Chapter 1: A Love Untold
"Mama, I'm sorry. I promise you, I will come back. No matter what happens please stay strong."
"Trix, please just stay. I'm old. It's okay. Everything will be fine just don't go."
Then suddenly I woke up.
Like any other day, it's the same old dream. It surely is nice if I can come back to mama. I've been living here for about 3 years now in exchange for my mom's life. I don't wanna regret anything that's why I did it.
My mom suffered every single day of her life and I know she suffers more now. Losing my mom is probably my worst nightmare. I don't wanna lose her in front of my eyes without doing anything. Atleast I can do something for her now than back then.
I surely am not the daughter any mother can ask for but I do love my mama. I behave like a kid, swearing at my mom and letting her cry for my sake are the things I regret. Even now, I still can't stop thinking that she suffered because of me. Before I knew it, she was already in stage 3 of cancer. I cried and cried and fucking swear at myself for being the worst daughter.
We didn't have any money and she never want to spend any money for herself because she wants me to finish my studies. She dislikes going to the doctor because it costs a lot, she even stopped her medication because we're just poor.
"You need to study, okay? Do it for your sake and my sake so that you won't end up like me."
That's what she keeps telling me every day, then hugs me as her tears flows then smiles at me. I didn't know and kept ignoring those times. I never thought that she has cancer and she knew. It's like she's preparing herself saying goodbye. She kept telling me to behave and be good to others. She even gave me my bank account.
That when I feel like something's wrong. I didn't go to school. I followed her secretly, that's when I found out that she's not well and after a few days she got admitted into the hospital. I've rushed into the hospital, there I saw her not in the best shape. I've asked the doctor what's wrong then told me that she's in stage 3 of cancer.
I've realized by that time,
"Don't spend this at some junks, okay? Spend it when you got to college. Spend it wisely. And promise me that you'll be honest and don't spend this money for just anything, not even for my sake, okay?"
That's what she said.
Mama really is terrible for making me promise those things. She knew that I don't break my promises. That time, I knew I had to do something even breaking my promise but she'll be broken hearted if she were to find out that I spend the money for her sake.
I know that thinking about that now is totally meaningless but I can't help it. I did go to school and asked my friends outside of school any job they knew that's well paid. But it'll took me years to earn and mama doesn't want me to work yet because she wants me to focus on my studies. I've even want to sell myself for money but I can never do that and I am afraid. I even thought of selling prohibited drugs but that still can't do. If the school find out then they'll kick me out.
I was losing hope on where can I find the money. Then another annoying jerk glared at me.
"What do you want?! Jerk." I've told him and glared at him.
"Not so soft now huh, baby?"
"What the hell do you want?!" I've asked him again.
"Come to my place, baby. I'll pay you big time." He told me and gave me a card.
"I'm not a hooker idiot." I cursed at him and glared.
"Oh dear! You misunderstand me. I'm sorry if I offended you baby but it just looks like you need something. That card can help you, just come by baby. Our door is open for you." Then he just went.
But on second thought I should check it out.
I followed him secretly and I really am surprised that lots of people are lining up just to get in their company.
I've thought about it and since I got his card maybe he can help me out. I can do some decent work rather than selling my own self and also it's not that bad gaining experience working in a company.
I've got in easily because of the card then I've looked for him. I can't ask the staffs since I didn't have his name so I've searched and searched and there I was exhausted. I've asked some people whom I met in the way yet they do not know who I am referring to.
"Excuse me, miss. Do you know someone who's this tall and quite a good looking and dressed formally? He wore black and has quite a nice figure?"
"I'm sorry ma'am but I do not know who you are referring to. Ask for Liam or Liana, they're at the staff room and maybe you'll find who you are looking for."
"Thank you, miss."
"You're welcome, ma'am."
I don't even know where the staff room is but I can ask around. I've headed to the staff room and asked for Liana and Liam then they've escorted me to the Game Center. There I saw lots of staff who're wearing black suits and gosh Game Center in this company is a totally different. Way too luxurious.
I've looked around but he's nowhere to be found.
"Miss, the person who I'm looking for is not here. Do you know this card?"
"You should have shown us that card in the first place ma'am. He's part of the high staff in the company. He is Sir Adam. Let us escort you to him, ma'am."
"Thank you, miss."
