Chapter 40: Felix - velvet
I drop my bag on my ground and hop on my bed as I pull my phone out so I can call Maria:
"Hey," I say.
"Hey," she distrotaly says so desperately and shaky.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, who are you guys?"
"I'm fine--we're all fine but I'm worried about you!"
"I got out of jail."
"Really?! How?"
"I got proven innocent."
"I'm so glad--"
"But--I-I.."
The phone beeps and I try calling her back, "Sorry this user's not available." the motioned voice on the other line states followed by a buzzing sound.
I try three more times but the same robotic voice repeats on the other end. I wonder if she's okay. I wonder if she'll get us back. I wonder...
...but I can only wonder.
