Chapter 2: A Town Left Dead

In the late autumn of 1832, the town was mostly abandoned due to the slaughter that occurred at the park. The mayor knew what she did was for herself.

She needed to get away from the town but couldn't have anyone know but she didn't want it like this. Her fear got the best of her from that hellhound like devil that came a less than a year ago. If she refused his offer, he would have cursed her with something worse than just bad luck. Humfrie could leave now but a feeling swelled up within her, it was anger. The anger from letting her people walk into that death trap of a park. Humfrie stormed into her kitchen and grabbed a large knife, she then brought it down into her stomach. She felt a slight sting as she looked at the knife which was deep inside of her stomach, she slowly pulled it out and felt the area only to feel that the wound had already healed. There was still blood around her stomach and on the knife. Humfrie started to sob as she fell to her knees, dropping the knife to the floor. She wanted to die but knew that she couldn't since that hellhound demon had secretly cursed her with immortality.

She remembered that it was her doing that led her to become immortal since it was her desire to see the world but her mortality would run out because she was only human.

Humfrie stood up, determined to do something right instead of running away. She cleaned herself off and walked outside towards the park where the wolf was dancing around from the carnage he ensued upon the townsfolk. Humfrie walked up to the gate and yelled in anger. "WOLF! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU!?!" Her question was answered with the gate opening, she stomped up to the hellhound demon and stabbed him in the chest with the still bloodied knife. They both look at it as the wound bleeds a bright orange liquid which Humfrie figured out was his blood. She pulled the knife out and saw that the blade melted. "Fancy seeing you here, have you missed me already?" He asked as he grinned, eyes lighting up he looked down at Humfrie. "What have you done to me!" She demanded as she hit him repeatedly. His expression turned from a grin to annoyance as his tail grew in size and hit Humfrie, making her fly a few feet away, landing on her back. "Do not make me take back the gift I gave you" He said as he stared daggers at her, She got up as she saw that his tail was longer like a tentacle but his fur was made of spikes that were as sharp as sharpened obsidian. His tail reverted back to its normal state as he walked over to her, that look of pure annoyance on his face, she has never seen him like this. "Next time you annoy me like this, I'll do more than consume a town" He threatened her. "God will damn you!" Humfrie shouted at him, in return he smiled. "You think I fear God? God is the flea beneath my foot" He says as the blackened sky begins to rumble and groan. Humfrie got up and stared at the sky as the hellhound stabbed his cane into the ground.

"If God wanted to damn me, he would have banished me into the earth" He shouted to the sky as Humfrie quickly grabbed his cane and stabbed the creature in the back. His cries of pain sounded unearthly, the closest it sounded like was a wolf that's howling in pain combined with icebergs being dragged across the sea bed and a whale's cry. His tail grew out and stretched, growing spikes and scales as more tails grew out, Humfrie jumped out of the way before a tail slashed her in half. The creature's paws grasped the end of the cane that pierced his chest, glowing orange blood oozed out as the ground split beneath his feet. Humfrie watched in shock as the inky, black tendrils wrapped around the creature as he pulled his cane out and threw it before looking at Humfrie. "I'll return and when i do, this world will be mine!!!" He screamed as the hole closed and returned to normal. Humfrie stood up and looked around as the park withered and decayed, the sky went back to normal, she walked over and picked up the cane.

She walked back to her home and sat in her chair, placing the cane in front of her, the top of it was a clear ball that started to glow. Words appeared in a mist saying "To Humfrie, see ya real soon, from Hell" the cane stopped glowing as rain started to pull down heavily. Humfrie feared of what would happen if he came back, the world would be in danger. She looked down at the cane as lightning struck. She didn't want him to come back after what had happened, she would make sure that no way or how he'd come back. It was now her purpose in her immortal life, she is now the sole protector of the earth.

Many years skipped by as Humfrie watched the world mold into the modern and plain, its essence drained as cities were built on the lands she grew up on. Her once small town grew into her land, she had a massive mansion built on the grounds that she owned. Humfrie stayed away from other humans in fear that they will learn the truth about what has happened, learn about her immortality. She keeps to herself and keeps the cane in a display case in a private room of her mansion that only she knows where and how to enter it. What hurt Humfrie more in life was that she outlived her daughter, somewhere in the world, she has a descendant that she'll find and tell her the secrets about the past and the future of the world.
