Chapter 22: Return
As soon as they left the planet, they saw thousands of extremely large ships floating and waiting for them. They weren't surprised to see these ships after all they knew who they belonged to, how and also why it was here.
During their rescue, the two sentries would come together and then proceed to absorb everything in its surrounding to create a massive vehicle for the people to be transported in.
Each of these vehicles contained thousands if not millions of people both human and alien that would be sorted out later and were all ready to embark on the return journey back to Earth but were only waiting for them.
As soon as they entered one of the ships, a massive boom tube appeared in front of them as the ships flew into them one after another.
Meanwhile back on Earth, an epic fight could be seen happening in the air above the city.
Darkseid remained standing in a single spot as he continually parried the attacks of the two heavy hitters, Superman and Wonder woman.
"This is getting us no where" Superman said sort of frustrated
"Endure, the plan is to waste as much time as possible before we can send them back to where they came from" Wonder woman said to console the blue scout
She could understand his frustration after all just like him, she had to hold back a lot just so they could save enough time for the other team to return.
Granted from how easy, Darkseid was parrying their attacks they could tell that he was powerful but if they could go all out then things wouldn't be so easy for Darkseid either.
"I know…" Superman said as he cleaned off his clothes and immediately blasted off heading straight for Darkseid
As soon as he left, Nathan crashed into the area he just left but immediately stood up due to the nature of his physiology.
At the moment, he may not be any different from any human or kryptonian but he couldn't feel pain at the moment and could heal from any injuries at any moment.
"How's your fight going?" Wonder woman asked clearly still resting unlike the blue scout who was powered by the sun
[Would you even call this a fight?] Nathan said as a huge cut in his abdomen started closing
"Lets hope they return quickly then" She said then immediately took off from the spot raising a cloud of dust as she joined superman in battle
[If only I could actually see them] Nathan said as he too blasted off to join the battle but with the cut now completely closed
Nathan sped off from the ground and immediately headed for the axe wielding horned giant known as Steppenwolf.
Unlike the Abomination displayed in the movies, this guy was no slouch even with two superman level characters attacking him, he was still holding his own.
Nathan only hoped that the team he sent to Apokalips would return quickly so they could end this fight as quickly as possible after all, all they were doing at the moment was simply to distract these New Gods from going back to Apokalips and find the result of their work.
{I know you guys have missed us but don't worry the cavalry has arrived} a familiar annoying voice, Nathan never expected he would be happy to hear was heard as a smile immediately bloomed on his face
