Ace rolled his eyes and nodded, "Not bad, Roark. Though…" he shook his head, "You can't ignore Golem and Coalossal for your new Pokemon!" Roark looked helpless and sighed, "But I need to train the new guys…" Ace waved his finger, "You can train them both at once! What did I teach you?"
Roark replied slowly with a troubled look, "If your Pokemon don't listen, beat them up?" Ace coughed violently before grinding his teeth, "How about I beat you up instead!?" Roark waved his hands quickly and Ace let out a breath, "You have to train them all! A good trainer has to designate different training that suits every Pokemon best. Look at Noivern, he flies around all day. Sirfetch'd practices sword moves against a cliff… etc!"
Roark nodded helplessly as Ace nodded at him, "Well, anyway, going to the Lily of the Valley Conference isn't a big deal… What about after?" Roark paused and blinked, "After…?"
Ace looked at him and nodded, "That's right, after. What do you have planned?" Roark shook his head, "I don't know!" Ace held his chin, looking at Roark, "I can teach you how to be a Gym Leader." Roark looked at him, shocked, "You're already going to quit?!"
Ace punched him into the dirt, shouting, "AM I SO UNRELIABLE?!" Faye squealed on the side, "My idol! So brutal! I hope he punches me too!" Ace looked over and rolled his eyes, looking down at Roark, "I promised your dad to hold the fort at the Gym while you go on your journey! I assume you went to Canalave?"
Roark got up and thanked his lucky stars that he wore a helmet, "Yeah, I saw dad…" Ace nodded and smiled, "Then, it's decided! The Lily of the Valley conference is in 2 Months! During this time, I'll train you as a Gym Apprentice AND get you ready for the conference."
Roark looked around and said, "Alright, where's the others?" Ace had a large question mark floating over his head, "What do you mean 'others'???" Roark froze, "You don't mean…" Ace nodded and smiled, "You're the only Gym Apprentice! Congratulations!"
Roark collapsed to his knees in shock as Faye's eyes lit up, "Ace-sama! Can I be an Apprentice! Ou Ou! Me me! Pleeeeease!?" Ace was shocked, you're so annoying! Before saying, "Okay!" Faye jumped up 3 meters in the air, cheering, "Yippee!"
Ace shook his head and said, "From now on, you two'll shadow me. Where I go, you go! Is that clear?!" Roark groaned pitifully, "Yes…" while Faye shouted in excitement, "YES!" Ace nodded and stroked a non-existent beard on his face, "Mhm… Very good."
A few days later
Faye was laying flat on the ground, crying, "Mom, I wanna go home…" Ace picked her up by the back of her neck like a cat, "Come on, Faye! If you complete this training, I will give you a hug."
