Chapter 2: CHAPTER 2: Roommates and Rivals.
The Hogwarts Express chugged along the countryside, carrying its cargo of excited students to their new home. Ethan and his compartment-mates chatted and laughed, getting to know each other better.
As they approached Hogsmeade Station, Professor McGonagall's voice came over the loudspeaker, "First years, please follow the prefects to the Great Hall for the sorting ceremony!"
The boys grabbed their bags and followed the prefects to the Great Hall. The long tables were filled with students, all chatting and eager to start their journey.
Professor McGonagall stood at the front, the Sorting Hat beside her. "Welcome, first years! The Sorting Hat will determine which house you will join. Remember, your house is your family, your support, and your rivalry!"
One by one, the students were called up to the stool, where the hat was placed on their heads. Ethan was the first of his group to be called.
"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouted, and Ethan made his way to the Gryffindor table, where he was greeted with cheers and applause.
Liam was next, and the hat declared, "RAVENCLAW!" Liam joined the Ravenclaw table, where he was welcomed with nods of approval.
Alexander was sorted into SLYTHERIN, Julian into GRYFFINDOR, Gabriel into RAVENCLAW, and Oliver into HUFFLEPUFF.
As the sorting ceremony came to a close, the boys looked around at their new classmates and smiled. They were all in different houses, but they had already formed a bond that would last a lifetime.
"Hey, Blackwood!" a voice called out from the Slytherin table. "You think Gryffindor is better than Slytherin?" Alexander sneered, a mischievous glint in his eye.
Ethan grinned, "Oh, I don't think, Ravenwood. I know Gryffindor is the best!"
The Great Hall erupted in cheers and laughter, and the boys knew that the rivalry between houses had already begun.
As they made their way to their dormitories, Ethan and his friends couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. What adventures lay ahead? What challenges would they face? And how would their friendships and rivalries shape their journey at Hogwarts?
