Chapter 54: Chapter 54 - Kamado Family Finale
The Kamado stared at their food which was broth soup with pieces of pork and vegetables. It was a simple soup which was called Nilagang Baboy. Their nose already felt satisfied by the smell alone and pondered what the taste was.
Tanjiro was the first to chow down the food. His mother was about to scold him for his manners but she was stopped by Ryuu with a smile..
"It's fine just let him eat. I'm actually flattered that my dish already caught your appetite."
Ryuu gave a small laugh before looking at them as Tanjiro continued to eat the food. Tanjiro felt like flying as he ate the soup swimming within his tongue as an explosion if flavor assaulted it.
"HMMMMMM~! Delicious!"
Without a second thought he eated like there is no tomorrow. And so the rest of the children started eating, cause they can't wait anymore
"AHHHH~ Onii-chan! this is the most delicious food I have eaten in my whole life~! "
Said Nezuko, consuming the meal rather quickly as if they were in a race or something despite the temperature. Ryuu was reminded by the time when his family had finally eaten a decent meal which was the meal they were feasting on.
"I'm glad you like it but please slow down. The food won't go anywhere and it's dangerous since it's still hot."
Ryuu slightly scolded Nezuko who blush from realizing her action but also skipped a bit that he was worried about her. Soon Takeo took a sip of the soup and made his eyes sparkle.
He gave a warm smile toward her and struck her heart once more. She was a young maiden and it wasn't strange to be this affected.
"What is this?! it's so delicious!! hey! what kin- "
Kie slightly smacked Takeo's head and gave him a small scold.
"Takeo...! manners!"
Takeo was embarrassed that his mother scolded him and changed his tone into a more polite one.
"O-Onii-San what kind of food is this?"
"It's called Nilagang Baboy which means Boiled Pork Soup. The meal came from my hometown and I'm pleased that you are enjoying it. "
[ A/N: It's really cringe reading Filipino words but meh ]
Ryuu happily smiled and he explained it, and Kie, who was listening seriously, wanted to know how to cook it. He noticed that Kie hadn't touched the stew.
"Kie-san...why don't you try it? Is something wrong?"
Kie realized that she hadn't touched the food and she said shyly.
"Ah...sorry I will eat it now."
As she took the bowl and took a sip. Her Red pink eyes widened, and her yukata burst off in her body being assaulted by unbelievable flavor. As her eyes widened she couldn't help but shout a little.
"Delicious!"
Even with her calm personality she couldn't help but shout, and this was also the most delicious boiled pork soup she had in her life.
And as she noticed Ryuu was staring at her, she blushed and was trying to avoid having eye contact with him. And the Kamado family ate happily that night, it was such a blessing.
Kie observed how well Ryuu treated the children that somehow filled something in her heart. It made her feel that her family was whole again.
'What am I thinking? Is it because I miss my late husband…?'
She inwardly thought slightly guilty that he was comparing Ryuu's presence to her late husband.
Though, Kie couldn't deny his presence had brightened the mood of her children, especially Nezuko who got closer to him. Nezuko was trying to know more about him, who happily shared a bit.
"So the world is like a ball?" Nezuko repeated.
"Yup! People have proved it time and time again." Ryuu said.
"I thought it was flat like people said." She muttered.
"Hahaha if it was flat then we wouldn't have the four seasons or the cycle of the moon."
Ryuu wholeheartedly enjoys telling facts about the world towards the children educating them about it. Something then clicked in his mind.
'What if I place them in the training room before heading to DxD? Wouldn't that mean I could bring them with me??'
He gave it some thought and inwardly nodded. Knowing that it would be possible. Ryuu did want these children to have some fun in modern life without a problem.
After a while the Kamado finished their meal with a blissful smile cleaning their bowls. Ryuu continued to tell more stories about his adventure until some of them started to fall asleep.
'I wonder if this is how it feels to have children or younger siblings…'
Ryuu was mentally 23 which meant it would be strange for to have one or two children of his own by now.
He patted their head as Kie saw her children sleeping soundly around him. She smiled slightly baffled at how quickly her children became comfortable around him.
"Ara~ you quite good handling children. Do you happen to have younger siblings?" Kie asked.
"Older but I grew up in a place where there's many orphans. I usually entertain them with stories when I have time."
He softly said while caressing Rokuta the youngest Kamado who seemingly grew attached to him. Tanjiro and Nezuko, who were still awake, smiled at the sight.
"Well Ryuu-Nii I'll tuck them to bed if you don't mind." Tanjiro said.
"Ah yeah, I don't mind."
Ryuu tried to slightly move Rokuta but he seemed to refuse and tighten his grip into Ryuu's clothes. Kie could only warily smile at her child's action while Nezuko felt slightly embarrassed that their guest was being bothered by her sibling.
After a few tries, Kie was finally able to make her child from Ryuu before tucking them to bed. Ryuu observed her at how well she was handling her children.
'She's quite an amazing mother to take care of all five children alone huh…Her age seems to be around 35 but still retains her youth.'
He inwardly commented on how well people preserve their beauty in this era. Ryuu shook the thought, afraid that his compliment might be mistaken as flirting.
Ryuu has no plan on stealing her heart as it would be troublesome to explain to his parents. Though, if it had come then he needed to take responsibility.
"Ryuu-san, is something wrong?"
He turned to look at Kie who worried about his frown. Ryuu only shook his head to calm the woman.
"It's nothing, I've just thought of something troublesome."
After Kie tooke Ryuu to a room with a large space in the ground, as he turn to Kie who seemed to have a gaze filled with sentiment.
"This room...who owned this? "
For a short moment, Kie's heart filled with sadness but hurried faded. However, Ryuu was able to sense her aura and knew exactly what she felt.
"It's the room of my Late Husband..."
Even though he somehow knew and still asked felt a sense of guilt for bringing once again a bad memory.
"Oh..I'm sorry. "
She only shook her head and softly smiled at him. Kie liked how considerate he was towards other people.
"It's fine...also have a good night's rest, Ryuu-san and thank you for the dinner. I haven't seen my children this happy before."
Kie tried to not mention the reason for not being able to see her children happy. Ryuu tenderly smiled at the kindness of the woman before him.
"It's nothing, I mean I enjoy myself as well. Seeing them smile fills my heart. Also, Good night to you as well."
He gave one last smile before Kie left the room. Ryuu started absentmindedly at the ceiling pondering how his common sense had been twisted a bit.
'I wonder how my parents react upon seeing me bringing multiple women? I'll put that aside for now and think how I'll handle Justine?'
Ryuu thought about his best friend that would probably hate for what he had done. Even if he said it was because of a mission was still something he wanted and there's no denying that.
It was a bit stressful to try to satisfy each woman's needs. Though, he doesn't regret it doesn't mean they weren't part of him wanting to handle things a bit differently.
'I'll tell her about the chat as soon as I've finished my business with Diabolical.'
He nodded to himself recalling his mission to join an organization that was part of the supernatural in his world. Ryuu would educate himself about his world for a few weeks before speaking with Justine about everything.
'Fuck it I'll sleep for now.'
