Chapter 9: Chapter 8

Arthur and Leon squared off at the edge of the forest, ready for a Pokémon battle. Arthur stood confidently with Froakie at his side, while Leon had Shinx poised for action. The battle was about to begin, and both trainers were ready to test their skills.

Leon gave the first command with a determined shout, "Shinx, use Charge!"

Arthur's Pokedex in his pocket buzzed with information, explaining the effects of Charge. Shinx would focus its energy to raise its electric power for the next electric-type move.

Arthur, not one to wait around, quickly gave Froakie an order. "Froakie, use Frubbles to lock down Shinx!"

Froakie deftly summoned bubbles from its mouth, launching them at Shinx. The Frubbles hit Shinx, and the electric Pokémon was now stuck, but it continued to charge up energy. Leon grinned, knowing that once Shinx finished charging, they would be ready to unleash a powerful move.

"Shinx, try using Tackle to gain momentum and break free!" Leon commanded.

Arthur wasn't about to give Shinx the chance to settle, so he called out, "Froakie, use Water Gun continuously!"

Froakie began hammering Shinx with Water Gun attacks. Just as Shinx was struggling to withstand the onslaught, something unexpected happened—the electric Pokémon began to glow with an intense light, undergoing evolution!

Both trainers watched in awe as the light dimmed and Shinx evolved into Luxio. Arthur's Pokedex chimed, providing information on Luxio's new abilities and attributes.

Leon couldn't contain his excitement. "Yes! Shinx evolved! Luxio, use Spark!"

Luxio charged up a spark of electricity, and just as the evolution light vanished, it unleashed a powerful Spark attack. Arthur knew Froakie was at a disadvantage, so he hurriedly commanded, "Froakie, cover yourself in Frubbles to minimize the Spark damage!"

Froakie quickly surrounded itself with Frubbles as Luxio's Spark hit, reducing the damage. Arthur saw his chance to strike back. "Froakie, use Quick Attack!"

Froakie moved with incredible speed, catching Luxio off guard. The quick attack landed a direct hit on Luxio, surprising Leon. Arthur was on a roll now and called out, "Froakie, finish the fight with Water Gun!"

Froakie unleashed a torrent of water, hitting Luxio hard and knocking it out. The battle was over, and Arthur had emerged victorious.

Leon returned Luxio to its Pokéball and walked over to Arthur, a smile on his face. "That was an awesome battle, Arthur! Thanks for the great match."

Arthur nodded, equally pleased. "Likewise, Leon! You and Shinx—I mean Luxio—have a lot of potential."

Leon chuckled and nodded. "We'll keep training and improving. Now, it's time for me to head to Cyllage City for my first gym battle against Grant. See you around, Arthur!"

Arthur waved goodbye to Leon as he departed, heading off on his journey. With the battle behind him, Arthur hopped on his bike and set his sights on Route 4. He felt a sense of accomplishment, knowing he and Froakie had performed well in the battle. The journey ahead held more challenges, but Arthur was ready to face them with confidence and excitement.

-----------

Arthur set his sights on Route 4, a picturesque route known for its wildflower gardens and as the perfect location to catch Fairy-type Pokémon. His journey there had a dual purpose: not only did he hope to catch two desired Pokémon, but he also planned to challenge the Santalune City gym after exploring Route 4.

As he drove his bike along the road, Arthur savored the feeling of the wind against his face. The Kalos region was vibrant and lush, and the bike ride felt like freedom personified. He enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of green hills and fields of colorful flowers, taking in the beauty of his surroundings as he cruised along. He probably should have been wearing a helmet, but with no such laws in place, he reveled in the breeze tousling his hair.

Eventually, Arthur reached the vast wildflower garden area of Route 4. He could see trainers scattered across the area, some engaged in battles while others were attempting to catch new Pokémon. He parked his bike in a safe spot and made his way into the forest of flowers, searching for an orange Flabébé.

The gardens were a vibrant blend of colors, with various species of flowers in full bloom, their petals dancing in the gentle breeze. Among the flowers, Arthur noticed groups of young Flabébé following Florges, the final form of Flabébé, gracefully floating among the blooms. It was a sight that brought a smile to his face, seeing the Pokémon living harmoniously with nature.

However, one Flabébé caught his attention. Unlike the others, this orange-colored Flabébé didn't follow the Florges. Arthur was puzzled when he observed it. This Flabébé had some visible battle marks on its small body—unusual for a Pokémon line known for its peace-loving demeanor. It seemed this little Flabébé was a bit of a rebel.

Curious, Arthur approached the orange Flabébé, trying to gain its trust. But the little Pokémon had no intention of backing down; it attacked Arthur with Vine Whip, catching him off guard. Arthur realized that this Flabébé was quite the battle maniac, possibly explaining why it was left out of the group.

Arthur knew this Flabébé would make an excellent addition to his team with its fighting spirit and unique character. He quickly released Froakie from its Pokéball, ready to engage in battle and capture the wild Flabébé.

"Froakie, let's go!" Arthur called out, as Froakie landed with a splash, its webbed feet kicking up some water.

The orange Flabébé prepared itself for battle, twirling gracefully with its tiny flower in hand.

"Start with a Water Gun attack, Froakie!" Arthur commanded.

Froakie launched a stream of water at Flabébé, who adeptly dodged the attack, floating out of harm's way with impressive agility. It retaliated with another Vine Whip, which Froakie nimbly avoided.

"Try using Frubbles to slow it down!" Arthur called.

Froakie followed Arthur's command, summoning bubbles from its mouth that formed a sticky web around the Flabébé, hindering its movements. Flabébé struggled to break free from the Frubbles but could not completely escape their grip.

Arthur saw his chance and took out a Pokéball. "Let's capture it! Pokéball, go!"

He threw the ball, and it hit Flabébé. The Pokémon disappeared into the ball, and it began to wiggle. Arthur and Froakie watched as the ball shook once, twice, and then clicked shut.

"Yes! We did it, Froakie!" Arthur cheered, giving his Pokémon a high-five. "We've caught the orange Flabébé!"

Froakie croaked happily, satisfied with their new team member. Arthur picked up the Pokéball and pocketed it, feeling accomplished.

With one of his goals met, Arthur knew his next step was to continue exploring Route 4 and keep an eye out for his next desired Pokémon. His journey was just beginning, and he was ready for the challenges and adventures ahead.
