Chapter 30: Chapter 30: If These Hands Could Use Magic

"What's the situation?"

Christine received the message and quickly rushed over, observing the patient being wheeled into the emergency room on a stretcher. She glanced at Strange, who was already losing control of his emotions while pushing the ambulance, furrowing her brow as she turned to the nurse beside her to inquire about what had happened.

"It's a traffic accident."

Christine nodded, swiftly assessing the patient's condition.

"No breathing or pulse, quickly administer a cardiac stimulant and take them to the operating room."

She instructed the nurse, "I'll prepare for this surgery."

"Victor! Victor!"

Strange shouted his brother's name as he pushed the gurney.

Upon arriving at the operating room, Kristin instructed the nurses and attendants to stop Strange from entering.

"Strange, your emotions are too unstable. Just wait here."

While preparing her surgical attire, Christine spoke to him.

"He's my brother; I'll perform the surgery!"

Strange broke free from the nurse's restraint, urgently insisting.

Hearing that the patient was his brother, Christine paused for a moment.

Taking a deep breath, Christine refused, "You're a neurosurgeon, Strange."

"I can do it!"

"No, you can't. Even if you could treat nerves, you cannot revive a stopped heart."

"Shut up!"

Strange rudely interrupted her, gasping, "I'll do it!"

"No! You've lost your calmness as a doctor, Strange."

Christine shook her head and walked towards the operating room.

With a bang, the operating room's door closed, leaving Strange outside.

Four hours later.

Christine found Strange sitting in the lounge area, slumped on a public chair, looking lost and defeated.

"Sorry, Strange."

Victor's injuries were too severe, despite her best efforts, she couldn't save him.

"No, it's not your fault."

Strange hung his head, extending his hands in front of his eyes.

"I thought these hands could save everything, but in the end, I realized I can't change anything."

Christine maintained her silence, unsure how to console her friend.

"When I was young, I aspired to become a doctor. My sister, Donna, drowned while I was in college. At that time, I vowed to use my hands to prevent such tragedies."

Strange's voice carried a calmness as he reverted to his proud genius doctor state.

"But now, Victor has died in front of me, and I still can't do anything."

Lifting his head, he looked at Christine with reddened eyes, placing his hands in front of him, "Are these 'Hands of God' actually 'Hands of Death'?"

Kristin sighed, saying, "We can't control everything, Strange. Treating patients may be why we become doctors, but I've always believed that treating diseases is the reason we become doctors, and treating patients is what makes doctors suffer."

Strange listened quietly to Kristin's words, lowering his hands, feeling once again the pain of not being able to control fate.

"If only we could turn back time..."

He stared at his hands, murmuring, "If these hands could use magic..."

He didn't continue, but Christine understood what he meant.

After a few minutes of silence, Strange raised his head and asked Christine, "Did the two people who sent Victor have any contact information?"

He suddenly remembered Gwen, who performed first aid on Victor, and Peter, who slapped him.

"No, they left directly, but they should both be patients at this hospital."

Christine had spoken to Peter before and knew he was a patient of Dr. Ryan.

As for how she knew about Gwen, after the tragic fire at Midtown High School, the girl was brought to the hospital. Kristin paid extra attention to this surviving girl, so she knew her information.

However, she was surprised that Peter Parker and Gwen knew each other.

"Peter Parker?"

Repeating the name Christine had told him, Strange reached up to touch the cheek where he had been slapped by Peter.

The swollen cheek still throbbed slightly.

The look in Peter's eyes and the slap left a deep impression on him.

Did he recognize him?

Why did he feel something unsettling from Peter's gaze?! Strange was deeply puzzled.

At night.

Osborn Industries main laboratory.

Norman Osborn, in the laboratory, answered the phone somewhat impatiently.

"Didn't I tell you? I don't want to be disturbed in the lab. Tell that bastard, there's no room for negotiation, none at all."

Norman tightened his tie angrily, addressing the lawyer on the other end of the line.

"No, he's disturbed me now, so don't blame me for disturbing him. As competitors, he should be prepared for this!"

With a click, Norman hung up the phone.

After dealing with company affairs, he turned his gaze to the instruments in the laboratory and the scientists conducting experiments.

Osborn Industries is currently researching a chemical product called the "Human Enhancement Formula."

Now that the research has reached a crucial stage, Norman Osborn's mood has become restless.

"This new invention concerns the nation's economic lifeline and the future and destiny of the company."

Speaking to himself in a low voice, he called over the scientist in charge of the experiment and asked, "What stage is the experiment at now?"

"Mr. Osborn, we're about to enter the human trial phase. The project is progressing smoothly."

"Very good. Remember, we don't have much time left."

After adjusting his tie, Norman Osborn gave a few orders to his subordinates and left the laboratory.

Just as he reached the corridor, his phone rang.

Picking up his phone, he found an email sent to his inbox.

Norman opened his phone and quickly browsed through the contents of the email.

It was the information he had instructed someone to investigate about the tragic incident at Midtown High School's football game.

The media reported that the cause of the tragedy was a fire caused by a circuit.

Being perceptive, he knew things weren't as simple as the media portrayed.

After all, there were many students and teachers at the scene who witnessed the Spider-Man killing people, and it wouldn't be easy for the government to cover it up.

The content of this email detailed the situation at the scene at the time, including many students' eyewitness testimonies.

"Peter Parker was also at the scene?"

Seeing Peter's name, he frowned.

It seemed he needed to pay attention to this seemingly inconspicuous classmate of Harry's.
