Chapter 15: An offert

Nicolas, Samuel, and Tyler remained motionless for a moment, their ears picking up the hurried footsteps echoing down the corridor. Soon, a figure emerged from the door they had entered through, their face tense with palpable urgency.

"Something big is happening..." the person began, their voice tense and hurried. "William's gang has been completely defeated by someone. Moreover, William is heading to the garden, where the culprit might be."

The news struck them like lightning, the gravity of the situation weighing on them like a dark cloud. As the newcomer glanced at Pimpou's cold body, Nicolas felt a knot tighten in his chest. It was a mix of anger, sadness, and determination.

"They couldn't save him..." murmured the newcomer, their voice laden with sorrow.

Nicolas took the lead, his expression hardened by determination. He approached the boy and placed a hand on his shoulder, conveying a silent promise of revenge. "This won't stand," he said, his voice firm and resolute. "We'll avenge him, no matter the cost."

Hearing Nicolas' words, the boy raised his head, his eyes meeting Nicolas' in a gesture of mutual determination. "No matter the cost!" he echoed, his voice filled with resolve.

With this silent pact between them, the four turned and left the bathroom behind, their determined steps echoing down the corridor. Revenge burned in their hearts, driving them forward as they headed toward the imminent confrontation.

Charles stood in the small garden, surveying the fallen bodies around him. His clenched fists were stained with blood, evidence of the intense fights that had just taken place. The youths around him were almost all unconscious, their bodies marked by bruises from the punches and kicks delivered by Charles. Yet, he remained unscathed, as if a god of combat protected by an invulnerable aura.

I took a deep breath, feeling the adrenaline still coursing through my veins. I looked around, absorbing the tense silence that hung over the garden. "So this is the power of the feared Fogo Bravo Gang?" I murmured to myself, a subtle smile playing on my lips. I was satisfied with the battle's outcome, but a part of me yearned for an even greater challenge.

One of William's gang members, lying on the ground, spat out broken teeth and glared at me with burning rage. His words were filled with defiance, an attempt to rekindle the fire of resistance. "William won't let this go without making you suffer; after all, he is the strongest!"

My eyes narrowed in response, but my tone remained calm and confident. "I hope he doesn't disappoint me," I replied, my voice firm and assured. With a swift and precise movement, I delivered a knockout blow, rendering him silent.

After that, I closed my eyes for a moment, absorbing the euphoria that the combat had triggered in me. "Chip, this combat mode is really impressive. It's like I have 360-degree vision and can see everything in slow motion."

An electronic voice responded immediately in my mind. "My calculation capabilities are fast enough to predict attacks based on the body expressions of the targets around the host. However, this is only working at full capacity because these targets are not very fast and are not surrounded by that strange energy which exists in your ring."

The chip's words echoed in my mind, and I processed them carefully. "So, you're saying that this strange energy can disrupt your calculations and confuse your sensors?" I asked, seeking to confirm my understanding.

"Exactly," the chip replied. "I advise avoiding fights or confrontations with any beings possessing such characteristics, as this could pose a risk to your safety."

I reflected on the information provided by the chip, pondering the implications of facing such opponents. "That makes sense," I murmured to myself. "My chip doesn't have much concrete information about these energy particles, so it's better not to underestimate their potential impact."

However, at present, I am only fighting other students, and no one has posed a danger so far, so there is no need to worry. I bent down carefully, extending my right hand towards the yellow flora glowing under the soft sunlight. I held it delicately, examining it with curiosity. "Chip," I called, my voice low and contemplative. "Do you recognize this type of flower?"

A light scanned my eyes as the chip processed the image of the flower. I felt an instant connection with the artificial intelligence. "99.9% similarity to a sunflower," the chip responded in my mind. "A common plant with no positive effects on the host's body."

I released the flower, letting it fall gently back to the ground, absorbing the information provided by the chip. "I see," I murmured to myself, a hint of disappointment mingling with my initial curiosity. "It looks like this is the last flower in the garden. I really thought I would find something interesting in these flowers, but I guess a mage wouldn't leave magical ingredients near humans who don't yet know the basics of magic."

