Chapter 3: Adjusting(1)

I begin to examine my body, trying to figure out what eating those souls did to me. Suddenly, my body seemed to increase in weight, my vision lowering, I see all around me, is a cloud of thick black sand. Suddenly the anger I feel disappears, as the sight of everything around me overwhelms my mind.

My body stiffens, and I fall, the black sand that seems to make up my body, turning into a large stone. Strangely enough, the moment the sand turned to stone, my sight reduced, only seeing the things around and above me instead of everything in every direction. Suddenly my mind has a lot less to process, allowing me to fully process the sudden change in my body.

"Fuck my head."

My body began to naturally relax as the pain I feel begins to calm, in response, the black stone once again becomes a collection of black sand, gently floating into the air. Once again, I can see everything around me, the grey soil, the endless black tree-tops, and blood-red trees filling my head, almost as if my body has become a massive collection of all-seeing eyes.

Once again, my mind begins to hurt, in response the black sand dives towards the ground, spreading and flattening covering several trees worth of space, once again my sight changes. All I see is the black tree-tops above me, seemingly reaching the clouds.

I sit still and relax, calming my mind. After an unknown amount of time, my thoughts returned to me.

"...what happened to me?"

After struggling to even look at things, I began to think about how little I ever really cared about my body. Whenever dad hit me I never fought back, I would just accept it, give him my money, and moved to my small room, not bothering to treat my wounds. I hated how all it took was a light punch to cause pain for days, I hated how my stomach would always complain, and I hated how my body took so long to heal. I hated being human, but now, after making losing my humanity to the king of all evil, I can say it was the best thing ever.

Suddenly the black sand began to rise again, this time collecting forming what appears to be a human arm. Slowly the black sand blanketing the ground began to gather and rise, forming human body parts. First appeared hands, then arms, then a chest, then legs, then a waist, and finally feet. From my arms, I see my waist and chest and from my waist and chest, I see my arms and the area around me.

While I try to process what in the ever-loving hell just happened, I notice behind me is a large red wolf slowly moving from tree to tree, getting ready to pounce on me. Suddenly, as if noticing it's no longer unknown, it stops trying to be stealthy and outright charges at me with its snout wide open.

My body goes stiff, turning to stone as it charges at me. It pushes me down and attempts to bite me but fails as my body is too hard for it to damage. Instead of breaking my neck, it breaks its teeth. Seeing that it can't hurt me my body relaxes once again turning into a cloud of black sand.

The red wolf stops as the surprise of the strange human exploding into a cloud of dust seems to overwhelm its mind. Unfortunately, it didn't still for long, trying to run and escape the massive and thick cloud that suddenly swallowed it but before it could even move a few steps the cloud began to collect around it, shrinking and increasing in density. Within a few moments, the strange mist from that strange human has turned into a blindingly thick mud trying it's hardest to invade and devour it's body, following it's most primal of urges, its hunting instinct.

In less than two minutes the black monstrosity had fully devoured the red wolf leaving nothing of its existence.

"...."

I...what? I saw a wolf behind me then my head shut down. Where the hell did it go?

I'm standing a few steps closer to a tree than I was before, and for some reason, my body feels really warm, like I just drank a bowl of extra thick bread broth. Not only that but for some reason any difficulty I had trying to process my expanded eyesight has completely disappeared. Everything becomes clear, making it easier to examine my body. I move my hands in front of my face to see if I can see with my palms too.

It seems all of my body has become my eyes, causing things to mix or blend as everything is seen from multiple angles. What I see with my arms is very different from my waist yet for some reason a single clear image appears in my head.

My body is smooth with seemingly no joints, all the wrinkles and scars gone. It looks like a roughly made wooden doll painted black and it appears to be several times denser than the cloud of sand I was before, looking almost solid.

...Hunt.

"What, whose there!"

...Hunt.

"....."

Hunt!

"That's right I have to hunt and eat that bastard. I hope he tastes good hehe, just like those souls."

That's right didn't I eat that wolf, though it was a weird instinct thing...maybe I should just use my instinct and drop my humanity for a bit, at least until I can eat that bastard.

I begin to walk, moving to where that wolf came from, looking for my next meal, finding one quickly. This time instead of a large red wolf with almost no fur, I found a small red bunny with short ears on the sides of its head. It seems to have no fur and just like mine, its body is smooth, with no eyes, no mouth, and what barely qualifies as a body. I shut down my mind and let my body take control, turning into a large sand cloud spreading and covering a large amount of space around the bunny. Once again, my body begins to shrink and gather, increasing in density, turning into a tide of black mud.

My body attempts to invade the bunny but fails as there's nothing for it to enter, my body has no idea how to respond, continuing to attempt to dig into its ears, smacking against its head countless times, eventually turning the bunny into a disfigured mess of grossly shaped body parts loosely connected to each other.

Even with its body beaten beyond recognition, it continues to live, its legs twitching intensely.

"How the hell do I go about eating this?"h
