Chapter 4: Overcautious Mother and Son

--- Chapter 4 ---

"Fuck!" Sun Yi was about to face a nerve-wracking situation right now.

He didn't expect Lu Xia to report his weird actions to his mother.

It seems the maid really thought he was insane. Sun Yi only knew about it until Lu Xia returned a few hours earlier.

Sun Yi wanted to scold this hopeless maid but knew she was doing it for his good. Simply put, Lu Xia was worried for him. He couldn't deny the only person he had a personal connection with.

Sun Yi is not an ungrateful person.

Maybe this was a good thing. After all, Sun Yi has never met his mother after transmigration. He tried everything to avoid too much personal connection, fearing it might implicate him.

But now, it's different. Sun Yi is confident with the Potential Value Scanner.

Lying on the king-sized bed, Sun Yi didn't feel restless anymore.

The next day, Sun Yi was awakened by Lu Xia and went for a morning bath before going to his mother's quarter.

"Xia, take a look at my study table! I got something for you." During his bath time, Sun Yi remembered the Wind Qi Breathing Method and the White Sky Spear Manual he had chosen for Lu Xia.

"These are..." Lu Xia followed Sun Yi's words.

She went to his study table and discovered spiritual-grade manuals. Her breath halted for a minute because these two manuals were what she needed to enter the next level.

Lu Xian cultivated an inferior Qi Breathing Method called the Morning Breeze Qi Breathing Method, and this Wind Breathing Method is a superior and upgraded version of it.

She doesn't need to start from zero and could reach the 7th level of the Spiritual Realm anytime!

Meanwhile, the White Sky Spear Manual is good stuff to Lu Xia's arsenal because she recently found she was talented in wielding a spear.

At the very least, Lu Xia found that wielding a spear is much better than a sword.

"Your Highness, where did you get these manuals?"

"I don't think the imperial family had the, no?"

Sun Yi carefreely dipped himself in the bathtub and replied, "When you were gone yesterday, I found a secret room in the library. There are thick layers of dust there, which means no one has entered that place for a long time."

"Don't worry. The manuals are safe."

Lu Xia's jaws dropped.

How could the Sixth Prince be this lucky?

"Xia, you're slandering me again, aren't you?" Sun Yi felt his senses tingling for some reason.

"I-I'm not!" Lu Xia was flustered. Yet she questioned how Sun Yi could read her mind.

"Hmph, whatever." Sun Yi knew he was correct.

"It's not like I'm insane or anything. Go pick the manuals and train them in your free time."

Lu Xia hurriedly picked up the manuals and smiled happily, "Thank You, Your Highness."

"These mean a lot to me."

"I know. Now prepare new clothes for me." Sun Yi returned casually.

"Yes, Your Highness!" Lu Xia hummed and prepared Sun Yi's clothes.

Inside the bathroom, Sun Yi is smiling like a fool. He felt a sense of fulfillment when hearing Lu Xia's replies earlier.

...

Sun Yi and Lu Xia slowly walked on the west wing of the Sirius Imperial Palace. Their appearances caused a haze in the area.

Lu Xia had a troubled expression because this was partly her fault. If she hadn't been nosy, this wouldn't happen.

"Your Highness..." Lu Xia nervously glanced at Sun Yi.

Sun Yin was unfazed, "Let them be. They have called me the Lazy Sixth Prince earlier, so being the Mad Sixth Prince doesn't sound bad."

"There would be less chance for my other brothers to deem me as their competitor."

They reached the west wing palace, entering the tearoom of Sun Yi's mother.

Sun Yi stood on the spot and spotted a beautiful woman in a green dress, drinking tea with elegance. Although her complexion is a bit pale, it adds charm to her beauty.

She also doesn't look like a woman her age. No one would have thought this beautiful woman was thirty-seven years old.

Cough!

Sun Yi cleared his throat, "Mother, I'm here."

Lu Wan'er glanced at Sun Yi and smiled, "Yi'er, you're finally here."

"Come, come, come sit near me."

