Chapter 28: CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT:Meeting gone wrong.
Elijah walked into the hotel with his guard who led him to where few of the shareholders were seated down waiting for him.
Earlier,he had secretly summoned a meeting with the few shareholders who he believed were on his side for reasons unknown to the chairman and his brother Ezekiel.
He knew with the way things were going in the family about Zaiden and the girl they wanted him to marry,it would be wrong if history repeats itself but he needed to act fast if he needed Nathan on that seat.
His father may have the power to decide who he gives the company to, but having the shareholders on his side would help him in putting his plan to good use.
The second shareholders meeting for the month was in three days. He knew what the next shareholders meeting was all about,since his arrogant nephew had bluntly refused to get married to get his birthright wasn't it right he suggested a solution that was favourable to the company and also favourable to his son.
With the help of Mark,who was one of the major shareholders he was able to successfully hold the meeting in one of the top hotels in country Z,he was careful as to not leave any suspicion for his father and brother to know about his plan.
The chatter and laughter died down the minute he walked into the room,his face lightening up at the fact that with just his entrance he was able to make them feel intimidated.
This was just the perfect mood to get them to agree on what he has to say,and he knew they wouldn't be able to disagree because he has a reward for those willing to be on his side.
They all stood up to greet him and sat down when he signaled them with his hands,his guard at his back with Mr.Mark at his right hand side.
"Then let's begin"Mark said loudly to the filled room,there were in total twenty people sitting in the room,half of the shareholders in Knights Fashion Empire.
As if the guard knew what Mr.Mark meant when he said that,his boss signalled him as he communicated with other people through the Bluetooth he was wearing. Some guards came into the room holding a large bag.
The minute the bag was opened,the guards distributed the money according to how they were instructed to every individual sitting into the room.
The murmurings started,few of them looking at each other communicating through their eyes as they were afraid of saying what would make Elijah angry,while the few courageous ones lashed out the very minute the money was placed in front of them.
"What's the meaning of this?"
"Care to tell us what is going on Elijah?"
" I'm afraid we were called for a meeting and not for charity"
"Why are you doing this Elijah?"
The questions kept coming but the one person who the question was thrown at didn't lay a single comment,rather watching them keenly with an unusual smile on his face.
His face darkened when he heard the last statement that made him speak up immediately,as if the shareholder knew what was on his mind but he was not saying anything in his favor he was more like asking him if he knew what consequences he would get from doing this.
"I pray it's not a bribe for us to change our minds towards Zaiden right?"Leonard asked looking straight to Elijah,whose composition changed.
There was silence in the room after Leonard dropped the statement,everyone knew the tension in the room as they waited patiently to hear what Elijah's response would be.
"I've always loved you for your words Leonard, but don't you think you are sounding uncompelling"Elijah told him clenching his fist resting on his thigh.
He had never really taken a fancy to this man,No matter how hard he tried being friendly with him he would end up saying one or two things that would convince him that he didn't like him.
He had seen him countless times being comfortable around Ezekiel and the chairman,he turned to Mark who had his head bowed knowing that he was annoyed at him.
How did he even think that Leornard would say anything that would be in his favour when his brother has him wrapped around his hand.
After further deliberations within himself,Elijah decided to drop what his intentions were about today's meeting aside due to the fact that Leornard was amongst them and he would spoil his plan if he goes back to his brother to tell him about what really happened today.
He couldn't risk exposing his plans when his enemy was seated among him, this is such a spoiler alert!
"My son is finally back,a ceremony will be held in his name soon"Elijah finally said with a pretentious smile while deep down he felt like strangling Leornard.
Congratulatory words were given to him on behalf of Nathan's safe travel back to his country,while some were eager to know if he would soon begin work in the company.
But Elijah's mind was quite occupied with his thoughts that he didn't give a reply to the person that asked him that.
The waitress came in with trays containing many delicacies as he gestured to them to enjoy,he noticed the look on Leonard's face before he took a sip of his wine.
It pissed him off that he was clearly mocking him,as if he knew what his plan was all about before he had to change plans because of him.
Did Ezekiel figure out he has been planning a secret shareholders meeting?
No that was not possible,because he has been discreet about this information only few of his trusted men knew about this.
Did Mark tipped him off to his enemies?
In as much as he tried camouflaging the rage in him due to Leonard's presence in the room,Mark could still feel the intensity of his anger but he remained silent,rather,taking interest on what was served before them,eating and also avoiding Elijah's glare at him.
Elijah took the drink in front of him after taking a deep breath,he sipped the wine to still find the smug look on Leonard's face but he ignored the bastard.
After all,he was gradually winning the hearts of the shareholders who were enjoying his kind gesture towards them and soon he will get what he initially planned for.
Fuck his brother and Leornard!
He won't give up until he gets what rightfully belongs to him,even if it means taking extra measures to do that.
He doesn't care if it involves sacrificing lives to get the company,as long as his son is seated there,he would do anything to get to that seat.
After all,it would be too ridiculous to give the company to a gay.
Zaiden would never be able to ascend to that throne as long as he doesn't get married,this had and will always be the tradition.
His old man wouldn't think of changing that for his precious grandson,would he?
