Chapter 12: The dress

"Risaaaa"

Along with a bright smile, Luke approached the woman who was working at her desk in the noon. It was breaktime but she stayed with Mian to finish the project together. "I hate how he calls you like that" A murmur crawled up between Mian's lips as she furrowed brows.

"Yes?" L stood up. "It is time. Boss is asking you to tag along" Luke appeared exhilarated in this matter. "Wait, that's today?" Mian, on the other side, gasped in realization. Her friend told her about this but she forgot which day it was! "Sir! Is she going alone with Boss?"

Jumping up from the seat, Mian threw a question. Eyes glowing in curiosity. "No, I am going along too" Luke beamed. Draining the woman's hopes. "Why does he have to third wheel them?" "What'd you say?" Luke blinked. "Oh, nothing, Sir! Be careful, Larissa" Mian patted L.

"I am not going to war" L retorted. "Shut up. You never know what the Boss is up to" Mian shot a glare while Luke quieted down. This was the kind of chat these two had every day? It seemed most considered his friend, Adelio as a terrifying and unexpected man.

"Where are we going, Sir?"

On the way to the lift, L asked. "Just call me Luke" The man flashed a smile. "Oh, but-" "It's okay. Call me Luke. We are going to shop for the welcome party. Adelio is already waiting for us in his car" Luke explained. "Ah, Clothes?" She frowned. "Mhm, for both of you"

A grin spread across Luke's face. They stepped inside the elevator. "What? Boss is buying for me too?" L gasped. But of course, she was aware from the beginning. It was easy to make a guess as soon as he stated his destination. "Shit, I spilled it. He is going to kill me"

"Shit, it was supposed to be a surprise" With palm above mouth, Luke panicked. Making the woman press her lips to restrain laughter. "I will pretend to be clueless when we head there. Rest assured, Luke" L flashed a smile as the man pouted. "I knew you were a fallen angel"

Upon his statement, L chuckled. This man did not match her expectation at all. Such an adorable personality with a man strength. As they two reached the ground level, Luke asked L to walk from front. "He's there" Luke muttered. "Boss!" Beneath a grin, L greeted the man.

He leaned on car.

Hands in the pockets as his frown expressed the displeasure. Howbeit, once he heard the woman's shout, Adelio's face brightened. He turned. Observing the woman approaching him. "Did I make you wait for too long?" L furrowed brows, showing concern clearly.

"No, not at all" Adelio shook his head. Luke, on the other side, beamed over the sight of the two greeting. It might not be obvious for others to see but as his friend, Luke could notice how nervous and delighted Adelio was. "What are you standing there for, Luke?"

The man's voice rang. "Oh! Sorry!" Promptly, Luke rushed up to open the car door for the two. "Thanks" L expressed gratitude. "Wait, I am sitting with Boss? Wouldn't it be inappropriate?" As she stepped in the backseat, L threw a question. Batting her eyelashes innocently.

Adelio's gaze swayed as Luke stepped in to the driver's seat. "No one is telling it's inappropriate. Not that they can. As for today, you can drop the Boss. We are just going to shop for the welcome party as partners" His words caused Luke to smile. "Partners?" L frowned.

Her mind span with thoughts.

Was this the sign of her winning his heart slowly? "Why? Do you have any problem with that?" Adelio peered down. Making the woman shake her head in an instant. "No, no. I am fine with that. I just thought you would be uncomfortable" L fidgeted. Lowering head.

The sight tickled the man's heart. Adelio inhaled deeply. "I don't mind..." A mutter crawled up between his lips while Luke could not stop grinning to hear his friend's statements. "We have arrived" Luke's voice conquered the silence. He opened the car door for both.

Meanwhile, L stared at the huge building across them. The mall where all the brands could be seen within together. "Is there any problem?" Noticing the frozen reaction of the woman, Adelio queried. "Ah, no. I was thinking how expensive it would be to shop here" L smiled.

Right. She could not ask him to buy her everything at this stage. He had not realized his true feelings. He was just the Boss. She had to play the poor character still instead of treating him like a sugar daddy. "It is not expensive" Adelio retorted. "Well, maybe not for you?"

