Chapter 26: Chapter no.27 Surviving

The battlefield was a scene of destruction, with debris scattered everywhere and the ground beneath them cracked and scarred from the intense battle. The sky above was dark and stormy, mirroring the chaos on the ground below. Lin Lai and Zhongli were locked in a fierce struggle against the towering, monstrous Lin Lingtian.

Lin Lai had conjured a longbow made entirely from flames, the bowstring seemed to be made from fire too as the arrowheads were made from pure fire. Her fingers were swift and precise as she pulled back on the bowstring and released arrow after arrow, each one striking true and causing Lin Lingtian to roar in pain as the arrows struck his body. Her eyes were focused, her movements fluid and graceful as she danced around the battlefield, dodging Lin Lingtian's attacks and striking back with her fiery arrows.

Zhongli, on the other hand, was wielding the Ashura Body martial art technique in conjunction with Demonic Qi to unleash devastating shockwaves of spiritual Qi upon the enemy. His body was covered in an ethereal armor, his four extra arms were like that of an asura as they unleashed a barrage of shockwaves. Each shockwave exploded against Lin Lingtian's armor, causing him to stumble and roar in anger. The Bowman controlled his puppets to maneuver the two, Lin Lai and Zhongli, as they fought for survival.

The two were covered in sweat and grime, their bodies aching from the constant strain of battle. Lin Lingtian's initial attack of using Body Paralysis talismans was working like a charm on the trio. They were struggling to make a dent in his defenses, and every attack seemed to bounce off of his powerful body. But they knew that they couldn't give up, not now. If they failed, the consequences would be dire.

With fierce determination, Lin Lai and Zhongli renewed their assault on Lin Lingtian. The sound of arrows whistling through the air and the deafening roar of spiritual Qi explosions filled the battlefield as they fought with everything they had. The ground beneath them trembled and shook as they battled, the very air around them seemed to crackle with energy.

But Lin Lingtian was not defeated yet. He swung his arms as clouds seemingly shot out sending Lin Lai flying through the air. She crashed to the ground, her body battered and bruised. Zhongli tried to come to her aid, but Lin Lingtian was too fast, and he slammed his fist into the ground, sending a shockwave of energy that sent Zhongli as well.

As the two fighters lay there, battered and helpless, Lin Lingtian loomed over them, ready to deliver the final blow. But just as he was about to strike, something unexpected happened.

Zhongli placed his hand on Lin Lai's bleeding body and began to absorb some of her power.

Lin Lingtian raised an eyebrow at the act before he jumped back as the Bowman unleashed a barrage of arrows at the manifestation realm expert.

Zhongli suddenly stood up as a wave of power began to exude out of him as he burned away the blood he had absorbed from the Lin Lai to temporarily increase his strength.

Zhongli's fist crashed into Lin Lingtian's body taking the wind out of Lin Lingtian's body.

With a fierce battle cry, Zhongli channeled all of the five attributed elements alongside Demonic Qi into his fists as he performed the first Technique of the Ashura Body Technique.

Swirls of Energy channeled around Zhongli's fist in the form of armor as he lashed out with his strongest attack.

Mid-air, Lin Lingtian smiled as clouds seemingly contorted around his body creating body-Esque armor as Lin Lingtian's body was thrown from the fields to the abandoned city in the back.

Zhongli looked on in amazement, finally able to catch his breath and gather his strength.

The battle was won.

" Kekekekeeke!"

An eerie laughter followed the battle as Zhongli and the Bowman looked up to see Lin Lingtian slowly rising to the sky.

An omnidirectional wave of despair released from Lin Lingtian as he began to break through to the Heavenly Yuan Realm.

Zhongli turned towards the Bowman.

The Bowman nodded as he began to form an inscription array on his puppets while Zhongli gritted his teeth. Even if his body was still partially paralyzed, he picked up Lin Lai's unconscious body and began to run with the Bowman running in the other direction.

As lightning began to descend from the sky onto Lin Lingtian's body.

Meanwhile, Zhongli didn't dare look back as he kept running, the fields began to shift into a bamboo forest as Zhongli ran with everything he got.

He needed to survive.

Zhongli glanced at Lin Lai's body, if he could absorb her blood then he might be able to break through into the Manifestation realm but would that guarantee his survival against that monster?

The bamboo forest was a blur as Zhongli ran with all his might, carrying the unconscious Lin Lai in his arms. The sound of Lin Lingtian's laughter echoed through the forest, causing Zhongli's heart to race with fear. He knew that he couldn't outrun Lin Lingtian for long, and he needed to come up with a plan.

As he reached the edge of a cliff, Zhongli stopped abruptly as he heard a sharp, piercing sound. He felt a sense of danger wash over him, and without hesitation, he jumped into the water below. The cliff he had been standing on was suddenly cleaved in half by a giant longsword made of clouds, wielded by Lin Lingtian.

Arriving on the cleaved cliff, Lin Lingtian snapped his fingers and the giant longsword disappeared. He looked down at the waters and thought that those two must be dead. With a sigh at losing toys that he could test his new powers on, Lin Lingtian turned back as multiple puppets attacked him.
