Chapter 2: Unexpected

"I'm sorry, what?" Ysanne asked, shock very apparent in her face and voice.

"Let me take you in," Song repeated. "I don't know what it is, but I have such a good feeling about you. I wanna help you!"

"I'm sorry, but I can't accept that." Ysanne got to her feet and began getting her stuff together. "You don't even know me, so how can you just trust me to come Into your home? I could be a thief!"

Ysanne began walking away but Song quickly got to her feet, blocking her in her path.

"Please," she pleaded, "I can't let you go knowing that you're suffering. I know it's weird for a complete stranger to offer so much, but I'm a complete stranger who understands and wants to do my part since I can! I've always wanted a daughter, so having you in my home would give me some really great feminine energy! I'd love to help you get the education you deserve as well. Please!"

Ysanne shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I would feel like I owe you far too much. I don't like feeling like a burden to anyone, I've felt that way for years with my own parents."

"But you won't be a burden! I want you to come, I'm excited about the thought! It's like an adoption, except you're past the legal age. Won't you trust me? I'll tell you anything you wanna know, I'll even give you a background check of myself."

"That won't be necessary Miss Song, but thank you though, really. You're a very kind woman-"

Ysanne tried to walk away, but once again, Song cut her off, holding her hands out in a desperate attempt to stop her.

"Hey! Okay, fine, you don't have to stay forever, but at least let me house you this week so I can give you a good meal and you can get a good shower and some rest. If you have laundry, you can do it as well."

Ysanne creased her eyebrows at Song. She didn't know what to think of her persistence; it was slightly creepy, but at the same time it seemed so genuine. What was the likelihood this woman told her a fake sob story so she could kidnap her? Seemed very unlikely, especially when she seemed to have such a great business, but Ysanne had to be cautious. It's not everyday you meet a sympathetic individual who wants to do a good deed just for the hell of it. What was she to do in that situation? She was desperate, but she was also very skeptical...what to do?

"Your kindness makes me suspicious," Ysanne said as she folded her arms. "I'm not used to kindness so this is a little strange; honestly, I don't think many people encounter kindness like this often."

"I know, I seem like a lunatic luring you in," Song said, her hands raised in defense, "but honestly, I'm just trying to help. Look, I'm selfish too, I'm also doing this partly so I don't feel bad for seeing someone who needs help and not helping, so if that helps you feel a little better, there you go! Don't let a corrupt world scare you away from a good thing!"

Ysanne twisted her mouth to the side as she took a moment to think. She really wanted to walk away, but at the same time she was desperate. What's more dangerous, being on the street with a suitcase and fifty bucks susceptible to the elements and crime, or in a home where for a night at least, she could eat to her fill and get the wet clothes she was so worried about, all clean and dry. Not to mention, she could finally shower instead of using wipes every so often to make sure she wasn't smelly. Also, her period would start soon...SHIT! Her period would start soon...faaaaaaaack....that was making the offer look even more appealing. A homeless woman's period is very scary...hygiene would be very hard...VERY hard.

As Ysanne battled with herself, it became apparent what her best option was. She sighed and roled her eyes in defeat...

"Just one night!" She said pulling her luggage close, "that's all!"

"Yay!" Song exclaimed, twirling with joy. "Victory! Okay, give me five minutes to close up and we'll head out to my car. I'm so excited!"

As song left to do her thing, Ysanne shook her head and sat down once more, returning to her coffee. What had she done? God, she hoped she made the right choice.

Soon Song was finished and they were out the door. The rain had eased up, only drizzling, so they walked swiftly to the car. Song noticed Ysanne getting into the back of the vehicle and quickly stopped her.

"You can sit in the front if you want," she smiled. "It's a better view anyway."

Ysanne nodded, placing her luggage in the back before heading to sit upfront, then they headed off.

Song's car was very comfortable; it was an Audi SUV with black leather, heated seats. It looked very expensive so Ysanne felt very uncomfortable sitting in it in her messy, unhygienic state. Song looked over at her and noticed the discomfort written on her face.

