Chapter 18: Chapter 18 Lagos

In Lagos Africa the Avengers had also just returned from the mission to the Avengers Hq with a solemn mood.

The mission was to stop Brock Rumlow (Crossbones) from stealing a biological weapon in Lagos, Nigeria.

Essentially what happened in the mission was that Captain America once discovering them began a chase for there gang through the streets of lagos.

Which led to a decisive battle between Crossbones and Captain America who managed to ultimately win disarming him.

However, Crossbones was not willing to just get arrested and let that be the end of his story for a long time.

He was wearing a suicide vest and he triggered it to explode the moment Captain dropped his gaurd thinking that was it from Crossbones.

Crossbones plan was a suicide explosion in a final attempt to kill captain America.

Unfortunetly for Crossbones brave plan Wanda acted using her emotions used a catalyst to increase her telekinetic powers she lifted Rumlow[Crossbones] into the air hoping to save Captain America and the innocent civilians that were around.

Since this battle had moved all the way towards where people had placed down several street stalls.

Rumlow had run here in the start to escape with the biological weapons but he failed to escape the pursuit of Capatin which had led to this confrontation in the first place.

Wanda using the last bit of her powers trying to restrict the explosion Unfortunately it was to powerful, Wanda lost control of it.

In the split second she had before the explosion reached the ground she redirected the explosion towards a close by building.

The blast detonated near the building, causing a significant portion of it to explode.

Wanda never imagined that the small bomb vest Rumlow wore would be that powerfull.

On there flights back they were happy that there mission was completed successfully yet at the cost of so much damage, making this mission a partial failure in there minds.

They all wished they could have done more but turning back time was not possible.

Unbeknownst to them this building would soon be revealed to contain Wakandan humanitarian workers who there were many casualties of.

Which would officially kick of another online meeting between the UN countries representatives, started by Thaddeus Ross to establish the Sokovia Accords.

This time Nick couldn't stop Ross anymore and the conditions were drafted something Ross was looking forward to personally deliver to he Avengers.

The official Signing of the Accords was decided to be held in a week in Vienna and differing from the movies there was another special clause put forward by Ross.

And that stated that Wright was required to sign or else be marked as a criminal and share part of the blame of Sokovia with Ultron.

His argument was due to the special nature of Wrights powers.

Something they still didn't know fully about due to Nick.

But Nick made it clear that Wright was not part of the Avengers so therefore technically these Accords could not be imposed on Wright which infuriated Ross to no ends bur he could only let it go.

'One step at a time' Ross chanted in his mind to soothe his anger and a special kind hatred arose in his heart for Nick since he had been constantly blocking his way ever since Iron man appeared.

Nick on the other hand knew what a terrible idea forcing Wright's hand would be especially now that he was learning under that mysterious person to make himself even stronger.

Wright however was unbothered by all of this as his day to day training continued.

About 3 days later Ross appeared in the Avengers HQ and served up the papers, explaining to them what it was and that they had essentially no choice.

Either accept the Sokovia Accords or Retire, Ross gave them a timespan of 4 days before the signing of the Accord.

The Avengers had then sat in the pantry room to discuss what there next steps should be.

The team debated the merits and drawbacks of the Accords.

This discussion highlighted the ideological rift between those who support government oversight and those who value autonomy

Both parties having equally good reasonings.

Some members, like Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), supported the Accords to prevent further conflict between the Avengers whom she had begun to see as her family, while others, like Sam Wilson (Falcon), sided with Steve.

From Tony Stark perspective, he supports the Accords.

He was motivated by guilt over his creation of Ultron and along with a personal encounter with Miriam Sharpe, a woman who lost her son in Sokovia who blamed him for the death of her outstanding son who was there in sokovia because he wanted to see the world.

He was there for humanitarian purposes helping in building houses, educating people who had no opportunities to be educated, before he settled down on a desk job.

Tony believed that government oversight is necessary to prevent further unintended consequences of their actions.

Steve Rogers opposed the Accords.

He believed that government control could lead to the Avengers being used for political agendas and that their ability to act independently is crucial.

Steve's distrust was also fueled by his experience with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s corruption by Hydra.

Just when the debate come to a stand still Steve recived a message informing him of the peacefull death of Peggy Carter which prompted him to excuse himself out of the room.

He then proceeded to travel to London for the funeral and carried the casket on his shoulders of his once beloved Peggy all the way into the church for the mourning.
