Chapter 2: Chapter 1

The soft pitter-patter on my window draw my attention away from the shouting downstairs. I look out my window and see the sky suddenly turned grey, it was sunny earlier, now I can hear the rumbling of thunder in the distance. I hear the voices get louder, my heart sinks into my shoes. My mother and her husband are at it again, they're having another fight. Probably something to do with me being an Omega. Since my test came back stating my sub-gender they started fighting a lot. I don't know what they're fighting about, but it's something to do with me. I can hear every nou and then something about "That damned Omega". I fall down on to my bed and try to block out the fighting. I hate it when they fight.

I hear a soft knock on my door, and my little sister, Stefanie, peeks around it, her eyes red from crying. My heart cracks seeing her like that, that's the main reason I hate them fighting, my sister doesn't deserve it. I move up a bit to make space on my bed and pat the space next to me. She sprints toward the bed and jumps on it. I cover her with my duvet and hug her tight, I feel tears burning my eyes but I blink them away. I wish I could take her to a different world, a world where there's peace and no fighting.

"Mika, I'm scared. I don't want them to fight. It's scary." she says in a small voice and I can hear she's crying again.

I hug her a little tighter and kiss her head. "Don't worry. I right hear and I won't let anyone hurt you. I'll always be right here. So close your eyes and get some sleep. I love you."

She snuggles into my chest " I love you too."

I hold her for a little longer until I hear her soft even breath. I quietly get of the bed and pulled the covers over her nicely. I walk towards my door and try to listen, but it's gone quiet downstairs. I'm a little frightened because my stepdad can get really mean. I slowly open my door and move outside and look back to make sure my sister's still sleeping. I close the door softly and head towards the stairs, as soft as I can to make sure no one hears me. I look around but I see no one. A little more relaxed I go to the living room. My mother is sitting on the couch with her face in her hands sobbing silently. I stand next to the couch still unheard. I kneel down in front of her and gently place my hands on her lap. She quickly looks up and I see her red eyes with some lingering tears and the cut on her lips and het red wrist that's starting to turn blue. I feel my breath get stuck in my throat and I can't breathe, my vision is blurry from my own tears I can't hold back anymore. I have never seen my mother like this, I never knew he was hitting her. Since my results came out I started hiding myself in my room.

"I'm so sorry Mom, I'm so sorry I couldn't be something else. I'm so sorry I turned out to be an Omega," I couldn't stop apologizing. My tears started running down my face.

My mother placed her hands on either side of my face and held my face close to hers. "You have nothing you should be sorry for. You are perfect to me and I love you no matter what. I won't let anyone hurt you or your sister. As long as I'm still alive I will protect you. Whether your an Omega or an Alpha, you will always be my son." she said, kissing my head and hugging me to her chest. I stayed there until I calmed down. When I was calm she let me go. When I looked up, my chest ached. I got up and went to get the first aid kit in the bathroom.

I started to clean my mother's face and bandage up her lip, I helped her to her bedroom and sat with her on the bed.

"Where did he go?" I asked after a while.

" To the pub just around the corner, don't worry he'll probably come home and then just pass out. You should also go to bed now, you have school tomorrow." She hugged me and I got up and walked to the door. "I love you." she said as I opened the door.

"I love you too, mom," I closed the door and went back to my room. I climbed in next to my sister and lie down for a while, until I finally drifted off to sleep. I woke up with a start when I heard a loud bang. I sat up in bed and looked over to my sister to make sure she's okay, when I saw her still fast asleep I got off the bed and creeped toward the door. I stood and listened for a while. I heard noises coming from my mother's room, but not very clear. I opened my door and went to their bedroom door and tried to listen again.

"Mike, please calm down. We can talk about it in the morning. You had to much to drink, please let's just go to bed," my mother said as she was trying to get him in bed. I heard a loud thump sound and my mother moans.

"Shut your mouth or I'll shut it for you. Don't tell me I'm drunk. I had a few drinks but I'm not drunk," I hear him stumble around. Suddenly the door opens and I stare at my stepdads angry face. His face turns to a nasty sneer and he pushes me into the wall hard. I can't breath for a few seconds, I try to regain my breath. I suddenly feel a burning sensation across my cheek, I taste the metallic taste of blood in my mouth before I could do anything I felt a iron grip around my throat blocking my airways. His face comes closer to mine, with the most horrible look I've ever seen.

"It's all your fault. Everything, it's all thanks to this filthy, little Omega. You should never have been born. With your gender you gave this family a bad name. I can't believe I let you stay under my roof, I should've put you out with the rest of the trash." he said, his grip becoming tighter around my throat. I started scratching at his hand trying to get him to let me go, but his grip only tightened. My eyes couldn't focus anymore and my mind was going blank.

" Mike, stop, your going to kill him. Please let go," my mother ran up to him and tried to pull him away from me, but only pushed her away causing her to bump into the wall and fall down. I took a chance and kicked with all the strength I had left, not aiming much. He let me go and I sunk to the floor and coughed, trying to catch my breath. When my vision cleared I saw him groaning and holding his privates. When he looked back at me a chill ran down my spine from the look he had in his eye. For a moment I couldn't move. But I got a feeling that I had to run for my life.
