Chapter 1: A journey of tragedy begins...
"Disrupt. step out onto the training grounds."
I step out slowly, making my way to the middle of the training grounds.
"On your paper, it says you have the ability to break anything you come into contact with. True or false?"
"True."
"Okay. We will be sending out three test robots. two will be villains, and one will be a citizen. you can tell them, apart by the color, villains are red and citizens are blue. we ask that you protect the citizens but, above all else, defeat the villains. Do you understand your assignment?"
"Yes, sir."
"Okay, the test will begin on the count of three. One. Two. Three. Begin."
Immediately two robots, the color of red. Run out of a huge door that was previously closed. I look for the blue robot but caint find it. I notice that the red robots look at me for a second or two, then run in a completely different direction.
They might be attracted to the blue robot in some type of way. I have to follow them.
I chased after them until all three of us came across the blue robot. Immediately, I smash my right hand to the ground, causing the ground beneath the red robots to collapse.
I then jump into the hole, shaped in a circle, about 7 feet deep.
One robot attempts to punch me, but I quickly dodge. Touching him with my left hand. The robot immediately explodes into little pieces, some of those pieces hitting both me and the other robot.
The last robot makes a poor attempt of trying to escape the hole. It also quickly explodes into little pieces.
Climbing my way out of the hole. I grab the blue robots hand and lead it back to where I was originally
"Great job. you managed to save the blue robot and defeat both red robots. You did exetremly well today."
"Thank you."
"You can make your way home now. Shining Justice."
Making my way outside of the huge building known as the Hero Society training grounds, I slowly walk home.
"pft Hero Society. it sounded like they wanted me to take out the villains more than save the civilian."
The Hero Society is like a school, but for people who have powers and wish to try and save people. The Hero Society is the only institution for heroes in my home state, Tennessee. But it's definitely one of the biggest and most famous institutions for heroes in this country.
I personally find the occurrence of abilities more fascinating. In 2134, it was discovered that a huge meteorite was headed straight for Earth. humans prepared to destroy parts of it with missiles, but the missiles managed to do absolutely nothing. humans did any and everything to stop it, but we managed to have no effect on the meteorite.
The whole world thought it was over, but when it hit the upper part of Mexico. it did absolutely nothing. Meteorologists and some of the smartest scientists attempted to try and find out why such a thing would happen. but when they got remotely close to the meteorite, they noticed purple smoke floating around. this purple smoke ended up spreading all throughout the western hemisphere.
Scientists nor meteorologists could explain the purple smoke or its effect until the next generation was born. babies started being able to shoot laser beams out of their hands and do all kinds of different abilities, not only did they have abilities but they also were born with superhuman strength, speed, durability, endurance, and even had a small healing factor.
After all this information came out, the US and Mexico had a back and forth about the meteorite being there's. Eventually, they came to terms. Both countries made a dome around the meteorite to cover the spread of any more smoke. It worked, but the damage was already dealt. By the time these superhuman babies became teenagers, they're were robberies and killings. The biggest problem was that nobody could stop them. Until the US made a hero institution, they tried to inspire other superhumans to become heroes so they could stop other superhumans, and the funny thing is it actually worked. Superhumans worked as heroes to stop these villains. Eventually, the US created even more institutions for heroes.
Pass 136 years, and now we are here. The world hasn't changed a bit. Heroes continue to fight villains, people get killed, buildings destroyed, and for what exactly? That's a question I have yet to answer.
I walk into my apartment and quickly change into normal wear. Looking into the mirror. I have black hair that reaches my eyes and pitch black eyes. I look away from the mirror and head towards the kitchen, I haven't eaten in a while, I make myself a simple pb&j.
While eating, I discussed with myself whether I passed both written and physical tests. well, the physical test was simple, defeating the villains, but the writing test was decently hard. one thing I don't understand, though, is why they wanted me to take out the villains more than protect the civilian.
Anyways I quickly finish up my pb&j and go to sleep.
I wake up to my alarm, absolutely destroying my ears, I quickly turn it off and get ready for work. I have a part-time job working as a guard for a pizza place. it's very common for superhumans to get a part-time job guarding considering how high the percentage of robberies went up when we were born.
While walking, I started to think about getting a real job but decide against it because I might get into the Hero Society.
I finally reached the store and noticed Matthew is working today.
"Great."
I walk into the restaurant and sit down at a table near the door.
"OH, hello Daniel, I didn't see you walk in. How's the freak of nature doing today?"
"Shut the hell up."
"Excuse me. As far as I know, you want your little secret to be well a secret, don't you?"
"Yes. It'll stay a secret to won't it?"
"Lose the attitude, and it will."
I let out a huge sigh. I'm trying to keep the fact that I have powers a secret. That's why I wear a mask that covers my complete face when I do hero deeds. The only people that know are Matthew and my boss, and I tend to keep it that way.
After hours of waiting for my shift to end, it finally does. I walk out looking at the time. 3:38 While looking down at my phone, I realized that I have a notification. I open it, and it reads as follows.
Good day, mister. Disrupt.
We get the honor of being the first to congratulate you on passing both Hero Society exams with the best scores out of 1,240 people who went. you will be firmly accepted into our new class of the year 2270
Please have a good rest of your day.

"Yes!"
oops, I said that out loud, but yes, I get to join the Hero Society. I hope this goes well.

FG_Frost for anybody who's confused about the whole meteorite not destroying the earth ordeal, I promise that will be explained much later in the story. the reason why it's not explained there is because nobody knows why at the moment. but yeah, I hope you guys enjoy it, and pls stick around because it's going to get really good in a couple of days.
