Duke, devoid of a shadow himself, wasn't particularly concerned. However, when it came to profit, why ignore one of humanity's oldest professions?
Duke envisioned Zed creating the most elite assassin group in the pirate realm. Money held sway, and Duke desired it all.
"As you command," Lord Celestial Dragons of Shadow Stream affirmed, his voice dripping with lethal intent. "No one can escape their shadow. The ignorant are doomed. Shall I eliminate the intruder for you?"
Meanwhile, outside the secret chamber, Ahri faced a formidable opponent—Daz Bonez, a killer with steel knives for hands.
"Care for a game?" Daz Bonez taunted, his blades ready.
"Don't provoke my wrath," Ahri warned softly, her nine tails swaying behind her. Her orb emitted an eerie glow.
As a Nine Tails demon fox with S+ potential, Ahri had risen to level three after Graves's triumph over several mafia families. Her combat prowess now rivaled that of a Navy Headquarters Vice Admiral.
Among all Duke's heroes, Ahri stood as a formidable force.
Except for Gangplank, who achieved the highest level through mass killings, Ahri stood out as Duke's most potent asset.
Daz Bonez frowned at the sight of the beautiful yet dangerous Ahri but remained silent. His entire body seemed to transform instantly, emanating a steel-like hardness and coldness.
As the renowned killer of West Blue, Daz Bonez sensed the imminent danger posed by Ahri. Consuming the Aokiji fruit (Hie Hie no Mi), he could transform not only his limbs but also his entire body and internal organs into hard steel. Without superior swordsmanship, powerful Devil Fruit abilities, or Armament Haki, Daz Bonez was a formidable adversary.
However, facing Ahri and Celestial Dragons, he stood little chance. Just as he prepared to strike Ahri, Zed's shadowy shuriken, infused with the power of shadows, pierced through his body.
Unaccustomed to the Baroque Working Society and lacking experience in subsequent battles, Daz Bonez's combat power was now comparable to a Colonel in the Navy Headquarters, impressive in West Blue but inadequate for Duke's ambitions.
Despite his injury, Daz Bonez groaned and launched a counterattack with his sharp-edged hands. But before he could strike, Celestial Dragons vanished into the void, evading his attack.
Daz Bonez's blade sliced through nothing but the invisible shadow, causing blood to spray in front and behind him simultaneously.
The wounds inflicted on Daz Bonez were deep enough to expose bone, yet he merely shook his body slightly before standing strong and expressionless, his hands transforming into sharp blades once more as he kept a vigilant watch on Z and Ahri.
Surrendering to death was never Daz Bonez's style. Duke, observing Daz Bonez's tenacity, asked in a deep voice, "Daz Bonez, can you tell me who hired you to kill me?"
Daz Bonez remained silent, preferring not to engage in useless chatter or disclose his employer's identity.
"Never mind, I can make an educated guess," Duke continued, frustration evident. "In West Blue, only the major mafia families would pay handsomely to eliminate my people. But using my own funds to hire you? Outrageous!"
The five major mafia families in West Blue were essentially under Duke's control, making their wealth his own. Duke's complaint made Daz Bonez's mouth twitch slightly, indicating he might have something to say.
However, Duke's tone shifted to a more serious one. "Someone like you shouldn't meet his end in a backwater like West Blue. I aim to create the most formidable assassin group globally, to instill fear worldwide.
