Chapter 132: February 14, 2021: Circuitous

More than astoundment, Syn felt confused upon hearing Kara's words. Her head became crowded with questions as to what the woman was planning by revealing that information. The lady's hands, that were sitting quietly on her lap, crumpled into fists so tightly that her knuckles were slowly turning white. 

In good time, her mind was cleared off of the clutter made by the abrupt turmoil in her emotions. She could now find the appropriate words to refute Kara's remarks. However, it seemed that her mouth refused to cooperate with her newly discovered resolve. On top of being unable to summon her voice, the tip of her tongue held on to what she wanted to say with eagerness. On this occasion, she wasn't bothered by the fact that someone else could hear their conversation. Her confusion that evolved into anxiety crawled from the bottom of feet, making her tremble as they went on their way up to her head.
