Chapter 49: Memories

Jake woke up to the sounds of a squeaking bed. He forced his eyelids open only to see his twins jumping on his bed aiming to wake him up.

"Morning my angels," he greeted, his voice coming out as a groan.

"Hello dad, are we going to see mom today?" Bryson asked.

Jake palmed his face, remembering he hadn't talked to them concerning that matter.

"Come here, my darlings, do you remember when grandpa got admitted at the hospital and wasn't able to talk to you guys?" Jake asked them as they nodded at him in reply.

"Well mom is almost like that, she is sick, and we cannot disturb her right now," Jake explained, not sure if that would satisfy Breanna's curious nature.

"Will she die like grandpa?" Bryson asked, tears clouding her vision.

"No sweetheart, she's not dying, we just have to give her some time to recover, okay?" Jake asked, touching their heads smoothly.

"Okay dad, but I hope we'll see her soon," Breanna said, her eyes watering.
