Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Chaz, seeing that reaction, could do nothing but sink into heartbreak. Not being answered and left alone without a goodbye meant his chance had always been 0%. He was gaslighting himself into thinking that Aven might be like his few friends. He had always known that was an absurd hope to be clinging to, but he still did not want to let go of what he thought was the light in his life.
While the sadness wrapped around Chaz, there was the Trio behind a big tree secretly peeking at the whole confession situation. Truth to be told, all three of them were equally shock seeing Aven leave the scene. Aven did not even reject Chaz and just left their friend alone, enveloped in sadness.
As they saw the situation unfold and Aven already out of sight, they carefully went near Chaz. Hesitantly, of course, as it can be considered a shameful situation for Chaz, who had always been seen as someone who always got what he wanted. They might actually ignore that situation and act as if they didn't know, but seeing Chaz down firsthand made them naturally want to carefully reach Chaz.
"Chaz... we are sorry," said Frank.
Chaz looked in the direction of the voice. He saw the Trio. He felt many different emotions, but the greatest out of all was the feeling of thankfulness. He felt relieved to see the Trio there. He did not show it on his face, but deep down in his heart, truly he felt better.
"Let's drink," said Larry.
Chaz did not say anything, but Neil and Larry already pulled his hand to walk away. They, for the first time, reassured Chaz. They brought him to one spot that sells alcohol. They sat him down and ran toward the seller to buy the drink. Frank sat by Chaz's side can only smile, as he was not the one who knew how to coax.
Then, Neil and Larry came back and brought a bunch of bottles to their table. Chaz is shocked, as there ain't no way they will manage to drink that all out.
However, that assumption is soon destroyed when Chaz himself finishes several bottles by himself. He drinks away his sorrow, but it's just too deep to be forgotten with only a glass. The Trio had never seen Chaz being so devastated. They never thought that even Chaz could get heartbroken. They naturally think Chaz can easily get through this, but they are wrong. At the end of the day, how stoic Chaz is, he is indeed still human with feelings. Not showing his feelings never means he doesn't feel it.
Chaz does not utter a word but keeps drinking. A glass was filled again and again once it was empty. The Trio does nothing until Chaz himself seems to no longer have energy to continue. They see that Chaz has almost passed out. Only then do they carefully hold Chaz up and bring him back to the room. Never again will they leave Chaz once things like this happen.

Aven left the scene. The first person he goes looking for is Archie. he goes to Archie's room, which is beside his. He knocks repeatedly until Archie opens the door.
Archie did feel irritated, but the moment he opened the door and saw Aven's appearance, his face turned worried instead.
"What happened to Elwell?" That person is the one who usually makes Aven emotional. Naturally, he asked about Elwell's well-being.
Contrary to what Archie thought, Aven started smiling and excitedly said: "He's awake!"
Archie was surprised by that answer. He also became excited for Aven. He hurriedly helped Aven with everything he could, including providing a vehicle to go back directly. That's the whole reason Aven came to find him. To ask for help finding a vehicle for him to go back.
"Don't worry. Just tidy up your things. I will ask someone to prepare the car and bring you directly to the hospital," said Archie.
Aven was so thankful that he repeatedly thanked Archie. He then went ahead and tidied up. He was in such haste that he just grabbed everything and put it in his bag.
The car was prepared. He said one last goodbye to Archie, who waited for him. Archie just waved his hand as the car left his sight. He feel relief and happy that his friend had finally woken up.
Along the way, Aven repeatedly said his gratitude toward God. His prays at last been accepted. He could not sit still and kept his hands tightly together, hoping the journey would be shorter.
After several hours, he at last arrived at the hospital. He directly jumped out of the car even before it fully stopped. He ran as fast as he could toward the room that he frequented. This time, the route felt so far compared to before.
At last, he arrived at the front door. He momentarily stopped before it and tidied himself up before opening it.
He opened it. He could see a figure in front of him. This time he was not a lifeless sleeping person but a fully awake person that can directly look into his eyes. Aven could see that the person, raising the corner of his mouth. He could no longer control himself. He directly ran toward him with a big hug and tears streaming down his face.
How relieved he was to see the person he had waited for three years at last wake up. His own effort to keep being by this man's side was not wasted. The firm decision he had kept at last was paid off.
"Welcome back..." said Aven with a stammering voice.
Elwell, whose body was still weak cannot properly receive Aven's embrace. Still, he tried his hardest to say, "thank...yo...u...for...wai...ting...me". Elwell could only smile and tried his hardest to talk; aside from that, his whole body felt weak. He had been in a coma for three years; needless to say, his body was sore as it was not in use.
Aven bawled out loud when he heard what came from Elwell's mouth. He at last can finally be happy again. His sunshine has risen once again for him to shine even brighter. He no longer needs to put on a mask to show his brightness.
