Chapter 91: Chapter - 91 - Minghuan Work Harder

Upon hearing the commotion, Yi Minghuan emerged from the kitchen, warmly greeting Tang Li and their visitor, Uncle Wang.

With a smile, he shared, "The steamed buns will be ready in 5 minutes, the soup is still simmering, and the main dishes are yet to be prepared."

Tang Li, eager to help, assured him, "No worries, I'll lend a hand, and we'll have dinner in half an hour." She pulled up a chair for Uncle Wang, encouraging him to sit while she rolled up her sleeves, washed her hands, and started selecting fresh vegetables.

Returning to the kitchen, Yi Minghuan checked the fire beneath the pot, adjusting it and removing any excess firewood to ensure the buns wouldn't overcook.

As they worked on their tasks, Tang Li struck up a conversation, asking, "Have you completed the household registration? Have you purchased everything we need?"

Yi Minghuan replied, "All the documents are submitted and should be ready in two days. I've gathered everything, except the chickens. Transporting them back would be a challenge given all the other items I had."

"Okay we will then buy it in two days." Tang Li expressed a hint of disappointment, thinking about the adorable yellow chicks she hoped to have.

However, Uncle Wang chimed in with a solution, "Why go searching in town for chicks? Mrs. Lin in our village recently had her old hen hatch a clutch of chicks. Just offer her some grain, and you can bring a few of them home."

Tang Li's face lit up with joy, and she exclaimed, "It is said that if there is an old man in a family, there is a treasure, and it's certainly true in your case! If you hadn't mentioned it, we might have needlessly spent a fortune!"

Uncle Wang beamed, gratified by her compliment and felt very comfortable in his heart. Ever since the loss of his son, he had lived a solitary life, which often left him feeling empty.

Sitting in the yard, watching the smoke rise from the kitchen, and listening to the young couple's conversation, Uncle Wang felt a warm sense of belonging and nostalgia, believing that this was the essence of life.

Taking advantage of the friendly atmosphere, Tang Li brought up the subject of installing a courtyard gate, given that this was initially Uncle Wang's residence. Seeking his opinion on this matter, she inquired.

"Uncle, Minghuan and I want to install a courtyard gate, do you have any opinions?"

Uncle Wang initially appeared concerned, fearing the expense of a courtyard gate might leave them struggling to afford necessities.

However, Tang Li's explanation convinced him of the necessity, and he offered practical advice on sourcing wood and collecting broken stones to save costs.

With Uncle Wang's decades of knowledge about the village, Tang Li felt well-guided, knowing whom to seek assistance from in the future and how to navigate with everyone in the village.

Half an hour later, the meal was ready.

The aroma of freshly steamed cornmeal buns, mixed with a touch of wheat flour, wafted through the air. Tang Li, in her culinary enthusiasm, prepared three fried eggs and a couple of vegetable dishes, without any meat dishes.

Uncle Wang, however, insisted that the eggs were too extravagant, resisting Tang Li's attempts to persuade him to eat more after having a spoonful.

He commented, "I'm an old man; there's no need for me to indulge in such delicacies. Both of you, please eat heartily and get all the nutrients you need. Try to have a baby soon, so your father can rest in peace after his death."

This unexpected encouragement startled Yi Minghuan, who looked at Tang Li in bewilderment.

Today, uncle wang is the second person who persuaded him to give birth quickly, what's going on?!

With Uncle Wang present, Tang Li found herself unable to discuss the topic of starting a family openly.

She pretended to be bashful, keeping her head down and continuing to eat. Uncle Wang chuckled but remained silent, intensifying Yi Minghuan's curiosity and bewilderment.

Yi Minghuan, "....."

Inwardly, Yi Minghuan wondered how much harder he needed to work to meet the expectations now set by Uncle Wang!
