Chapter 32: The S-Class Bounty Mission

The principal hurried forward to check Peter's injuries, fearing the worst. He hadn't realized awakeners could be so fierce.

At that moment, John approached, pulling out a bottle of healing potion.

"Don't worry, sir. He's just passed out. A bit of this healing potion, and he'll be up in no time." John said, uncapping the potion and pouring the emerald liquid into Peter's mouth.

John was curious if it was possible to get athlete's foot in one's mouth.

So, he added just a tiny bit of the fungus...

Before long, Peter slowly opened his eyes, sitting up from the ground with a confused look. "What... what just happened?"

He was experiencing a slight concussion, barely remembering the recent events, resulting in temporary amnesia.

A member of the boxing club awkwardly said, "Dude, you just got kicked flying by John..."

"What?" Peter's face was full of surprise, initially thinking they were fooling him. He touched his face, feeling a pang of pain.

Using his phone as a mirror, Peter discovered his face was swollen like a pig's head, with a huge red shoe print making it look utterly ridiculous.

John squatted in front of him, chuckling, "How about it? Convinced now?"

Peter clenched his teeth, still feeling irked.

Of course, he wasn't convinced. He felt stifled, being a combat fighter and all!

How could he possibly be sent flying by a pharmacist's kick?

If this got out, he figured he wouldn't be able to mix in the awakener circles anymore.

"I'm convinced, okay? Happy now!" Despite his reluctance, Peter knew he had to admit defeat or else his classmates would see him as a sore loser.

John nodded in satisfaction, turning to the principal, "Sir, I'm fine with leading the team, but could I possibly request some assistance from the school?"

The principal had seen John's prowess. Having such a powerful awakener from Star Medical University was like indirect publicity. A little assistance was nothing.

"John, whatever you need, just ask." the principal assured, patting his chest, "The school will definitely provide you with the greatest support, both in terms of venue and material resources."

John immediately inquired, "Well, Sir, as a pharmacist, I need various potions and chemical ingredients for my research, so I was thinking..."

Before John could finish, the principal agreed, "No problem, I'll grant your student card the highest access. You can take whatever you need from the school's laboratory stores!"

"Thank you, Sir. This is a huge help." John said with a smile, making acquiring combat techniques much more convenient.

He had been worried about collecting various toxins, which could be somewhat challenging.

Especially some strictly regulated lethal poisons that were hard to come by, even with money.

With the school's backing, acquiring toxins would be much simpler. He could also save a lot of money.

With that, the meeting concluded. The principal had arranged a bus to take John and the others to the newly established Awakener's Guild for registration.

On the bus to the guild, John got to know the remaining members of the group.

Oliver, short and dark-skinned, looked sharp and shrewd, a member of the school's track team, awakened as a Rogue.

Fanny, a petite girl who seemed delicate, had awakened as a Ranger.

Raymond, the epitome of a nice guy with a reserved personality, spoke little during the trip, awakened as a Warrior.

Victoria sat next to John, sleeping most of the way, seemingly exhausted from making arrangements for her mother's funeral.

As for Peter, he sat there brooding, seemingly pondering where he went wrong.

He kept smacking his lips, feeling an itch inside his mouth...

After about a 15-minute ride, the school's bus stopped.

They were in the city center of Star City, where the former convention center, after overnight modifications, had become the headquarters of the Star City Awakener's Guild.

Upon arrival, John noticed a significant gathering.

As the provincial capital with a population of twenty million, Star City had its fair share of awakeners.

John estimated there were about two hundred people present for registration.

Most were between 20-30 years old, appearing quite young.

Before long, a familiar face greeted John and the group.

Andre first shook hands with the principal, exchanging pleasantries, before his gaze landed on John and Victoria.

"Both of you are from Star Medical University?" Andre asked with a smile.

John nodded, "Hello, Director Andre."

Andre laughed, correcting him, "Haha, I'm not the director anymore. I'm acting as the president of the Awakener's Guild."

Andre had been promoted honorably. Already part of the emergency response team and now an awakener, he was unanimously appointed president of the Awakener's Guild by the upper echelons.

"President Andre," John replied with a slight smile.

John understood that the first batch of awakeners were around 20-30 years old, while Andre looked nearly 50.

It must have been the awakening crystal John left behind that changed his fate.

Without becoming an awakener, Andre might have been injured or killed in a future battle against the creatures from another world.

But this was a good outcome. John could tell Andre was an upright man, a suitable choice for president.

The previous president, from before John's rebirth, was not a good person. After becoming president, he focused on enriching himself, embezzling funds meant for awakeners, eventually being impeached.

Under Andre's guidance, the group quickly completed their registration, officially becoming recorded awakeners.

Andre explained to the young people in front of him, "As long as you join the Awakener's Guild and complete the registration, based on different ratings, there will be corresponding subsidies every month."

"If you complete the conquest of a portal from another world or accomplish missions distributed by the guild, there will also be extra rewards." Andre took out a benefits chart, which was very clearly marked.

Oliver exclaimed excitedly, "Wow, doesn't that mean we've got ourselves a secure job!"

Andre nodded, "Haha, you could say that. Even the lowest-rated C-class awakeners get a subsidy of five thousand yuan a month."

The students were thrilled; the subsidy was a life guarantee, almost as if just by registering, without even needing to complete any tasks, they could collect money every month directly.

Only John, looking at the chart, couldn't help but smile knowingly.

It seemed the management of the Awakener's Guild must have seen his document by now.

In that document, he had also detailed a very mature guild operation mechanism that could effectively motivate awakeners to register and desire to improve their own strength.

Although these things seemed simple, before John's rebirth, it took nearly a year for guilds everywhere to summarize these points.

He had indeed played a role in promoting the formalization process of the guild.

After everyone had registered, Andre called John and Victoria aside.

"The two of you, I have something I want to confirm with you." Andre looked at John and asked, "The portal from another world at Star Medical University, was it also closed by you two?"

Victoria didn't speak. This matter had nothing to do with her. But she had previously deduced that the portal from another world must have been John's doing.

John looked at Victoria and then smiled, saying, "Yes, it was us."

Victoria, very cooperative, nodded along when John said this.

Andre nodded, "I thought so. It seems the two of you have already been partners in numerous battles."

"If I'm not mistaken, the two of you should be the strongest among the awakeners in Star City right now." Andre was very sure in his heart.

After all, the portal from another world had been in a blocked state before, and most awakeners had no opportunity to hunt monsters, naturally unable to gain experience and level up.

John spoke up, "Sir, please speak your mind."

"Alright, I won't beat around the bush." Andre laughed, then his expression became serious, "Currently in Star City, there are still two portals from another world that urgently need someone to close them."

Andre offered generous terms, "If the two of you can close them, I can directly promote your guild level to the highest S-class."
