenly Midoriya's team ran towards Todoroki's team.
But Midoriya's team stopped moving.
Midoriya: "I can't... move."
Todoroki looked at Nemo.
Nemo: "If we just stand like this, they won't be able to move for the rest of the game."
Todoroki just nodded.
Midoriya started looking around with his eyes. And on the ground, he saw a black line connecting them to Nemo.
The countdown for the last ten seconds started. Midoriya tried to break free from the black line, but in vain.
Suddenly, there was an explosion, and Bakugo was in the air, looking at Todoroki.
Bakugo: "You half-and-half bastard!"
Bakugo was very close, but.
Midnight: "End."
Sirens sounded with Midnight's words, declaring the end of the second game.
