Chapter 17: Boring routine/ Summoned by sensei

Kenichi was busy practicing in silence, holding a wooden sword, in a far corner of the kendo club practice area.

Various props were employed in the Kendo Club. He currently wields a wooden sword, and there is also a bamboo sword.

For kendo matches and other similar events, bamboo swords are usually used. He employs a wooden sword, however, that is more akin to a genuine samurai sword, as opposed to that type of bamboo weapon.

The oak-made wooden knife has a decent amount of strength; that makes sense, given the fee's high price.

In addition, the kendo uniform he was wearing was of good quality, with breathable and relatively expensive fabric. Despite the high cost, it was well worth the money.

With a serious gesture, he waved the wooden sword in his hands, demonstrating his proficiency in level 3 kendo.

Despite not being among the best kendo players in the club, Kenichi's skill level was still marginally higher than that of the other members. The most crucial factor is, of course, that he was improving his swordsmanship at a rate that no one else could match.

Instead of approaching others for communication, he practiced kendo by himself. Likewise, no one would look for him independently.

After all, it is customary in Japan for younger students to initiate the process of asking seniors in higher grades for advice; they also have to be courteous, and so on.

He finds social interaction of this nature to be very problematic overall. Kenichi did not have the time or energy for these pointless social exchanges.

His original intention of joining the Kendo Club was just to find a spacious area to practice Kendo.

Hasegawa Kenichi left the kendo club by himself after practice, but few people noticed him. After all, he doesn't communicate much with other people.

When he was practicing kendo, he did it in an inconspicuous place. Who would pay special attention to him?

He was not some kind of protagonist in an anime, and there won't be any beauties who take the initiative to contact him out of nowhere.

Yuigahama was standing nearby when he emerged from the kendo club. A glimmer of excitement flickered in her eyes as she saw him emerge, but she remained well away, unwilling to approach.

Seeing this, he said nothing. Although, in his opinion, Yuigahama's behavior was strange.

Just like yesterday, they went back to their respective homes without even talking to each other. Of course, when they separated, she expressed her gratitude again.

_________

Every day was the same as the ones before it, and time went by in this manner.

There were no gods arriving on Earth, no demons and angels transferring schools, and no invading army of demon kings. The world continued to be peaceful.

The life of Hasegawa Kenichi was still routine.

The only thing that was probably noteworthy was that the relationship between him and Yuigahama has gotten a lot better. Although they still didn't talk to each other much, the atmosphere between the two of them was much better than before.

Gradually, Yui started to show a little more smile on her face and started to truly integrate with her classmates.

She seems to be very good at reading the air. Most of the time, she smiles and caters to others, as if what others say is right. Even if someone tells a bad joke, she will laugh and compliment them.

To be honest, he feels that her life was very tiring.

If it were him, even with the help of his memories from the past life, he might not be able to achieve what she was doing.

However, there is no denying that integrating someone of this type into a group is actually easy. This is evident from the fact that she and the blonde girl, Miura Yumiko, gradually began conversing.

It doesn't matter what he thinks about this kind of life; he won't say anything since Yui chose it; it was her way of survival, after all.

Kenichi was quite willing to accept this situation. At least it will save some trouble. Maybe, after a while, Yui won't have to go to and come from school with him.

Holding a pen in his hand and writing randomly on paper, he was trying to adjust the outline of his novel.

During this period of time, he spent at least two hours writing every day. Coupled with the improvement in his skill level in typing, writing, and the Japanese language, his creation speed greatly increased.

During the day at school, he would think about some plots or revise the outline, and when he got home after, he would just resume writing.

In two weeks, Hasegawa Kenichi wrote almost 100,000 words.

A Japanese light novel typically contains around 100,000 words. That is to say, he was nearly finished with one volume of his current novel, and it is ready to be submitted.

_________

"Hasegawa-san."

A voice abruptly appeared next to him as he was considering how to make the content more visually appealing and the outline more succinct.

"Huh? It's Kato-san; why did you call me?" He looked up and saw a cute-looking girl standing in front of him.

"Huh? Hasegawa-san remembers me?" The expression on the girl's face did not change at all, but there was a little surprise in her voice.

"Kato-san is my classmate and sits next to me. Moreover, Kato-san is a relatively cute girl. It would be too much if I couldn't remember you." He smiled and said it to her.

When it came to this girl, he found her kind of interesting. In a nutshell, Kato Megumi is also a fairly attractive girl.

Although he was not able to remember the names of everyone in the class, he still remembered the name of Megumi Kato.

It was a mystery how she could have such a low sense of existence; it was not an exaggeration to say it was almost supernatural.

His mind came up with many different ideas. Since this is a different world, it may only seem normal on the surface. What if she was some sort of spy or assassin?

"Huh? Cute? Hasegawa-san doesn't have to be like this. After all, I'm just an ordinary, inconspicuous girl. You don't need to deliberately compliment me like this."

She replied with a straight face.

"I am not deliberately trying to flatter you; Kato-san is indeed very cute. So, what do you want from me?"

Kenichi asked with a smile. He really did think that this girl had a hint of cuteness about her.

"Ah, because Hasegawa-san actually remembered me, I felt a little strange that I almost forgot about why I called you. Hiratsuka-sensei asked me to call you to her office."

"Hiratsuka-sensei is looking for me?"

He was a little surprised and a little confused.

Why was Hiratsuka-sensei looking for him? He didn't do anything.

"It seems to be related to classmate Tomoya-san." She reminded.

"Is it related to him? I understand. Thank you, Kato-san."

Kenichi felt a little relieved; he thought he was in trouble or something.

Megumi looked at Kenichi's back as he went to the office, and a barely noticeable smile suddenly appeared on her face.