Sun Yi nodded and took a seat opposite Lu Wan'er. She observed him from top to bottom and sighed in relief.

"At first, I was shocked that Lu Xia told me you have gone insane."

"But it looks like you're fine." She said calmly.

"I'm sorry, mistress. It is Xia's fault." Lu Xia kneeled before Lu Wan'er.

Lu Wan'er shook her head gently, "No, this is fine."

"With this, Yi'er could live a more peaceful life."

"The other princes are competing against each other to become the next emperor, but I'm more than happy to see my son live a good life and marry a good girl."

"Get up, Xia."

"Yes..." Lu Xia was helpless. She felt guilty.

Lu Wan'er placed her teacup down and commented to Sun Yi, "Talking about marriage, Zhang Wu hasn't visited you in the last two months."

"Well, I was thinking of becoming Qi Master." Sun Yi scratched his cheek awkwardly. I'm not fond of entertaining guests as it could distract me."

Lu Wan'er nodded in understanding, "Mother understands, but..."

"If you want to cultivate peace, you might want to visit your little fiancee."

"I heard she got taken as a disciple by Heaven-grade Faction's elder on the border."

"Rather than staying in the dangerous Imperial Palace, living with Zhang Wu is a better choice."

"This..." Sun Yi was speechless.

Lu Wan'er chuckled at his speechless look and commented, "You can also go to my Lu Clan. There, your grandfather would prepare everything until you reached the 10th level of the Spiritual Realm."

"Lu Clan is not as rich as the Sirius Imperial Family, but we can still support you."

"What is your goal exactly, mother?" Sun Yi was confused by this sudden arrangement.

Lu Wan'er sighed, "Lu Xia told me that your illegitimate half-brother, Sun Long, awakened the legendary Primal Dragon Qi. His potential to become the Primal God is unquestionable..."

"To make it worse, Sun Long disappeared from the palace a week ago, but I'm sure he'd return sooner or later to avenge his mother's unfair death and the treatment they have experienced over the years."

"I don't want you to get implicated, Yi'er."

"After Sun Long massacred everyone, who knew if he wanted to lay his hand on us. Someone who got blinded by rage and hatred doesn't care about the opinion of the weak."

"Thankfully, I always mind my own business and never treat anyone horribly." She added with a sigh.

"Aih, your sudden motivation to train to become Qi Master is a good start, so you can join a sect or mercenary group if you don't like my previous arrangements."

"Mother has friends on 1st rate sects. Northern Gate, Burning Sky Sect, and Soaring Sword School. You can choose one for your future path."

"And your auntie is also a mercenary queen on the northeast."

Sun Yi didn't expect his mother to be this cautious and had many connections.

No wonder her position in the Imperial Palace is so solid.

In fact, Lu Wan'er actually prevented most of the assassination attempts inflicted on Sun Yi when he was a child.

The most important thing is her mindset!

She is just like him.

"W-What about you?" Sun Yi couldn't help but question her in return.

A son's instinct to protect his mother manifested in his heart, which Sun Yi had never felt for so long.

It also could be the feeling of the original Sun Yi, who passed away due to excessive anxiety.

Lu Wan'er giggled, "Mother would be fine. I'm sick, but I'm not that sick that I can't run away from here."

"Now, decide."

"What do you want to do from now on?"

"I..." Sun Yi frowned, thinking deeply about this matter.

"What is the name of the Heaven-grade Faction that my fiancee joined?"

"How many Heaven Realm Experts did they have?"

"What about their backgrounds? Are they clean?"

Lu Wan'er narrowed her eyes and answered, "As expected of my one and only son, you're just like me."

"Well, the name of the faction is Heavenly Path Sect."

"They have stood for seven thousand years and have quite a clean background of strong cultivators. Though, nothing is clean enough in this world."

"True, true." Sun Yi agreed with her.

"Then, I will choose Zhang Wu. Visiting my fiancee at a time like this won't attract much attention."

"Good choice!" Lu Wan'er smirked at her son.

Meanwhile, Lu Xia's eyelids twitched at their conversations.

What an overcautious mother and son.
