Chapter 15: Chapter 14 – That was disrespectful
(Nico Robin POV)
"I didn't get to kill the person who tried to assassinate us so I want to kill the one who hired her." Emma was looking at me shocked and Monet was scared for a second before quickly recovering and nodding her head at my statement.
"OK, I'll guide you to her house before we go get my little sister." Getting over her shock Emma tried to convince me otherwise.
"Robin there is no need to rush into this, you can take you-" Cutting her off by raising my hand in front of her and shaking my head I looked her in the eyes and declared.
"I said I would kill anyone who tried to harm us, this is a chance to prove my words." Still trying to convince me otherwise she countered.
"There is no need to prove that. You were ready to kill Monet just a minute ago before we walked into the room." Cutting into the conversation Monet asked in a shaky voice that if I wasn't used to reading someone's true emotions I would've missed.
"If you knew I was here already then why did you both walk-in and wait for me to attack before doing anything." This caused both me and Emma to laugh at her for a second making her agitated before Emma explained.
"Because you thought you could hide from us by lying under a bed. You have no idea what Haki is or you would try something so stupid. We could sense you before we walked on the ship and Mom probably knew the entire time and let us go against you since she knew how weak you are compared to us." Confusion and some annoyance were clear on Monet's face as she asked another question.
"What's Haki?." Emma turned her head to look at me to which I obliged by walking up to Monet and holding her arm causing her confusion to grow.
"Try to get out of my grip using your ability." After I said this Monet changed her arm into the snow and back to normal easily breaking free from my hold. Grabbing her arm again I used Armament Haki and asked.
"Try to get out again." After struggling for a few moments Monet tried to change her other arm into the snow and realized she still could before asking in an incredulous voice.
"Is that what Haki is? It lets you grab onto people like me?" Shaking my head I responded.
"No it also makes your body stronger and more durable, there is also Observation Haki, the thing we used to since you were on the ship. Normally these are the only two but there is a third kind that some people can use." After explaining all that I looked at Emma who nodded her head and bounced like a rabbit over to us.
"The third type is Conqueror's Haki, you have to have strong willpower and be born with this type so it's pretty rare." Saying this Emma let out a devious smile while focusing on Monet for a second, before Monet realized what was happening she dropped to her hands and knees panting to catch her breath before looking up at Emma.
"I'm surprised you're still awake, sorry about that. I've just started to learn to consciously use it and don't have good control of it yet, since Dad isn't here right now to continue teaching me." Slowly recovering on the ground while covering her heart with one of her hands, Monet climbed to her feet on shaky legs and asked one more question.
"What did you do?"
"So many questions, well anyway all I did was attack your will through intimidation pretty much if you weren't so adamant about something you would have probably passed out." Taking this opportunity of Monet being lost in thought I brought the conversation back to the earlier topic.
"Emma, I know I don't have to do it, but it's something I want to do, even if I don't have to prove it to you and your Mom I need to prove it to myself." Being confused by the sudden change of topic for a second Emma quickly understood what I meant before shaking her head and letting out a deep sigh.
"Ok, I'm not going to try and stop you. I just didn't want you to rush into it but it seems you're ready to do it." Looking up at me she asked.
"Do you want me to go with you?" shaking my head at her I answered.
"No, although I appreciate you wanting to be there for me I want to do this alone. Follow Monet back to her place and help her bring their stuff to the ship and get settled in. I'll join you once I'm done."
"Ok, but make sure to hurry back as soon as it's done, I'll come and find you if you take too long." Laughing at the worry Emma was still clearly displaying I patted her head making her narrow her eyes like a cat.
"Just like how my little sister acts" Monet murmured, making Emma snap out of it and seemingly contemplate her life choices if her mumblings are anything to go by. Not wanting to take all day doing what we set out to do I told the both of them.
"Monet, guide me to your employer's house, Emma follows Monet home and helps her bring her things back here. I'll join you later, let's go." Walking out of the room with both of them in tow, first thing after leaving the room we saw Geina leaning against the opposite wall.
"Took you a while, I was about to go in there and hurry your discussion up." Smiling while looking at us her eyes stopped on Monet and she asked.
"Is your little sister going to be ok with this?" Nodding her head as an affirmative Monet replied.
"Yeah, she recently read about the city of gold so she might take this as a chance to try and find it even if it's just a fairy tale." Laughing at the side Emma interjected.
"KYAKYA, hopefully, your sister has another dream." Getting angry Monet was about to rebuke Emma before she continued talking.
"I already know where Shandora is and we are going to be going there eventually because Robin and I both have something we need there." This caused both Monet and I to do a double-take at Emma.
"You mean one of those is there." Nodding her head to my question Emma said.
"Yeah but don't worry about it, for now, we can't go there until after entering paradise though it will be one of the first stops." With an incredulous look, Monet asked.
"So you don't only know for a fact it exists but also where it is even though no one else does. How?."
"KYAKYAKYA, you're starting to understand just how great I am but it's still too soon to tell you." Sighing, Monet shook her head and fell silent.
"Hurry back to the ship with your sister then so the both of you can get settled in, though we'll be changing ships in not too long." After Geina said this, both Emma and I followed Monet until we reached a good-sized house in town. Turning to look at me Monet explained.
"She'll be in the living room once you enter, it's straight down the entrance hallway you can't miss it." Walking up to the door, Monet knocked in a pattern before we heard a voice from the inside.
