Chapter 2: engraving

As the young boy sank into a deep slumber atop a pile of straw, he was assaulted by a strange dream in which he pursued an unknown figure. He awoke engulfed in tears, sorrowful for the first time in his life. He remained so until he finally rose, determined to face a new day.

With the sunrise came the boy's confusion. He did not know what to do, relying entirely on his instincts for survival. He wandered here and there until he found himself facing the giant, mysterious rock he had seen the day before.

Once again, the size of the rock astounded him, and he reached out with curiosity to touch it. The moment his hand touched its surface, one of the carvings glowed brightly, and the rock began to shake violently, as if screaming. The boy recoiled in horror, unsure of how to proceed.

Suddenly, the glowing carving detached from the rock and flew towards the boy's forehead, colliding with it. The shock pushed the boy backward, and he felt immense heat engulfing his forehead. After moments, the heat vanished, and the boy began to feel a strange sense of calm enveloping his mind.

Strange drawings appeared in his mind, guiding him on how to perform certain movements. The boy attempted to mimic them, but initially failed. Yet his will did not give up, and after countless attempts, he finally succeeded in mastering the movements. He felt a strange change within his body, as if it were burning from within, while another sensation gently extinguished that flame.

The boy felt safe and reassured, collapsing on the ground exhausted. After hours, he woke to the sound of his stomach growling, so he began gathering stones to throw at trees and collect fruits.

This time, the stones flew with tremendous force, easily surpassing half the tree. The boy was shocked by his strength, attributing it to the movements he learned from the rock.

He tried to replicate those movements while throwing stones, and succeeded in throwing them with astonishing accuracy. He dropped a whole bunch of fruits and returned to his hut happily.

After eating, the boy looked at the scribbles again. Moving on to the next scribble, which contained a method for collecting fallen tree leaves and how to deal with them.

The boy gathered some leaves and placed them on the ground, placing the fruits inside. He wrapped the leaves around them, then brought another leaf for himself. This is how he learned to wrap food to prevent it from spoiling, and how to make a simple cover for himself to protect against the biting cold of the night.

Unlike ordinary trees, the trees around him had fruits and leaves half their usual size.

Thus ended the young boy's journey for this long, arduous day.
