Chapter 35: Chapter 34 Auction
Alexia slowly made her way through the crowd towards the main stage waving at and greeting people she knew.
Jane followed close behind her in her manager mode.
As she climbed onto the stage which already had musical instruments on she approached the microphone on the middle before addressing the crowd.
"Ladies and gentlemen, my friends, thank you all for coming to the after party to mark the end of my year long world tour."
There was polite applause and Alexia waited until it died down before she continued."
"I am sure everyone has already heard the sad news regarding the illness of Peter Fitzleberg and he has asked me to pass on his personal apology that he can no longer be here tonight.
At this moment Michael noticed out of the corner of his eye a man in a white suit with blonde hair trying to edge closer to the stage.
He tapped Gracie and Sarah on the shoulders before indicating with his head where they should look, both ladies wore mischievous smiles and giggled quietly when they notice Jake Daniels.
"Unfortunately with dear Peters sudden illness it raised the question of what to do with the first dance." Alexia continued.
"First off I would like to thank all the people who sent me offers to be Peters replacement in the first dance but there was simply no way I could bring myself to only pick one of you while disappointing the rest." This caused murmurs of wonder around the room.
"Since that is the case a close and dear friend of mine made what I believe is an excellent suggestion and the best solution." Alexia continued as she built up the suspense.
By now Jake was looking confused as he believed it was a guarantee that he would have the first dance.
After all he had investigated and knew that only he had offered to be a replacement for the first dance.
"The solution that my close friend came up with was to auction the first dance off to everyone here with the winning amount being donated to 'The Emerald Lakes' new charity that we have just created called 'The Lake Foundation'."
The guests at first surprised by the turn of events soon began to whisper excitedly.
The men who came with their partners were clearly asking for permission for the right to bid.
By now Jake had first a dumbfounded expression and then anger as he realized what this meant.
He had no hope of winning an auction for the first dance with so many wealthy people here and he could not complain because it involved a donation to charity.
Over on there side Michael, Gracie and Sarah were all enjoying the show as they watched Jake's facial features continually change.
"Now the auction will be rather simple, someone just needs to name an amount and we will start from there with increments no less that one hundred pounds and we will continue until no one is willing to outbid the last offer and then we will have our winner" Alexia said with a smile.
"Who would like to begin?" She asked the crowd
"One million pounds" almost instantaneously a man raised his hand and shouted his offer.
"How generous you are with your starting bid Mr Graves." Alexia said with a smile.
As if that smile she gave personally to Mr Greaves was a trigger causing everyone to want one shouts came think and fast.

The amount kept increasing like a rocket and Michael stood there stunned listening to the crazy amounts.
"Now do you realise how popular Alexia is? Just one dance with her is already worth 15 million and you're the one that his lady likes." Sarah said with a smile.
"Even if I was willing to accept her feelings and date her, how could I match up to her? We are from different worlds, I can't match up to anyone in the room." Michael responded in a tone that caught Sarah and Gracie off guard, almost. As if he admitted defeat.
Gracie and Sarah looked at each other before Gracie said in a firm voice " you don't get it do you Mike. She has never cared about your wealth or financial situation, she has enough money for you both to live happily for several lifetimes, what she wants is someone who will treat her like a normal person and not like a treasure or some object."
"She already gets that all the time with being the world's most popular celebrity, she wants someone who will be honest and straight with her that is not one of the four queens." Gracie finished with a small smile
Michael didn't reply but only nodded and the girls could tell he was considering Gracie's words.
"300 million going once"
"Going twice"
"Sold to Mr Steven's, thank you for your donation of 300 million pounds to The Lake Foundation."
"Jane if you would be so kind as to facilitate the donation with Mr Steven's people while we make our way to the dance floor." Alexia said smiling at Mr Steven's.
"Of course Alexia, Mr Steven's if your people could please join me over here." Jane said as she moved to the side with Mr Steven's people and handled the donation.
Alexia accepted Mr Steven's hand as he helped her from the stage and guided her to the center of the room where people moved back to give them room to dance.
As she left the stage a band came out from behind the stage and took up the instruments that were there.
As the music started they began to move around the room and Alexia shot a Quick Look towards Michael out of the corner of her eye.
However she noticed he was no longer looking her way and was instead getting drinks for Sarah and Gracie, she was sad for a moment but quickly overcame that when she remembered something.
"Your refills my ladies." Michael said as he offered the drinks to Sarah and Gracie who replied with "why thank you" and smiles.
At that moment Jane came over to them and immediately being offered a drink by Michael "champagne my lady?"
"Your lady?" Jane asked to which Sarah and Gracie giggled before Gracie said "apparently it's a figure of speech tho he keeps addressing us in such way when he gives us refills."
"I see thank you Mike." Jane replied with a smile.
"So did the transfer go through ok?" Sarah asked
"Of course 'The Lake Foundations' very first donation is for 300 million pounds." Jane answered with a smile.
"Excellent we will hold a meeting to discuss the best way to allocate those funds the day after tomorrow." Sarah nodded before returning her focus to Alexia.
"Did you see Jake Daniels face?" Gracie asked Jane with a giggle
"Indeed it was very hard not to laugh up the stage when I saw his face." Jane giggled back.
"I would not laugh to soon." Michael suddenly said interrupting the two friend's conversation.
"Why what's wrong?" Jane asked as all four of them focused on Jake Daniels who face now showed determination.
"If I'm not wrong he just steeled his resolve and I expect him to be in front of Miss Demonte as soon as the dance ends." Michael explained and as if on queue the music finished and as Mr Steven's escorted Alexia off the dance floor she became surrounded be people requesting a dance and Jake Daniels immediately moved in her direction.
"There he goes" Gracie said with a sigh.
