Chapter 48: Magic Ancestor

'This boy is cultivating while everybody else is enjoying the festival? Incredible, such diligence. I wonder if I can pull him into my Mystic Medicine Hall...He'll make a fine alchemist as long he keeps this diligence around.' Hajime Habu thought to himself.

He was just walking around the vicinity, marveling at the area's scenery, when he sensed a change in the world's energy levels.

An abundant amount of world energy was gathering towards somewhere.

Curious, Hajime followed his senses till it brought him to Willford.

Or more accurately, Blake.

Willford was just in the vicinity at the time.

But since the surrounding area was dark, Hajime was only able to spot Willford and not Blake. Heck, even his senses were tricked.

Since Willford was all that Hajime could see at the time, he thought that Willford was the one who was gathering and absorbing large amounts of world energy at a time.

This in turn allowed Blake to stop his meditation and disappear from his current location.

"Did my friend catch your eye, Habu-dono?" Blake asked Hajime while slowly walking out of a tree's shadow.

"Doesn't Habu-dono sounds a bit too formal for your stature, Mr. Magic Emperor?"

"I can call you anything I want, kid. Don't fuss about the small details while dealing with an orca."

"An orca, you say? Heh, maybe the common folk will accept your analogy but I…No, us Martial Generals and Magic Kings can only think of you as a megalodon, a grand being only found in ancient times."

"Have I gotten that popular recently? Hmm, all I did was win a few school competitions here and there…I didn't think that my actions would attract the sharks of this era."

"What can I say? Your excellence has transcended time and space. Everyone with a bit of status would know of your past deeds, Angel Executioner."

The moment Hajime spoke of Blake's old title, Blake's face turned solemn as the surrounding pressure grew extremely heavy.

'What intense spiritual pressure!' Despite being a Magic King himself, Hajime's knees buckled at the sight of Blake's spiritual pressure.

"Ah, now I understand everything…The ants found ancient scrolls about a lion, wanting to challenge this lion with their current might. Unbeknown to them, the lion has evolved into a dragon."

As Blake muttered to himself, the spiritual pressure weighing on Hajime increased by two fold, forcing the leader of Mystic Medicine Hall to be glued to the cold, wet ground beneath him.

"Ugh, you..you brat! Release me this instance! Do you know where are we right now? We are in my Mystic Medicine Hall's territory! If you release me right now, I can still forgive you for your crude behavior and–Gah!"

The spiritual pressure increased by three fold this time.

Hajime could hear his bones slowly crack under the intense spiritual weight. Blake was looking down at him at this moment.

Sadly, Hajime was unable to see the wicked smile plastered on Blake's calm face due to the area being dark.

Blake's wicked expression was soon replaced by cheerful laughter.

"Hahaha, you must really think you're something huh? So what if we're in your territory? Can your hall members save you from me? Who's actions will be faster? Me killing you or your members killing me? Please use that brain of yours and think."

Hearing Blake's words, Hajime's frustration was replaced by fear.

Blake made a valid point.

If Blake wanted to, he could kill Hajime here without letting anyone know.

And even if somebody knew and reported to Mystic Medicine Hall, Blake would just go over there and destroy the entire sect in one night.

Short, clean and simple. Blake had a lot of choices on how to deal with a 1st class sect easily.

As for his classmate next to them, Willford was currently in deep meditation so Blake didn't have to worry about him slipping up either.

"Oooh, it's a full moon today. I should enjoy its beauty while it's still there." Blake said to himself.

So while the leader of Mystic Medicine Hall was pinned to the ground to the side, Blake had taken out a longsword out of his storage space.

Sitting cross legged next to Willford, Blake took a deep breath to calm his mind down before he started injecting his magic qi into the longsword bit by bit.

'This brat…to think that he's refining an artifact in front of me! His gall is too big!' Hajime cursed Blake within his heart.

Not only did his plan to recruit Willford to join his sect was interrupted by Blake, he had even managed to piss Blake off which he didn't think was even possible to begin with.

His sect's records stated that the Angel Executioner was a calm man, seeking justice everywhere he went.

His enemies called him crazy, the world deemed him as mad.

But his allies knew the truth. That the Angel Executioner was a kind soul, wanting to make the world a better place with the cost of his life.

Hajime didn't know what went wrong. He thought that his ancestors were delusional. The Angel Executioner was, and always will be mad.

"I can tell what you're thinking." Blake suddenly interjected.

"Huh?" Startled, Hajime asked. "What am I thinking?"

"That I'm mad, insane. A crazy fellow that attacks his allies."

"..."

"That idea is false."

"How can you prove it? You attacked me despite knowing that my ancestor was your ally."

"Emperor Vigor has nothing to do with this. He was indeed my ally. But that doesn't mean I consider his sect to be my allies."

"..."

"Vigor was a great friend who continued to stay by my side even after he had reached the peak of alchemy. He taught me how to make pills and elixirs whenever I was free. He earned my respect by going up against the world with me."

"Habu-dono however, acted high and mighty just now, despite knowing my identity and deeds. I don't like arrogant people. They always bark but can't bite. Useless fools who think they're on top of the world. Hajime-san, you're one of them."

Blake paused for a moment before continuing on.

"Emperor Vigor deserved my respect. You however, deserve death as I now sever my old ties with Mystic Medicine Hall."

"You..." Hajime couldn't help but widened his eyes in shock.

He felt a cold sting on his neck. He tried to check out his neck, but realized that he couldn't feel his arms, much less move it.

Words wouldn't come out of his mouth no matter how hard he tried to move his mouth.

Hajime Habu had his neck severed and died shortly after.

"Mhm, the refined Sloth is really good. Light yet sharp, perfect for assassinations on a rainy day."

Sloth was the name of the longsword artifact Blake was refining while enjoying the full moon.

He only needed to inject a little bit of his mana into the longsword to kill a Magic King.

'Sloth suits the longsword perfectly.' Blake thought to himself.

Unbeknownst to Blake, Sloth's successful refinement shattered the wall blocking his cultivation path, thus allowing him to break through to the next great realm.

Blake was now a Magic Ancestor.
