Chapter 13: CHAPTER 13

CHAPTER 13

Northern Area of the Forest of Spirits.

It was already afternoon, and in an area not far from the hunting grounds of the group of four adventurers, there was a boy running as fast as he could, followed by a large group of angry Thorkas.

Reily, running as fast as he could, couldn't help but think about what had gone wrong. Just a moment ago, while he was killing his fourth Thorkas, something attacked him from behind.

Thanks to his enhanced senses, Reily managed to escape in time, dodging the attack, and shifted his gaze to see who the aggressor was. A few meters away from him, near a tree that had just been felled by the attack, there was a large spiky ball.

The spiky ball opened up and got on all fours, staring at Reily with a deadly gaze. It was nothing but another Thorkas, and from its expression, it seemed very angry with Reily.

Reily thought it might be an acquaintance of the Thorkas he had just killed, coming to avenge him.

"You know, you did well to come, now at least I won't have to make an effort to find another prey."

Just as he said this and prepared to engage in a battle with the newcomer, he noticed something. The Thorkas in front of him seemed to have a smirk on its face.

"What are you laughing-"

And at that moment, realization struck him. He quickly turned to look back at the place where the Thorkas in front of him had attacked, and to his horror, he could see a herd of Thorkas charging towards him at full speed.

Reily was terrified for a moment. He didn't know how so many of them had joined to come after him, but if he had to guess, the Thorkas who had just arrived had probably alerted the others before attacking him.

Reily was confident he could handle one or even two of them at once, but such a large group of them was a whole different story.

Panicked and with the urgency of the situation, he turned to the side opposite the herd and tried to escape. He had to hurry. He couldn't stop to retrieve the corpse of the Thorkas he had just killed because his dimensional space was already full to the brim with the corpses of the three Thorkas he had killed before, and he couldn't afford to drag back the fourth.

Just as he moved, his path was blocked by the Thorkas that had attacked him.

"You better move, if you don't want to go and greet your fallen companion," he said, hoping to deceive the monster in front of him, but it didn't work.

The Thorkas was determined to take Reily and beat him to death for hunting down its companion.

Seeing this, Reily tightened his grip on his dagger and advanced towards the monster in front of him.

The Thorkas, seeing that the enemy had decided to attack, crossed its arms over its chest and rolled up, also charging towards Reily.

The distance between the two closed quickly, and just as they were about to collide, Reily jumped up, going over the Thorkas.

"Well, you're still just an unevolved beast after all, aren't you?" Reily said, mocking the intelligence of the creature behind him.

And saying this, he ran forward without worrying about giving a second look back. He couldn't waste any more time because the herd of Thorkas was almost upon him.

The Thorkas, realizing it had fallen into the human's trap, turned with fury and made a U-turn, rolling back towards the human who had already put some distance between them.

In no time, his kind joined him, and together they charged even faster towards Reily.

Suddenly, Reily darted to the side, entering the dense forest. If he continued to run in a straight line, he would eventually be caught by the Thorkas, so he decided to enter the forest so that the trees could hinder the advance of the herd.

The plan seemed to work. The herd of Thorkas slowed down a bit due to all the trees obstructing their movement.

Seeing this, Reily didn't calm down; instead, he became even more careful. Entering the forest meant encountering stronger beasts, and Reily was almost certain that the group of Thorkas also had a Thorkas of rank F among them.

The Thorkas always moved in groups of three or four to hunt, always led by the strongest among them. The stronger the Thorkas leading the group, the larger the group.

Reily didn't believe that the Thorkas from earlier had managed alone to mobilize such a large group of them. He was sure that at least one of Rank F was leading them, so he couldn't afford to calm down now.

As he continued to run, he began to hear loud bangs coming from behind him.

"They've started to knock down the trees in front of them. This means he has also started to intervene."

Although Reily was certain that there was an F-rank among that herd of Thorkas, he hadn't seen it before. But now, hearing these bangs, he was sure that the F-rank had started to act and clear the way for the others.

Reily began to feel desperate as he quickened his pace even more.

In no time, he covered almost half a kilometer as he delved deeper into the forest, reaching the end of the outer part of the Forest of Spirits.

The sound behind him was getting louder, while the distance between him and the group of monsters was getting shorter and shorter.

After a while, Reily could see a somewhat open area, devoid of trees, and immediately thought of a specific area he had heard about some time ago.

"Right. Further ahead should be the territory of the earth lizards," he thought, as a new plan formed in his head. He had decided to lure them all into the territory of the earth lizards. He was sure there would be some Earth Lizards of F-Rank or even E-Rank among them.

The trees became fewer and he began to have a better view of what lay beyond, and then he noticed two figures up ahead.

He wasn't sure who they were, as he was still a little far away from them.

One of them seemed to be a girl kneeling on the ground, while the other figure, larger than the girl, seemed to be an earth lizard.

Reily wasn't sure what rank the lizard was, as he had never encountered one before, but judging by its size and the extent of damage around it, he was sure it was at least an F-rank magical beast.

He didn't waste time thinking about the situation in front of him.

"They're probably a group that hasn't had luck during their hunt."

With that, he finally emerged from this area and reached the girl in front of him.

Although he would have preferred not to have any unnecessary baggage, his conscience didn't allow him to abandon her to her fate.

Meanwhile, the earth lizard, which had just turned its gaze away to focus its attention on the group of trees where the sound seemed to be coming from, wanted to see who had dared to interrupt its hunt.

Emerging from the group of trees, it saw another human, who immediately ran towards the female human in front of him.

The audacity. You mosquitoes surely don't know the meaning of fear.

The lizard hissed at Reily and prepared to charge towards him, but just as it launched towards him, a large group of Thorkas appeared, blowing up the trees obstructing their path.

The large group, just out, didn't have time to stop and collided with the earth lizard.

The lizard was overwhelmed by a dozen raging Thorkas.

HISSS !!!