"Are you that worried about going to my place," she asked with a frown. "I'm genuinely a nice person, I promise. I just want to help."

Ysanne looked over at her and shook her head. "At the moment I'm just uncomfortable about messing up your nice car."

"Oh, I thought you were still weirded out by my offer." Song smiled, "your face looked so off. Don't worry about my car by the way, it's no big deal. It's easy to clean and you're fairly dry now so I'm not concerned."

"Okay." Ysanne nodded and stared out the window.

The city was beautiful. The streets were clean and the buildings were tall and majestic, with lights that illuminated the late evening sky. The town was truly foreign, it was nothing like her hometown, she didn't even mean to stay there. She lost her bus pass and didn't have enough money to get another to hop on the connection, so she ended up staying and searching for a job.

As they left the bustling city and greeted the residential areas, Ysanne began feeling like a child that entered a giant toy store. They drove through security gates to enter the magnificent community that lay ahead. The houses were big and extravagant, and all had tall fences and gates in fancy designs; it was like every house was home to some very important individual.

As they travelled further along, they got to an area with simpler houses, but non the less, still extremely beautiful and the gate they stopped at made Ysanne tilt her head. You couldn't see anything. It was a tall, black fence with an automatic gate; on both sides were smaller doors, probably for people going in an out.

Once the gate opened and they drove in, Ysanne's mouth fell to the floor. It was as if they had driven into another land; it felt so surreal and tropical. The design was so open and welcoming, as if George-of-the-jungle became an architect. The house was heavily made and accented by panels of beautiful mahogany wood. Portions of the walls were white, and clear, giant windows gave sight to the extravagant interior. The only places that weren't very visible was what she assumed to be the bedrooms or bathrooms, and the kitchen. Some of the windows had giant black drapes drawn for privacy purposes.

Song noticed the look of awe on Ysanne's face and smiled proudly; maybe this would make it more appealing for her to want to stay.

"Welcome to my home Ysanne," She said cheerfully. "I'm so excited for this!"

One of the three garage doors opened and Song parked the car. They got out and Ysanne slowly followed her into the house, looking around as if she were in some incredible museum. Once inside, she stopped; again she was speechless. All this fancy for a woman who owned a bakery? She must've owned one hell of a business. They were now standing in a giant space that gave way to a spacious living room, a giant kitchen and a wide, two sided staircase that lead to rooms on the upper floor.

"Like it?" Song asked, walking ahead.

"You must have a popular bakery," Ysanne said softly, still trying to process everything.

Song laughed, "While I do have a popular bakery, this isn't all because of me. My husband is a famous Neurosurgeon, Legend Geo."

"Oh, wow...okay."

"Yup, we have three sons. Two are following in his footsteps and the youngest helps me out at the bakery."

"Wait what? You have sons?" Ysanne was now shocked for a different reason. "When you said you always wanted a daughter, I didn't know it was because you had all boys. I thought you didn't have kids."

"Oh, nope! I'm a mama to a group of apes. They're just wild and fun, well the two oldest, youngest is so very different, but sometimes I wanna go get a mani-pedi and go shopping and of course they don't wanna do that with me because they have toxic masculinity...sometimes. They're good boys, really."

"How old are they?"

"Well, my youngest is twenty-one and the twins are 26 and in their first year of residency. Youngest is a junior majoring in Biology and minoring in nutrition, but he also does modeling so really it's for his back up plan. Dad was a bit disappointed he didn't want to be a doctor as well, but he's a brilliant boy so he's still proud of him, plus it's science."

"So, he's got like a year left then?"

"Yup! And five more years for my twins. Anyway, how about I show you to your room." Song motioned for her to follow.

"Temporary room," Ysanne corrected, pulling her luggage along.

Song rolled her eyes, "yes, yes, whatever... we'll see."

"What?"

"Just follow me and shush already!"