As my thoughts wandered through the disappointment of the non-magical flowers, a sudden sense of alertness swept through my body. The combat mode of my chip was still active, enhancing my awareness to everything within a 10-meter radius around me. And then, a voice broke the silence, interrupting my reverie.

"So you're the one responsible for all this chaos in my territory, right?"

I turned my head in the direction of the voice, meeting the defiant gaze of William. His red hair seemed to blaze, framing a face with strong features. His muscular and imposing body revealed his physical strength, as he stood with his arms crossed in front of his chest, displaying an arrogant expression.

"William?" I repeated, recognizing the leader of the Fogo Bravo Gang before me.

Beside him, an unknown young man watched the scene attentively, probably one of his subordinates.

Without hesitation, I ordered my chip: "Scan their stats!"

After a few seconds of processing, the chip responded: "Scan complete!"

"William: Strength: 1.7, Agility: 1.4, Vitality: 1.5, Status: Healthy."

"Unknown Name: Strength: 1.2, Agility: 1.2, Vitality: 1.3, Status: Healthy."

I looked at William and his subordinate, my thoughts diving into a cold and calculated analysis of the situation. "As children of war in this primitive world," I thought, observing their stats, "they can endure hardships and persevere in their daily training, along with breathing techniques. It's not strange to reach such attribute points."

While mentally calculating their stats, it was clear that William's strength was inferior to mine. My combat technique, enhanced by the chip, combined with my artificial experience, placed me on a completely different level compared to them.

As for the young man beside William, he seemed to be little more than a pawn in his game, merely boosting his numbers. The disparity between our abilities was evident; dealing with them would be as easy as intimidating a child.

"Is there a problem, commoner?" I asked calmly, maintaining my serene and confident expression.

William's reaction was a mixture of surprise and bewilderment. My behavior apparently exceeded his expectations, leaving him speechless for a moment.

I decided to seize the opportunity to further extend my advantage. "All your subordinates are weak," I continued, my voice firm and full of contempt. "Besides, should I expect anything different from commoners who don't possess noble blood?"

My words were laden with disdain, sparking a flicker of indignation in the eyes of William and his subordinate. I stared at them calmly, prepared for any reaction from their side.

Watching William clench his fists in an instinctive reaction, I could sense the tension in the air. But, to my surprise, he remained rational, assessing the situation with a pragmatic perspective. I represented a clear threat, with several bodies lying around me, a scene anyone in their right mind would think twice before confronting.

"I don't know you!" he declared, taking a few steps towards me. "You didn't need to beat my subordinates. You could have just asked, and I would have let you stay in this garden as long as you wanted. Besides, how about joining my gang? I'm sure I can get you whatever you want."

A cynical smile curved my lips as I listened to his offer. "Women? Princesses? Virgins and tight," he continued, trying to seduce me with promises of luxury. "Additionally, I also have something that might interest you, like slaves who will do your bidding..."

"You think you're strong? But... All you've done is exploit the weaker ones."

William's smile seemed like a sinister shadow as he responded to my provocation. "Those who cannot defend themselves are not worthy of becoming a mage," he said, his voice laden with contempt for the weaker ones.

I pondered his words, closing my eyes for a moment to reflect on the tempting offer. As a scientist, I valued knowledge above all, and even though the idea of joining William was morally questionable, the prospect of obtaining a slave for my experiment, with Maria, the ghost in the bathroom, was something I couldn't ignore.

I took a deep breath and opened my eyes, ready to accept the proposal. "Oh... I'm interested in those slaves you mention," I declared, my voice calm and calculated. "If I find something useful among these slaves, maybe you'll earn a favor from me."

William's smile widened, revealing his satisfaction with my response. "That's what I wanted to hear," he said, his voice sounding triumphant. "I knew a strong man like you would understand me..."

Before we could proceed with our negotiation, a voice filled with hatred pierced the tense air. "William, I will kill you!!!!!!"
