Chapter 2: Baby steps
In front of one of the rooms, the sound of a woman screaming could be heard. It was in a hospital, and a man with a bird's head was running down the hallway and burst into the room from where the screaming was coming. The man looked quite nervous, and he had a reason to be. He had received a message from work that his wife was in labor. This was very good news. The only thing on his mind now was to make it in time. He rushed through the doors.
"Yumeko! I'm here, are you alright?"
The woman looked at her husband, her teeth clenched, and she looked like she could kill.
"NO, I'M NOT, SO SHUT UP OR I'LL THROW YOU OUT THE WINDOW!"
Yumeko screamed at her husband. The husband was very scared; he fell silent and didn't utter another word. He didn't dare to speak.
"AAACH"
For a second, there was silence. But after a second,
"UWAAa"
The cry of something small was heard; it was a baby. It started crying, and as a proper mother, she began to soothe it.
"Shhh, shhh, everything will be alright. Yami, look, we have a beautiful baby girl."
Yami looked at his newborn daughter; he had never seen anything more beautiful. From the very first second he saw her, she had settled in his heart.
And the baby fell asleep. Yumeko looked at her husband.
"What will her name be?"
Yumeko looked at Yami, her husband, who took his new daughter into his arms. As he looked at her, he was already decided on what her name would be.
"Kaori. Fumikage Kaori."
Yumeko smiled and spread her arms, wanting her baby back. She received her daughter back into her arms. Yami hugged Yumeko.
"Our beautiful Kaori."

'Darn infant brain. Why do I have to start as a baby? Couldn't they have just sent me when I was a bit older?'
Kaori started looking around. However, everything was blurry.
'Mmmm, I'm a little hungry. Well, it's time to use my superpower.'
"UWAAAA"
So Kaori started crying.
Suddenly, she heard someone coming to her; the only thing Kaori saw was a blur, her vision was quite poor.
"What's wrong, our Kaori? Hungry, aren't you?"
Someone picked Kaori up.
'This is probably my new mom.'
Kaori suddenly felt something near her mouth.
'Well, it's time to eat.'
While Kaori was having her meal, Yumeko looked at her with a maternal smile.
"My little sunshine, Kaori. You'll need to grow up properly."
Yumeko started stroking her head and looking into the golden eyes of her small and cute daughter.
'So my name is Kaori? Quite a good name, but it would be good to know my last name too.'
As Kaori was pondering her last name, she started feeling quite tired.
'No, I don't want to sleep yet. I just woke up. I refuse to fall aslee...'
And Kaori fell asleep. Yumeko put her back in the crib and started tidying up the house again.

'My name is Fumikage Kaori. I am one year old, and I am attempting a crucial moment.'
Kaori, who was on all fours, was slowly trying to stand up on two feet. She began to stand up slowly and stood.
Kaori started to rejoice. But this joy was premature because she began to fall to the ground.
"Ha, I got it on video."
Kaori looked over and saw her mother, Yumeko, with a camera in hand.
Kaori looked at her with a deadpen exprecion.
'Seriously. I wouldn't really mind if I knew about it.'
Kaori slowly began to crawl towards her mother.
"Come on, Kaori, your father will be back from work soon. Let's greet him nicely."
After a while, the sound of the door opening could be heard. Yumeko was holding Kaori in her arms and greeted him.
"Hi, honey, I hope you had a good day. I have dinner and a bath ready for you."
Yami took Kaori into his arms and just nodded his head.
"Hn."
Kaori had something else on her mind.
'Why does my dad act like an edgelord?'
Yami looked at Kaori, and a smile appeared on his bird head. He looked at Yumeko.
"Yumeko, did anything important happen today?"
Yumeko just smiled and pulled out the camera.
"Kaori stood up. Only for a moment, but she stood."
Yami took the camera in his hand and watched the video.
"Yumeko, I'd like you to send me that video."
As they talked, Kaori pondered what her dad's job was.
"Well, it's time for dinner."
Yami said, and the family went to the table to have dinner.

'My name is Fumikage Kaori, and right now, I can walk. Both of my parents are standing in front of me, waiting for something.'
"Uum"
"Mama"
Kaori just said her first word, and Yumeko started hugging her daughter in a bear hug.
Yami looked at his daughter with pride.
Kaori looked at her mother and had to admit she was starting to resemble her.
Her mother had long black hair and golden eyes. Sometimes, Kaori saw her mother's hair move like shadows. Her hair sometimes helped with household chores, like washing dishes and many other things.
As for her father, she only knew that he had a bird's head.
Her father also worked as an actor in the theater. That's why he was always so dramatic.
Kaori still didn't know when the anime story would begin. She knew she was probably in the same generation but didn't know how many years older she would be.

'My name is Fumikage Kaori, and I am three years old. I am currently going to the park with my mother. Mom wanted me to play with other children and make friends.'
Kaori and Yumeko just arrived at the park. Her mother sat on a bench next to another mother and waved to Kaori to go play with the other children.
Kaori approached the other children.
"What are you doing?"
Kaori asked the children, and one of them smiled at her.
"We're playing tag, do you want to join us?"
Kaori just nodded and started playing with the other children.
For Kaori, it wasn't that much fun, but at least it passed the time.
Kaori lost track of time and looked at one girl who was playing tag with her.
"What's your name? My name is Fumikage Kaori."
The girl looked at her and cheerfully replied.
"I'm Yu Takeyama, do you want to be friends?"
(For those who don't know, this is Mt. Lady)
Kaori didn't recognize the name.
"Okay."
Before they could continue playing, someone called out to them.
"Kaori, we have to go home."
It was Kaori's mother. She looked at the two girls. Takeyama's mother also came over. Both mothers looked at each other, smiled, and exchanged contact information.
Kaori took her mother's hand, and they started walking home together.