His office is at the top, and God please I'm sleepy. It's boring. It took us almost an hour just to get there.
"Sir Adam, someone's looking for you."
"Let the guest come in."
"Ma'am, we'll leave you here. If there are things you need, just come to us. We'll gladly help you."
"Thank you, miss."
How nervous I am. I don't even wanna open the door. It felt wrong. I really wanna turn back now. I hope he could help me out. I knocked and opened the door. There I saw him at his desk.
'Wow! It surely is nice to have a room this big.'
"Oh hi there again, you sure are fast baby."
"You told me, you could help me. How?"
"Well baby, do you need money?"
"Yes."
"Then work for me baby. But before I hire you, read this contract and sign it."
"What kind of work? I'm still a student, I can only work on Saturdays and Sundays."
"My assistant baby."
"Can you pay me in advance?"
"Do you urgently need that money baby?"
"Yes."
"Why baby? Tell me then I'll think about it. You know why I hired you?"
"Not exactly."
"Okay, from now on. Address me something formally. Will you baby?"
"I'm sorry, sir. I was rude."
"That's more like it. I don't hire just anyone. I've encountered you for about 4 times now but I'll tell you about that later. I dig your backgrounds and you're worth for the job. But if you work for me, make sure your work will please me or the deals off. You know what I mean, right baby?
"Yes, sir."
"And also, don't drink and don't even think about selling yourself or even drugs to obtain money. You know there will be no second chances."
"Yes, sir."
"Okay, you're dismissed. I'll pay the bills for your mother's treatment but be sure to pay me back for your good work. Start by next week."
"Will do, sir."
Mama got better. And better but I after I graduated. My work was still on processed. Sir Adam have his work overseas and I need to follow him. He provided everything I need but mama don't wanna let me go.
"Trix please, don't go. Stay here with me."
"Mama, I'll come back. I promise."
I really hope she'll do fine. Ate is there to take care of her and my niece also transferred at our school so I'm sure she'll be fine.
For 3 years now, I'm still single. How sad can my life be? Will someone ever like me? Am I even gonna get married? Sir Adam have always kept me away from boys. He said they're a bad influence on me. And he always kept me busy with work.
I'm still in college. Am I not allowed to have any boyfriend? Will I be single forever?
With these things on my mind. I don't really know Sir Adam is living his own life.
"Baby"
"Sir, what can I help you with?"
"I think you're the one who needs help. Do you wanna ask me something?"
"Sir, why do you keep calling me 'baby'? It's been 3 years now. And now, most of the staff are thinking we're on a relationship? Sir, you can call me by my name."
"But do you think we're that close for me to call you by your name baby?"
"Sir Adam, 3 years is enough. I've been your secretary for 3 years. How can you say that?"
"Oh really baby?"
"But I think I know the reason why you don't call me by my name?"
"Then why do you think baby?"
I was thinking on telling him 'he likes me' but I think he'll just laugh at me or even keep his distance away from me or either punish me. Lots of staff here likes him. We're at the same age but he's my boss. Wow! His life and my life are truly the opposite. But I hope he will find someone who's worthy of him.
"You like me, don't you sir?"
Oh my gosh! Why the hell did I just say? I hope he won't misunderstand.
"I'm just kidding, sir."
"Well, what about you baby? Do you have anyone you like? It's been three years yet you didn't found any boyfriend? Or do you like me and waiting for me?"
There he goes again…
"Yes, I do Sir Adam. I like you."
"Hmm. You know how to play joke huh baby?"
"What If I told you I'm not joking Sir Adam?"
"Are you now baby?"
"Yes, it's true."
Wow! Will I continue or not? I hope he won't take me seriously.
"Prove it then baby."
He smiled and is provoking me.
'What the hell did I get myself into?'
I've step closer and closer and closer to him and then I've tried to reach out and ki…..sss. Well, I don't have the courage to do that.
"I'm just kidding Sir Adam. Please don't take me seriously."
He suddenly drew me closer to him. Then he drew his face closer to mine. I'm shocked as hell. I can't move. My heartbeats way too fast. My face is burning up.
Then he smirked and whispered.
"I like you baby."
'He's way too close.'
"Hmm. Sir Adam, please control yourself. You're too close."
"You're no fun baby. I thought it would work."
