Chapter 9: Artemis's POV

[Artemis's pov...if you didn't read the title XD]

'I really don't get this. This feeling, it's so strange.'

Enkidu said something about six eyes and a vessel being linked by fate. I wonder if the reason I can feel this connection is because I'm a goddess and fate is something we are closer to! I should have told him that...but he seems smart so maybe he arrived at another possibility. I don't know if he knows that gods can feel fate while very few can touch upon it.

Sitting in my personal room, I thought to myself, Rethy sitting on a chair next to me while I'm sitting on the only bed. It was the perfect size, and it is super comfy. I'm glad I got this one! Anyways...

"Rethy, what do you think about him?" I'm genuinely curious; she seemed to eye him strangely throughout the whole time we went through the gate and while we registered him with the guild. Hehe, that was a fun experience! A lot of people found his appearance strange but also handsome; he just had an aura that fit with his style.

Shirtless and only wearing white loose-fitting pants. His longer light-green hair and those stunning blue eyes...it's not fair! How could a mortal look better than most gods!

"I-I think he is alright, but I can't shake the feeling that he is the scheming type! I also don't like that he was alone with you in the carriage, but it's your decision," Rethy explained while frowning. It was clear to me that she didn't know exactly how to feel about our first male member.

I looked Rethy in her eyes and chuckled.

"Hehe~, I don't blame you for thinking of him like that; he even told me that he had alternative reasons for joining our Familia, but he assured me that it wasn't anything that would bring our downfall or be harmful. He was very adamant about that! I think we can trust him in a life-and-death battle between Familias, but I doubt he'll work with any of you."

"So, you're saying he would help you, Artemis-sama?"

I puffed my chest out, "Of course, he said I'm his first friend! He obviously would help me or he wouldn't truly be a friend of mine!"

Rethy raised an eyebrow, looking condescending at me, which irked me a little. "What?" I asked with the annoyance not even being hidden.

"What if he was just saying that to make you feel good?" Her doubt was actually valid but...

"Trust me! If there is one thing I'm confident about, it's my reading of him. I know for a fact he will help me if I ask, but I also know he won't help unless, again, I ask or it's necessary for him to be involved. Actually, there is something I want to ask you about since we are talking about him."

"Yes, Artemis-sama?"

"While he was fighting those thugs, did you comprehend or at least understand any of his attacks? I watched, but the carriage was enchanted to resist outside interference so I really couldn't sense anything. Well, you already knew that as my trusted confidant but you get the point!"

"Artemis-sama, quite frankly, he is dangerous. I asked the other members while we were riding back, and they said they thought he was just moving really fast, but I beg to differ. I think it was a form of chantless wind magic!"

"Really? Could chantless magic be so deadly as to split a whole body in half? I know of chant-required spells that could do something like that, but nothing chantless!" I felt quite excited. If he could help me win a few war games then...I could be ready for when Hestia descends or I could curry favor with Hephaestus since she likes having reputable business! However, me and her aren't as close as Hestia is with her so maybe that won't happen.

"He really didn't chant! The only time he said anything was when that red flame of his turned to orange-gold color. I couldn't hear what was said though; the sound of those flames was super loud!"

"Could you defend yourself against either?" This was the real question. I needed to know the limits of his attacks so I didn't burden Enkidu with a task too overwhelming! That's what we agreed to in the last few minutes of our ride in the carriage.

"The fire, maybe. However, whatever that wind magic is, absolutely not! He seemingly could just will it to hit his enemy without any sign."

"Hehe, I think we got a pretty good excuse to change our main focus, Rethy!" I jumped off the bed and rushed towards the door.

"What do you mean?" Rethy was confused but it was fair; I didn't really explain it at all.

"Time to become a Familia that explores the dungeon! No more hunting outside or stuff like that. We are going to enter a new era as a family!"

"R-Really?!" Rethy's excitement was palpable and mine was even more so. Enkidu was the light of change we needed to truly step on a new path!
