Chapter 19: First experience
"I trust Kakashi-sensei already saw it, but he must be waiting for something" Looking at the back of the man in front of him, Naruto continued whispering "Let's wait and see what happens, but stay alert."
Nodding silently as he slowly brought his hands to his pockets, Sasuke clutched several kunais and ninja stars between his fingers and took his eyes off the puddle to dissemble.
Passing by the puddle without even giving it a glance, but having his senses to the fullest, sweat ran down Naruto's forehead as they slowly walked away from the place.
-They're coming!-
Hearing Kurama's roar, adrenaline instantly pumped his body as his blood flowed rapidly expanding all his senses to the maximum in the face of deadly danger, then quickly taking his tired hands to his pocket and pulling out two kunais and taking them one in each hand.
Clang Clank Clank Clang Clank Clank
Instantly, a loud noise of metal chains rattling surrounded the place, while everyone turned their gazes to the back and more than one watched in horror as they saw Kakashi completely covered in sharp chains while two unknown ninjas appeared beside him.
"W-what!?" With shock, Sakura's eyes twitched and her mind instantly froze as she stuttered.
""The first one!""
Speaking at the same time, the assassins waved their arms and in just a few seconds, blood splattered everywhere and large chunks of what appears to be flesh fell to the ground kicking up dust and covering what should be a horrible sight.
With horror in her eyes and letting out a frightened scream, Sakura took a step back as her trembling hand pulled out a Kunai from between her clothes.
Teeth chattering from nervousness and an instinctive horror at the sight of the bloody scene, Naruto forced himself to calm his fluttering heart as he clenched the Kunais tightly in his hands, only to watch in slow motion as the duo quickly moved at an abnormal speed and positioned themselves at his back.
""The second one""
Clang Clank Clank Clang Clank Clank
Going blank for a microsecond, Naruto's pupils shrunk to the max and feeling a chilling chill run down his neck, he quickly ducked and dodged the chains that passed at the level of his head, then released the kunais and with a fierce look, brought both of his palms towards the duo's faces.
Splash Thud Splash Thud
With two loud and chilling noises, suddenly Naruto's body was covered in blood and brain matter as his vision was covered in red, only to crumple his face from the pain and let out a slight grunt as he clutched one hand with the other "Ugh!"

"..."
Eyes wide open as time seemed to stop in front of their eyes, the alert trio watched in horror as blood continued to flow from the two headless corpses on the ground while their limbs continued to tremble as if their own bodies still failed to comprehend that the life in them ended.
"N-naruto, y-you..." Stepping back with an even greater horror in her gaze as her face turned deathly pale, Sakura looked at the blood-drenched young man stuttering in disbelief.
"..." With a shaky look as his gaze alternated between the corpses and then Naruto, Sasuke's eyebrows twitched and he focused his attention on Naruto's blank stare as his hands shook, then quickly put away his weapons and pulled out a piece of cloth between his pockets "Here, wipe yourself."
"W-what?" turning his gaze to Sasuke still unable to process what happened, Naruto looked at him and then looked at the cloth, only to nod dazedly and take it with difficulty.

"..."
Staring at the cloth between his hands, Naruto blinked a few times as the realization slowly hit him, then looking closely at the viscous blood covering his hands and arms and watching especially the brain matter slipping like jelly between his clothes.
Opening and closing his mouth like a fish out of water, Naruto's face turned pale and then green, only to bring his aching hands to his stomach and unable to resist, vomit all the ramen he ate in the morning onto the corpses.
"Blaargh!" shuddering as a terrible coldness covers his body, Naruto continued vomiting for a few more seconds until he emptied his stomach, then closing his eyes tightly and gritting his teeth.
Pulling a bottle of water out of his backpack and having his face calm again, Sasuke stretched it towards Naruto "Drink, it will make you feel better."
"..." Breathing shakily as his usually brilliant mind stagnated, Naruto slowly opened his eyes and turned his gaze towards the bottle, then taking it between his trembling hands and opening taking the cap off with difficulty.
Gulp Gulp Gulp Gulp Gulp
Standing up properly again, Naruto noisily drank the water and closed his eyes tightly as his head lifted, then finished every last drop from the bottle and handed it to Sasuke as he mumbled faintly, "Thank you."
"It's okay..." Receiving the bottle and noticing the blood covering it, Sasuke continued "You should clean yourself."
"Yeah..." Opening his eyes again, but this time regaining clarity in his gaze, Naruto stared at the blood on his hands and especially felt the warm goo on his face and neck, then turning and walking slowly towards the direction of the stream.
Suddenly appearing in the middle of the group, Kakashi stared at the corpses on the ground and then turned his gaze to Naruto who was walking away in the distance.
"S-sensei!" instantly noticing Kakashi, Sakura exclaimed with joy "H-he's alive!"
With confusion, Sasuke turned his gaze to where he saw the blood fall and looked at the numerous logs lying on the ground as he thought 'So he really knew and was prepared.'
Nodding towards Sakura with a serious look, Kakashi approached the two corpses and crouched down in front of them, then looked closely at the shattered necks of the corpses and muttered "I don't understand... what technique is this?"
"I think it's not a technique" Approaching Kakashi, Sasuke stared at the bloody scene and continued "It's the same thing he did with the rubber balls."
"Rubber balls?" Frowning slightly, Kakashi looked up at Sasuke and continued "What rubber balls?"
"Lately I've been training with Naruto" Thinking for a few seconds, Sasuke continued "And during these days he was training his chakra control... his last training was to inject his chakra into rubber balls and make them explode, that's why he has his chakra channels worn out today"
Opening his eyes a little wider, Kakashi quickly lowered his gaze and lifted one of the corpses, then stared at the shredded flesh and noticed the clean circular mark on the neck muscle "I see... he blew their heads off with his chakra... he injected a large amount of chakra, shaped it and smashed them with the powerful rotation... it's really amazing."
"S-sensei..." Unable to look at the corpses, Sakura turned her gaze towards forest and stammered with worry "N-naruto... I-I think he's not feeling well."