"Come in Dearie, I hope you brought the newspaper." Motioning me to enter Monet then walked away from the door and I opened it entering inside.
(Emma POV)
Staring at the now-closed door I wanted to open it and follow inside but robin chose to go through this alone so I'll trust her in her decision. Turning my head to look at Monet I asked.
"How far is your house from here?"
"Just a few minutes walk, although my place isn't nearly as nice as this." Shrugging my shoulder at her I replied.
"It's not like that matters anymore you have a new home now." Monet smiled wryly at that statement before leading me to a house the size of Robin and my room on the ship. Opening the door Monet gestured me inside where the first thing I saw was a surprised girl around my age.
"Big sis, you don't have any friends so who this?" Her blunt question was too much for me.
"KYAKYAKYAKYA, surprise attack and critical hit Monet's down for the count." Looking annoyed, Monet looked as if she was going to argue with what her sister had said before slowly lowering her hand and then sighing in defeat.
"Laugh all you want but I've never had the chance to make friends before because I was always working for us to survive." Realizing I was a little rude given I already knew that I apologized.
"I'm sorry Monet, that was disrespectful of me." Then turning my head back to Sugar I explained to her.
"Hi sugar, I'm Emma and your big sister's first friend. We'll be living together from now on so I hope to get along." Scoffing Monet cut it.
"Who said we were friends?" Ignoring her cold attitude I cheerfully replied.
"I did, just now." Looking back and forth between the two of us Sugar approached Monet and got behind her nervously while staring at me.
"What does she mean we'll be living together? There's only one bed in the house." Rubbing Sugar's head a wide smile appeared on Monet's face as she explained.
"We'll be moving, from now on we are going to be following Emma and her family on their ship, and in the future, we will adventure with Emma." Looking confused, Sugar asked.
"What about old lady Shetani, don't you have to take care of her for us to live peacefully? Will we have to go back to how it was?" Pulling Sugar into a hug Monet spoke in a soft voice.
"Don't worry, we'll always be able to eat our fill and be together as much as we want. Also, do you remember the city of gold?" Nodding her head at that question Sugar answered.
"Yeah if we found that then we wouldn't have to worry about berries anymore and we could live together happily." Separating from the hug Monet proceeded to pat the pouting sugar.
"Emma here knows where to find that city, apparently its name is Shandora and it's a real place." Looking at me in amazement Sugar asked.
"How do you know where it's at? Nolan wasn't able to find it again and he said he has been there once."
"KYAKYAKYA, that's because he didn't know where to look the second time after the city moved places." In shock, Sugar asked.
"How did an entire city move like that?" Shaking my head at her question I replied.
"I don't want to take all the mystery away from that place for you, if you come with me through one day you'll be able to see the place and take as much gold from it as you want." Jumping in joy next to her sister Sugar exclaimed.
"Yay! Yay! We will be able to stay together, maybe we'll be able to fix what's wrong with your eyes." After Sugar said this I remembered that Monet wore glasses in the Dressrosa flashback so I asked.
"Is there something wrong with your vision, Monet?" Sighing, Monet replied.
"Yeah, I can't see things close to me clearly, It made my job a lot harder." Sighing myself now I facepalmed and then said.
"I can't believe I forgot about that, don't worry our next crew member will be a doctor and I'm sure with his ability your eyes can be fixed… if they're still your eyes that is." Mumbling that last part quiet enough where she couldn't hear me Monet perked up at the first half she could hear.
"You mean to where I won't even need glasses to see? Because even just those would make Life so much easier, but I've never had enough savings to buy some that could help me." Shaking my head at her blatant enthusiasm I tried to calm her down.
"I don't know for sure but I'm pretty sure he can fix your eyes entirely. Maybe not now because he's around my age and just now got his devil fruit power but he should be able to in the future." Nodding fastly before realizing how she's acting she then stopped to clear her throat.
"Thank you for helping me with this problem" Waving my hands at her I denied the thanks and let her pretend to not be excited.
"It's not me you should be thanking but our future crew member, come let's gather all of the both of your things and head back to the ship." After they gathered everything that they wanted to bring with them, they placed everything in the same area in the living room in a small pile. I was surprised at the lack of items.
"Are you sure this is everything?" Looking down at the pile it consists of a handful of picture books, a couple of pairs of clothes for each of them, and a basket of grapes. Saying with a hint of embarrassment in her tone Monet answered.
"Our current furniture is stuff I found out in the streets by chance and our sheets are now littered with bugs that like to bite us when we sleep at night so I think it would be best if we were to leave them here." Nodding at that I reassured them while also thinking about taking them to buy all new things tomorrow after they settle in.
"Don't worry about that, the room you will both be taking already has one bed and we can just get ano-.'' Jumping out from behind Monet cutting my words short Sugar yelled.
"NO!" Seeing the confusion on both mine and her sister's face Sugar then continued while backtracking back behind Monet.
"I and sis can share a bed, we always have so it will be no problem." Not wanting to push her for something she doesn't want I tried to calm her as well.
"Ok, just let me know if you ever want another bed and I'll make sure we get one for you." Letting out a sigh of relief at my words, Sugar then hugged Monet's leg.
"KYAKYAKYA, so cute. Come let's go back to the ship" Just as Monet and Sugar were about to grab their things I stopped them.
"Don't worry about that, I got it." Creating an area around myself I targeted all of their things and lowered the gravity around them floating everything into the air. This caused Sugar to exclaim in surprise and Monet to realize something while murmuring about a floating bed.
