Chapter 6: Chapter 6: One Year Later

In the blink of an eye, time had already come to July 4th, 1991. It had been an entire year since Eisen had first learned magic.

This year's time had been extremely fruitful for Eisen. After living in the wizarding world for a year, no one would ever think he was an impostor wizard anymore.

As for learning spells, it had been relatively smooth for Eisen. However, for him, the wizarding world's spells were indeed quite numerous. Not to mention the various attack and defense spells, even the commonly used spells were plentiful.

Originally, according to Eisen's plan, he was prepared to specialize in a few fixed spells. For instance, the Petrificus Totalus for attacking, the Protego for defense, and the Apparition spell for escaping and movement. As the saying goes, one sharp weapon can conquer all. Eisen believed that if he continued to study these three spells, forming a complete combat system would be no problem.

However, as Eisen's magic grew with time, he found that his overall physical abilities were also slowly increasing. Not only were his physical strength, endurance, and other regular abilities enhancing, but even his neural reaction capabilities were continuously growing.

It should be known that a wizard's combat power, apart from being related to the amount of magic, also heavily depended on their on-the-spot reaction ability. In other words, when Eisen dueled with other wizards, as soon as their wands pointed at him, he could react and immediately counterattack. With this advantage, Eisen's superiority would be too great.

So, after careful consideration, Eisen replaced the Petrificus Totalus attack spell with the Expelliarmus spell. Because when Eisen faced an enemy, if his reaction was fast enough, the Expelliarmus spell was more targeted, able to directly disarm the opponent's wand, making them lose their ability to fight.

As for the Petrificus Totalus, although it could also seize the initiative, what if the opponent had protective magical items? Therefore, it was more direct to target the wand.

For defense, Eisen still focused on the Protego charm, practicing it extensively. Because if this spell was studied in-depth, it would become very powerful.

If his magic continued to grow, the Protego charm he cast would become stronger and stronger, and in the future, it might be possible to withstand the Killing Curse. Nevertheless, to be safe, Eisen still devoted some effort to Transfiguration.

Because in both the original and the movies, the Killing Curse could actually be blocked by physical barriers. Just like when Voldemort tried to use the Killing Curse on Harry Potter, but a moving statue blocked it, the statue was shattered, but Harry Potter was unharmed.

Of course, Dumbledore being powerful enough was one thing, but at the very least, this method of blocking curses was effective. And the means Dumbledore used was clearly advanced Transfiguration. From this, it could be seen that the ability of Transfiguration was actually extremely powerful.

So, to ensure his safety, besides delving into the Protego charm, Eisen also studied Transfiguration in-depth. Of course, apart from this reason, Eisen learned Transfiguration mainly because it was powerful enough.

For example, after mastering advanced Transfiguration, one could freely transform chairs, rocks, and other objects into living beings for attack or defense. Eisen even suspected that the upper limit of Transfiguration could reach the level of freely transforming elements like fire and lightning. If that was true, then Transfiguration could undoubtedly be considered a wizard's core ability.

As for the Apparition spell, Eisen really wanted to learn it. Because that was the ability to escape and save one's life. Unfortunately, at present, Eisen had no place to learn it. From what he understood, to learn Apparition, one had to go to Hogwarts.

Therefore, during this year, Eisen's main focus was on learning and practicing the Expelliarmus, Protego, and Transfiguration spells. Nevertheless, he did not give up learning and practicing other spells.

For example, the Accio, Reparo, Lumos, Alohomora, Petrificus Totalus, Disillusionment Charm, Scouring Charm, and other common spells, Eisen would still allocate some time to practice.

After getting up and washing up in the morning, as usual, Eisen practiced some spells, then came out of his room and went downstairs to the bar.

Compared to the comfortable and tidy guest rooms, the bar downstairs remained dim and shabby.

"Eisen, still studying the Muggle society?" Tom greeted him after seeing Eisen come down.

"Yes, I find this subject very interesting. Can I have a steak, and a cup of tea, please?" Hearing this voice, Eisen wasn't surprised and simply replied before ordering some food.

In the past year, Eisen had spent most of his time at the Leaky Cauldron, so he had already become well-acquainted with the pub's owner, Tom. Similarly, some of the regular patrons also knew about Eisen's interest in studying Muggle society.

In fact, being a Muggle Studies expert was the "persona" Eisen had long decided to create for himself. Because he really intended to use this method to apply to become a professor of Muggle Studies at Hogwarts. However, Eisen didn't dare to be certain he would definitely be accepted, so he had also learned quite a bit of Astronomy knowledge in the meantime.

After all, whether it was a Muggle Studies professor or an Astronomy professor, their presence at Hogwarts was extremely low, and these two subjects were basically just for students to earn easy credits. Therefore, Eisen felt that if his application for Muggle Studies didn't work out, he could apply for an Astronomy professor position.

In reality, for Hogwarts students, these two courses were indeed just for earning credits, but for Eisen, they were extremely suitable positions to hide his true identity. With a thought, Eisen's golden finger appeared before his eyes. Compared to a year ago, Eisen's character panel was still simple at the moment.

Character: Eisen Turner

Supernatural Talent: Magic (Activated)

Magic Value: 3650 (Increases by 10 points per day)

Supernatural Trait: Excellent Spell-Casting Trait (Affinity 115%) (Integrated)

Miracle Trait: 1 share (Automatically gains 1 share per year)

After a year, Eisen had become more like a wizard. Because he had integrated the Spell-Casting trait, the common spells he had learned were beginning to approach the level of silent and wandless casting. For example, he had already mastered the advanced skills of silent and wandless casting for the Protego charm.

The outward manifestation was that he could now shape the armor formed by the Protego charm, transforming it into a "bell jar" enveloping his entire body. Similarly, due to the growth of his magic, Eisen's overall physical abilities had probably already surpassed those of ordinary people by about twice, and his neural reaction capabilities were the same.

Therefore, after Eisen had perfected the Expelliarmus spell, he could already attack at a faster pace. As for Transfiguration, he could freely transform between large and small objects, as well as between objects and living beings. Going further, Eisen planned to study how to incorporate Transfiguration into combat.

In general, Eisen believed his abilities in these three spells were not inferior to those of Aurors from the Ministry of Magic. As for other common spells, for Eisen, he had only reached the level of proficient use. He could cast them wandlessly, but not silently.

Looking back on this year's gains, Eisen was quite satisfied. However, what surprised Eisen was the slow increase in physical abilities that came with the enhancement of his magic.

If this continued to increase, Eisen wondered if he might develop an ability similar to "bullet time." If that were the case, it would be too powerful. But obviously, this could only be verified in the future.

For now, Eisen's apparent strength seemed quite formidable. He had completely mastered the skills of silent and wandless casting for his core abilities, and he could also use other spells proficiently.

But clearly, this was only strength on paper. Because during this year, he had basically been self-studying and practicing, with no real combat opportunities. Therefore, to become a true master, he still needed to battle against other wizards.

Looking at it this way, only by getting slightly involved in the whirlpool of events at Hogwarts could he gain enough combat experience. Of course, Eisen's main purpose for wanting to enter Hogwarts was still to learn high difficulty spells like Apparition and the Disillusionment Charm.

So, before the new batch of young wizards enrolled at Hogwarts in 1991, Eisen planned to temporarily pause his frenzied learning state and prepare to write a letter to Hogwarts applying for the position of Muggle Studies professor. Of course, to be on the safe side, he also applied for the Astronomy professor position. After all, this kind of subject held no difficulty for him.