I thought he was serious. I don't know why but I really do feel disappointed. I know he's way too busy with the company since he is the heir and has lots of appointments. How sad. Does he ever felt liking someone? Does he have someone he like?
Just like that another summer vacation is gone. And now another surprise, he came to my school.
'Oh please! Just go away. Stop ruining my school life.'
My work for him changed even the hours. I became his personal secretary to keep girls away from him. He's really a bad boss. But why would he use me? And also, I am not a beauty or is he using me as his ugly secretary to drive of some pretty faces? I don't really get him. He kept telling me keep a low profile and shouldn't care whatever might I get caught into, he'll take me as his responsibility. Now that I think of it, I might have fallen for him if I took everything he said seriously. Thank goodness I'm that naïve.
"I forgot to tell you baby.."
"What is it Sir Adam?"
"I have some business to attend to in this school so I'll see you often."
"Why don't you just transfer, Sir Adam?"
"Good idea baby."
"Sir, I'm just kidding. Don't take it seriously."
"No. It is a good idea baby. Besides I'll get to see you here at your school. And right, even if you're here at school, work is still work, okay?"
"Yes sir. I understand."
"But when we're here in your school, Don't address me 'Sir Adam', call me 'baby'."
"Sir, I'm sorry but I cannot do that."
"Hmm. Baby how come you're no fun?"
"Sir Adam, you've got an appointment. Don't let the guest waiting. I'll proceed now to my class. Good seeing you Sir Adam."
"Okay, I'll see you later baby."
I've got back on my classes and who knows. I never thought everything will start from that point.
"Good morning to everyone, we have someone who'll be joining you from now on. Even if in just a short term. I hope you'll be good to him. Adam come in."
Why did he suddenly appear out of nowhere? And got admitted instantly? What tricks did he play again?
"Adam introduce yourself."
"Hi I'm Adam. I'll be joining you for just a month. I hope we get on good terms."
"Adam, you can sit over there for now."
"Ma'am may I sit beside her?"
Talking about pointing fingers at me? Hmm. Even if you're here at school, I won't let you off this time. You kept me single for over years.
"Oh, do you know Trix?"
"She's my baby."
Hmm. He even broadcasted to the whole classroom upon entering. My boss is truly insane. There's no need to keep off girls here since it is school and also he should atleast give them a chance. I know most of the girls here already has his attention.
"Trix since Adam knows you, why don't you show Adam around the campus."
"Excuse me ma'am but I don't have time today. I'm sure someone else is happy to show him around."
"Ma'am, I wanna volunteer. Since Trix is busy, I can show Adam around."
"Ma'am its fine, I can handle it. I've been here before. No need to show me around."
"Okay, Adam."
The classes have gone smoothly but the attentions on Adam. Looks like he really do excels in almost everything. I hope he can teach me some things do beside pissing me off and showing off.
One time, he called me secretly.
"Baby, come to the rooftop."
"Yes, Sir Adam. I'll be there in a minute."
It took me more than a minute since I did some paper works which was given by the teacher.
"Sorry I'm late, Sir Adam."
"You've kept me waiting for over thirty minutes, baby. You need to be punished. Now hand me over that lunch box, feed me with care and call me baby."
"Will do sir Adam."
"Your no fun baby. I really wish you'll amuse me yet you keep being formal to me and keeping distance from me. You know this is the first time I've got in this school yet you're keeping me away. You and I are classmates here. I know you work for me but we're the same age. Don't you like me?"
"I do like you sir Adam, very much. You inspire me to do better and I truly owe you that's why I'm keeping up the good work for me to repay you."
"If you're debt in me are repayed, will you still work for me? Will you still treat me as you're treating me now? Will you still formally talk to me? I've been in business since I was in high school. Always busy yet because of you, I've got to smile. Thanks Trix."
Did he just call me by my name? I thought he does not even remember my name.
I smiled at him and says.
"Even if my debt if repayed, I owe you more than the money. Because of you, mama is treated and is doing okay. I also am in college because of you. I'm eternally grateful to you Adam."
"Trix, do you only feel grateful to me? Don't you feel something much more? Trix think about it. I'll be waiting for you."
I never thought of him in that way and I've never imagined or dreamed to be his girlfriend. I just wanna repay him and that's it. I and he aren't compatible. It's better to stay at my current position rather than dreaming more.