Ysanne shook her head and closely followed, but instead of going up the stairs, they headed through a door which exited to the back yard. There was a giant pool with a waterfall and hot tub connected, surrounded by lounge chairs and benches with umbrellas. On the other side of the pool, probably 500 feet, was another building, a small one. Ysanne followed song into it and her eyes widened. It was like a mini house.

"This is the guest room where you will be staying," Song said. "You also have your own bathroom attached. Figured you'd prefer staying here, a bit away from the rambunctious males. This way if you choose to take me up on my offer, you have your own little area to get away and study or relax."

"This is the nicest place I've ever been," Ysanne said, "and it's only a room."

Song laughed and patted her shoulder. "Oh, you're so precious. Anyway, how about you get situated and freshen up. Ill grab some clean clothing to loan you while I do your laundry."

"That won't be necessary, if you show me how to use your equipment I can do it myself."

"Nonsense!" Song grabbed Ysanne's luggage and placed it behind her back, "I would be most comfortable taking care of these for you. I'm a mother, so really I don't mind Sweetheart. Just worry about getting clean and comfortable; everything you need is in the bathroom. I'll be back in a bit with some clothing and i'll place it on your bed."

Song quickly left before Ysanne could protest, closing the door behind her. Rolling her eyes, Ysanne decided to head to the bathroom to take that long due shower. It had been weeks since she had gotten a proper shower and she knew that despite using her wipes, she still smelled like a musty fish factory and she needed to rectify her situation pronto.

Like Song said, There were already all the necessary toiletries present, so she quickly turned on the shower and undressed. Once she stepped inside she let out moan as the warm water soothed her skin. The way it massaged and ran over her body, soaking into her hair and washing all dirt and debris away; she had a whole new appreciation for showers. She grabbed the provided loofa and poured the wonderfully scented lavender and essential oils body wash onto it before scrubbing every inch of herself clean. She needed to feel like a freshly molted reptile after her weeks of poor hygiene. She then washed her hair with the mint shampoo and conditioner, leaving her scalp tingly and cool. The last thing she did before exiting the shower was wash her face then she dried her hair and body thoroughly before wrapping her self in the towel and heading to the bedroom.

Just as Song promised, there was clothing laying on the bed and she quickly got dressed. It was a slightly large, simple white t-shirt, knee length shorts and a pair of slippers. She quickly slipped into them and tied her hair in a bun atop her head, using her own hair to keep it in place.

As Ysanne was about to leave the room, she heard voices outside, they seemed to be arguing playfully. She immediately froze, refusing to make even the slightest shuffle in fear the people outside might come and inspect. The voices belonged to males, so she simply assumed they had to belong to Song's sons who probably didn't known about her situation as yet.

Ysanne decided her best option was to simply sit on on the carpet and wait for them to disappear, which could possibly take forever but she was fine with falling asleep there as long she could evade them. With her new plan set, she slowly got to her knees and quietly sat on the carpeted floor, crossing her legs and resting against the foot of the bed; she stayed quiet and eased dropped on the outside conversation.

"Uhg! Today was so stressful. The emergency room was hell...."

"Today wasn't too bad for me...got to watch a few surgeries. Did some Check-ups and tests as well. Nothing crazy."

"Doctoring is hard man."

"Tell me about it, but it's great though. All the lives those guys are saving. I can't wait to do all that."

"Well if we don't die for the next four years we'll be Gucci."

"Hey boys!" Song's voice said from out of the blue.

Now Ysanne was sitting up, Wide-eyed and very attentive. She could hear footsteps coming her way and her heart sped up in a panic.

"Where you going mom?" A voice asked.

"To the guest house." Song answered.

"Why?" The other voice asked.

"Oh, we have a guest. I met her today outside my shop."

"Her?" Both voices said in unison, sounding both shocked and interested.

There were sounds of splashing and soon after more footsteps began heading towards the guesthouse. Now Ysanne was in full panic mode. She shot to her feet and stared at the door. Waiting for the thing the thing she feared the most while chanting "Go away!" Internally.

"Ysanne," Song knocked on the door lightly. "I've got some visitors!"