"It's okay" Shaking his head, Kakashi dropped the body and stood up, then wiped the blood on his pants and turned his gaze to the direction where Naruto went "Every ninja has to deal with this at some point... in a way it's good that his first time was so bloody, since, if he manages to overcome this, he'll hardly be stunned in some bloody battle he might have in the future"
"Oh... w-well" Hesitantly, Sakura nodded.
Turning his gaze to the silent Sasuke, Kakashi continued "I saw that you and Naruto were prepared from the first moment."
"Naruto gave me the warning" Nodding, Sasuke turned his gaze to where the puddle of water still is and continued "He said it hasn't rained."
"And you understood instantly"
"Even if someone had passed in front of us and dropped water, the sun is at its peak and the heat is obvious...if you add to that the dry ground, it's obvious it should have dried up long ago"
"You both had an amazing analysis" Nodding with recognition, Kakashi turned his gaze to Sakura and continued "You on the other hand... you weren't bad at all"
With surprise, Sakura lowered her gaze in embarrassment and stammered "B-but I didn't do anything... I just panicked and watched it all happen... I didn't even notice the puddle of water."
"But even being flooded with fear and being taken by surprise, you pulled out your weapon and stood in front of the customer to cover him with your body" Patting Sakura's head gently, Kakashi continued "Not bad at all for your first time, well done"
"Th-thank you" With a slight blush as the darkness on her face finally disappeared, Sakura murmured.
"You knew all along about the ambush?" Staring at Kakashi, Tazuna suddenly asked.
"That's right."
"Then why did you risk the children's lives?" frowning slightly, Tazuna asked.
"Don't get confused, since in front of you there aren't children, but Konoha ninja" Looking at Tazuna sideways, but regaining his seriousness, Kakashi continued "I didn't bring some children for a field trip, but I brought a team of qualified ninja for a mission. Situations like this happen and will happen constantly in their lives and my job as their master is not to protect them like weak flowers, but rather my mission is to prepare them enough so that they won't die so easily and keep them safe from enemies they can't handle."
"..."
"But the experience of this situation wasn't the only reason" Turning his gaze to the corpses, Kakashi continued "If not that I was trying to find out who their true target is"
"True target?" Having heard everything, Sasuke asked.
"At first I thought I was their target" Nodding, Kakashi continued "But seeing how they made light of my elimination, clearly they didn't even know who I was, and that meant they might be coming for someone else."
Turning his gaze to Tazuna, Kakashi continued "Then I thought they might have come for one of my team, but seeing how they wanted to eliminate Naruto, I realized they just wanted to eliminate security before they reached their target"
"What do you mean?"
"You haven't told us anything about you being chased by ninjas" Narrowing his eyes at Tazuna, Kakashi continued "Your mission was for us to protect you from simple armed groups like thieves or bandits, that's why they listed it as a C-ranked mission."
"..."
"But instead, we are protecting you from ninja from the hidden village of the mist, who are considered expert ninja recognized as hired assassins, something that would normally be categorized as a B-ranked mission or higher" Noticing the old man's sweaty and conflicted face, Kakashi continued "I don't doubt you have your reasons for lying, but lying about the details of the mission, all it does is cause us trouble and not only risk your life, but everyone's"
"This mission is out of our reach... I think it's better to leave it up to here" With concern, Sakura continued "Besides Naruto-kun didn't look good at all."
"Mmmm..."
"Please, let's continue" Coming from the forest having his face still slightly pale, Naruto shook his head and continued "I don't know when we'll be able to have a valuable mission like this again"
"Valuable? If you know the pay won't go up, no?" Raising his eyebrows at seeing him recover so quickly, Kakashi asked with interest.
"I'm not talking about money, but experience" Turning his gaze towards the two corpses, Naruto was silent for a moment and continued "For a ninja, there is nothing more valuable than experience."
"Experience..." Staring at Naruto for a few seconds, Kakashi turned his gaze to Sakura and Sasuke and asked "What do you think?"