L tilted her head.

This man must be richy rich so that he did not find these brands expensive! "My! My! Come on! We should head in!" Luke patted his friend as a beckon to stop. "Yeah, we should" L nodded. They three began their shopping session. The mall was not packed. It was still spacious enough.

Adelio did not have to fear the crowd either. "Wow, the diamonds are blinding me almost" Although she was walking with Adelio beside her, L talked to Luke who's behind them. Showing her comfort around Luke in front of the man. "I know right. These jewelry shops are doing too much to grab the attention"

Luke joked around.

Causing the woman to beam.

Somehow, it upset the man beside. A scowl was seen on Adelio's face. Risa kept ignoring him. She wouldn't utter a word to him at all. She just kept chatting with his friend as if he did not exist. "I should come here with Mian when we have time" L stated. "Tag me along too"

Luke pleaded. "Sure!" The sight of the two smiling at each other could make the outsiders misunderstand even. "Luke, why don't you go get some coffee for us?" Out of the blue, Adelio demanded, scowling in vexation. Both L and Luke smiled, with different thoughts.

"We are just friends, Adelio"

Patting his friend's back, Luke rushed away before the man could do something. It caused the woman to press her lips. Restraining the laughter. Was this the jealousy she's smelling? "This guy..." Through gritted teeth, Adelio glared at Luke's back. His ears flushed.

Embarrassment glowing on his expression. "Shall we wait for him?" L interrupted. Wearing a smile still. "No, we should go. He will follow after us once the task is done" Adelio refused to drag his friend along. He could not endure their overfriendly interactions. "Oh, okay"

How could L protest? This was such good news to see the man being jealous. The love started to get exposed with jealousy. This was a good thing. "Welcome, Sir. We have received the call from our Ma'am" bowing, the manager of the shop came to greet the two. "She is the one"

Adelio wagged his head to beckon at the manager. All the eyes fell upon the woman now. There she was. The woman they had been wanting to meet due to the fact that Adelio personally requested the owner of shop to design a dress for his employee. "Please follow us, Miss"

The manager grinned.

L's eyes lifted. Looking up at the man in confusion. "Go on. They will show you the dress. It's been made already" Along with a nod, Adelio assured. L's lips curved up. He prepared everything! She would not have to go through several dresses to find the best one thanks to him.

"Then, please take me to there" L followed the manager to the dressing room while the man waited on the lounge outside. "Sir, shall I get some drinks for you?" "No, my assistant is getting one" Adelio raised his hand. "Ah, I see. We have also prepared the suit for you, Sir"

One informed. "I know. But I would like to see my partner in dress first" Leaning on the lounge with arms crossed, Adelio disclosed. The way he addressed the woman 'partner' stunned others. Not the employee but partner. It made others smile; "My apologies" They backed up.

In the dressing room, L found herself in a glittery white dress. Long sleeves and shoulder-off, there was a long slit up till thigh, tightening the waist with corset. "I knew this would look good on you, Miss!" The manager praised. Causing the woman to lower her head.

"Thanks. The dress is really pretty"

Tucking her hair behind ear, L complimented the dress. "Our Ma'am drew the design for you, Miss. Sir Adelio personally requested for this dress" Chuckling, the manager notified. They all sounded delighted over this situation as well. "He takes care of employees always"

L indirectly denied the allegations. "My! This is the first time Sir Adelio has requested though! You must be the lucky one!" The manager teased. Putting the woman up in the clouds. "You are flattering me!" L waved her hand. "Is Sir Adelio there?" The manager turned to ask.

Earning a nod from the girls. "Miss Larissa, we should step out to show your Boss" Beaming, he requested. "Wouldn't it be unnecessary? I think this is enough" L fidgeted. Playing her character even behind the curtains. "Of course not! Sir must want to see as well!"

As L stepped out of the curtains due to the push of manager, Adelio's gaze shifted. His eyes slowly swayed down from head to toes. Perfect figure, perfect length, and perfect dress. The stunned silence of the man caused L to furrow her brows. "Does it look okay, Boss?" L queried.

Only to receive unexpected answer.

"You are pretty as always"
