Chapter 102: New sweets... or not
On the other side, Irene and the kid's squad went directly inside and went to the city square immediately. When they entered Glasgow, the chipmunks' eyes are shining as they looked at the store buildings at the front.
It is said that a first good impression is important when it comes to building up your territory. Although they were in awe at the buildings for a second Erza and Kagura's fawning didn't last much because they had already been to Lucis where their building designs were much more beautiful and much more aesthetic than Glasgow. Pitou on the other hand is more like curious of what the shops are selling. She had seen food, your everyday items, and other things like potions, scrolls, and many more.
When they arrived at the City Square, many people were looking at the carriage in awe, respect and jealousy. They knew that it was the Green Family's carriage because the little princess of the Green family would always come and stroll around with her guards and would buy anything she would fancy.
When they got down, the stares of the crowd focused on the door. Although they knew that the little princess of the Green family is cute and adorable, they just can't help but stare at her. Though, what came down from the carriage is a mature and beautiful woman with scarlet hair.
She got down without needing the assitance of the coach drivers and she carried the childrens down one by one by herself.
"Looks like someone's getting heavy." Irene said and Erza pouted her mouth.
"I'm not heavy, I'm growing!" Erza said.
"I didn't say anyone's name though?" Irene said while chuckling making Erza embarrassed and the kids giggled with Irene.
"Anyway, Kia, you're the guide, where should we go first?" Irene said saving Erza from the embarrassing moment.
Kia had a big smile on her face as she led the group at their first stop where they only took a minute because they literally got down near the place. What came to their eyes is a big building with at least 3 floors.
"We're here, at my favorite place! Lazar's Confectionery! Let's go in! I heard that there's going to be a new sweet coming out after they acquired a new equipment." Kia said as shee has a big smile on her face and they were also curious as to what it is.
When they entered the sweets shop, Irene and the chipmunks has a weird look on their face. What they saw in the display is a food that they have eaten many times and is Pitou's favorite food... a Taiyaki.
They saw that a lot of people were buying and enjoying the food and Kia is starting to drool as she looked at the fish shaped taiyaki.
A server welcomed the new customers and when they saw Kia, the server immediately told their manager and the manager personally came forward to meet them.
"Welcome to Lazar's Confectionery. Miss Kia, we've already prepared the box you reserved earlier. This way please." The manager respectfully said and guided them to a luxurious room where there's a big table at the middle of it.
"I hope this room suits your taste." The manager said and Kia nodded her head in satisfaction.
"Give me the best sweets you have right now." Kia ordered and the manager nodded his head.
"As you wish." He bowed and left the room for the special guests to have their private time.
"I'm excited, eating the new sweet! Are you excited too?!" Kia asked and looked at them but she saw them not interested in it and thought that they didn't like coming here.
"Do you not like the place?" Asked Kia.
"No, the place is fine." Kagura said.
"Do you not like sweets? Should we just go to another place? Its fine, I can always eat them later on." Kia said with a sad smile.
"Oh no, dear. We do like sweet things... but its not the problem..." Irene said to Kia.
"W-what's the problem? Is it the manager? Is it the luxurious room?" Kia continued asking.
"No... you might not know about this... but we've eaten the new food lots of time already, in fact it is Pitou's favorite food because it's a fish and sweet as well." Irene said to Kia and she had a shocked expression on her face.
"You do?! When?! Is it good?!" Kia asked.
"Un. Father used to make them before. And everything my father makes is good!" Erza nodded her head.
"Your papa? Your papa made them for you?!" Kia said in shock.
"Papa? What is that?" Kagura asked.
"Papa is the same as father and mama is for mother, but we use papa or mama because its short and more informal." Kia explained.
"Un. Fa- Papa made them for us a lot of times with m-mama. Papa also made us strawberry shortcakes which is mama and Erza's favorite food. There's also the ice cream and cookies that Fa- Papa made for us." Kagura said as she had trouble of transitioning to a new name. They liked the term papa and mama more because they are indeed much easier to say.
