Chapter 1: Chapter 1
A loud crash broke the peacefulness of nature in the middle of the jungle the moment a private plane fell on the ground. It was silent for a while until some movements inside the broken down plane broke it. In the pilot compartment Tinashe felt suffocated with the smoke. The movements beside her woke her up and her mind was a bit hazy. Her eyes slowly opened and she watched the other pilot walk out coughing. The smoke inside was almost blinding and choking. She tried to move but she was stuck.
On the other side Amy threw herself into Jin's arms when she saw a snake through the window. "Oh no, no, no please don't tell me this is going to be a more realistic scene of anaconda." Her fearful voice sounded and Jin said something to calm her down.
"That's a black mamba." Said Ash, Jin's friend as he also struggled to get up.
"Help!" Tinashe called weakly looking behind to see if the others were ok. Seeing her husband carefully carrying his beloved mistress out while his best friend supported his own wife out she felt a little silly for being jealous.
She was left all alone in the broken airplane, the middle aged male pilot had already saved himself after causing everything. She couldn't believe this was her end.
A self mocking smile lifted her lips as tears shone in her eyes. Why had she even insisted on making the trip when it was supposed to be a double date? Her husband and his mistress, his best friend and his wife. She had been left out at the hotel in Cape Town on her own long awaited honeymoon and just had to be the fifth wheel making herself the co-pilot. It seemed karma stroke so soon, if that was even a thing.
Although she had known that Jin had someone he loved dearly, just so that she could get her selfish love she had agreed to the arranged marriage when she knew that he might have been hoping for her refusal to be saved from the marriage. Her parents would never force her. Now three months into the marriage Jin was still with Amy and she was still the shameless third wheel who disrupted that lovely couple. Still she didn't want to give up on him. Even right now when he didn't even try to look for her in such a dangerous situation.
The first thing he thought of was his delicate mistress whom he always treated like an angel. He didn't even look back when she called out for help as he was agitated seeing his mistress scared land scratched on her precious forehead.
After a while she realised that no one was really coming back to save her this time. She was going to have to find a way to save herself. She could barely feel her legs anymore as they had turned numb but she tried the pull herself out. The leaking fuel assaulted her nose and unfortunately the fuel was flowing in the direction the fire had started. She started freaking out and moved even faster whispering a prayer as she scrambled to get herself out of the position she was in. Big teardrops fell from her eyes silently. She tried to move the things on her legs but they didn't budge. Her silent cries turned into sobs and the panic made her agitated.
She knew the moment the fuel get to the fire it will be the end for her. She could not even imagine how her parents would feel since she was their only child. She didn't know if it was the prayer but she was finally able to free her legs after some time and the short heeled boots a few inches above her ankles was cut. She had to thank God she had worn those otherwise it would have been her leg that was cut.
After what seemed like a long time she crawled out of the pilot compartment. She felt a little pain in her numb legs so she couldn't really get up yet. She picked her backpack before she found her way out of the plane. She looked around but saw no one close by, luckily she could tell where the others had gone and finally got up and limped that way.
Tinashe's heart was beating so fast and she kept looking behind her to see if she was far enough and wiped her tears. Suddenly she bumped her head into someone's hard chest and the person held her still so that she wouldn't fall. When she looked up she saw Jin's worried face. He was in all black, a slim fit black formal trousers and a matching shirt with rolled up sleeves. A shiny diamond stud on his left ear. He was holding his blazer out of habit or had forgotten to leave it.
Before she could even celebrate that at least he cared for her enough to look for her, she heard him say, "I forgot to take Amy's iPad. It has her latest work."
Her heart dropped. Alas, she even lost to his mistress's iPad. She didn't dwell on that too much though and hugged his arm protectively, "You can't go back in there, Jin Nan. It might explode!" more tears gushed out of her eyes and the man didn't even look at her for long.
He roughly pushed her hands away making her fall on the ground at the same time. Tinashe was left shocked in place. He had left anyway. She couldn't even begin to try and understand just how disappointed she felt at the moment. He had even put his life in danger for an iPad just because it belonged to his mistress and had her designs.
It didn't take time and a loud explosion sounded, the moment she turned to look, a mushroom-like black smoke rose in the air and Jin was thrown on the ground because of the impact. Still he held that iPad as if he was holding onto his dear life. "Jin Nan!" she screamed his name rushing to his side. "Are you crazy? What's wrong with you?"
"I told you to never call me that." He had already gotten up to his feet when she came to his side trying to check if he had any wounds. He pushed her hands away with the cold words and added, "Call me Mr Han."
Tinashe froze. It wasn't the first time though. Ever since they met he had been like that. Trying by every means to draw a clear line between them and just like before, even now she forced herself to look nonchalant and shrugged, "You're my husband, it would be awkward to call you that way." The moment she turned she saw Amy standing behind her with bloodshot eyes. Without care she ran and embraced Jin tightly. It was clear how worried she was for him.
Tinashe felt like the other woman and felt it ridiculous to hang around so she turned to leave.