"Whaaaaaa... How envious... I wish I could try them..." Kia said her mouth started getting watery, making her gulp when she heard amazing sweets that the kid's father made for them.
"Don't worry, we could ask Papa to make some." Kagura said and Kia immediately lightened up and stood from her chair.
"Really?!" Kia said.
"Un. Papa always gives us sweets after eating." Pitou said to Kia which made her excited.
When the manager came back, he brought three servers with him who are pushing three kitchen trolleys with five plates each covered with a plate cover.
The manager then personally removed the cover of the trays and served the plates to each of them and placed their utensils. Each plate consist of three taiyaki simply placed in the center of the plate which is not appealing for Irene and the kid's standards.
"Please, enjoy our new sweet on our menu, the Taiyaki." Irene could see that the manager is having a hard time speaking the name but he managed to say it in the end.
"You can leave, we're going to eat." Kia said and the manager nodded and ordered the servers to come with him.
"As you wish, Miss Kia. I hope you enjoy your food." The man respectfully bowed and left.
After the man left, Kagura asked Kia if there's a place where they could wash their hands.
"Why do you ask?" Kia asked confusingly.
"Because Papa taught us that there's a tiny little thing on our hand called germs when we played outside and is the main cause of sickness. So we want to wash our hands so that we can get rid of the germs in our hands." Erza said making Kia confused but let them be.
"In the corner, there are vats of water you could use for anything." Kia said and they stood up to clean their hands. Irene then took out a clean towel on her pocket and used it to dry their hands.
They then sat down and started eating. Kia was about to start eating as well and picked up her cutlery when she saw them not using a cutlery and picked up the taiyaki with their hands.
"Why are you eating the Taiyaki like that?" Kia asked.
"Because my papa told me that eating taiyaki is meant to be eaten with your hands and eating it with a cutlery is a major sin and disrespectful towards the taiyaki." Pitou said as she had the most knowledge about taiyaki.
"I-Is that so...?" Kia then dropped her cutlery and was about to pick the Taiyaki up when Irene stopped her as she used her magic to form a small pocket of water.
"You should wash your hands first, Kia. Ypu don't want to get sick if you consumed germs, right?" Irene said and Kia dipped her hand in the small pocket of water and scrubbed her hand inside it. After she washed her hands, Irene took out the towel they used earlier and helped dry Kia's hand. She then conjured a fireball and made the water evaporate before putting out the fireball.
"Now, let's eat." Irene said with a smile and they picked up their taiyaki and took a bite on it. Because Kia didn't know how to properly eat it, all she ate was the tail which is pure bread.
"You should start at the head or the torso. That's where the filling is." Pitou said as she took a bite in the head and a syrupy goo came out of it. Kia nodded her head in understanding and took a bite in the head portion. The sweet filling filled her small mouth and mixed with the bread which created a new consistency in her mouth making her smile in delight.
"It's delicious and sweet!" Kia exclaimed while the others have disappointed look on their faces.
"Its... so-so. I guess. The filling is overly sweet and looked more gooey. Compared to what papa and mama makes which has the right amount of sweetness and the filling is not this syrupy compared to what papa makes which has a bite in it." Pitou as the expert shared her thoughts and the trio nodded in her explanation.
Noctis' ingredients are the absolute best that's why the food standards of his family is much higher compared to the norm. Although they could still eat other foods other than the ones made by Noctis, if they were to make a comparison, they will always pick Noctis' food.
"I-is that so?" Kia felt dejected after eating the taiyaki.
"Don't worry, this is a good sweet on its own. Its just that the one my husband makes is far better." Irene said as she consoled Kia and continued eating. Pitou on the other hand, after sharing her thoughts, she's in her own world as she is on her second plate.
Seeing them eating it, Kia finally enjoyed the food and managed to clear up 6 plates before having her fill. Irene, Erza, and Kagura only finished one plate while Pitou also finished 6 plates.
They then started to rest as the tour of the day is just getting started.
