Chapter 2: 2: First step
"No!...." Eve woke up in the middle of night and started to cough.
"Milady...." It was Anna. Her maidservant who died cruelly under Mary scheme.
"Anna...." Eve pulled Anna into a tight hug and asked for a glass of water and request for a bath.
"B-but....It's 3 O'clock in the morning...." Anna said to Eve as she just smiles and insist to take a warm bath..
"I....I...just prepare it. A bath should be sufficient. I want to soak myself...I want to forget that nightmare" Anna nodded as Eve get up from her bed and walked to the window. It's been a week since she woke up from that nightmare or to be precise, she return back to when Mary is not arrived yet which is supposed to be today but Eve still don't have the courage to accept this reality.
Mary and Eve is a twin but got separated when they were just a toddler. Mary has the finest golden hair and ruby eyes spitting the image of the Grandduke Morgan. Eve was different. She has a silver hair with a ruby eyes which inherited from her mother, Rosie Luberth but her body condition which makes her family never look at her. Even when Eve did not eat anything for three days, she continued to get fat but that happened after Mary arrived as if she was fed with some witchcraft food and when Eve accidently cured, there where the nightmare started. Mary accused Eve to be involve in witchcraft and illegal doings.
"My lady...." Anna called out for her poor lady. Even when the lady health deteriorate to this point none of her family care for her.
"Thank you, Anna" Anna was taken aback but could not help but smile as she escorts her lady to take her cold icy bath. The reason why Eve took this bath even when she ill is because she don't want to come out.
After soaked in the cold icy bath for two hours, Eve get out from the bath tub and dressed in a thin light nightgown and straight back to sleep. When the morning comes, a servant was sent to Eve room. It's the duke butler, David.
"I'm sorry but Lady Eve is still weak to get up because her condition deteriorated" Anna said to David as he nodded and walked away.
"It's been a week and she still sick?" Luke said after being informed by David about Eve health. Luke is the duke eldest son and first in line to be the next head of Morgan clan.
"Investigate if she's really sick" Duchess Rosie said in a cold tone as David nodded and walked away. Duke Morgan did not say anything and continued to eat.
"Duke, Lady Mary has arrived" Duchess Rosie was the first to get up and ran to the door to greet her long lost child and when she saw her, there is no mistake, she is her child. She spit the image of his husband.
"Mary greet Mother and Father" Mary said in a cheerful tone as Rosie come forward to hug her. Since the happy reunion ends, Mary has been trying to visit Eve but always get rejected by Anna and two weeks passed just like that and in the meantime, David reported to the Duke that Eve was truly ill.
"Anna go to slums district and then find a granny in a weird shop. Do not say anything and just asked for "deadly needle". The item that Eve need right now is the one and only way for her to stay alive. why? A deadly needle is not only a weapon for self defense but it can contribute to medical treatment but the reason why Eve needs it because of it unique traits.
In her past life, Someone used Deadly needle to kill their emotions to make people to feel as if they are talking to a broken doll. It was once used by a spy from the imperial knights. He is called the Moonlight Killer. Eve know if she used it, there's a chance that her emotions might not return but it is better than death itself.
Someone knocked on Eve's door as Anna went to see the person. Eve was currently practicing her sword outside which is at her own courtyard. Eve room was very far from the other which Eve thanked to her past self for requesting to be placed there. She renovated her place and makes her own courtyard. Eve was actually planning to make it small but the workers thought that Eve planning to makes a field for horse ridding practice and so that how it turn into wide green field.
"Lady Eve. Its time for breakfast" Anna said with a straight tone. Last night was so intense between Anna and Eve. Anna refused to agree if Eve use the deadly needle if she is not included. she rather follow and die with her master than having to serve another master and so Eve finally used it on both of them. How Eve know how to do it? Eve actually an intelligent girl and she had this skill of being able to remember anything she saw. For an example just by reading a thousand books and without a single mistake, she can perfectly rewrite it back.
"Sure" From Eve's eyes, people will think that she is someone who is arrogant but it enhance the nobility auras around her.
"Goodmorning Duke" Eve's appearance was a little unexpected but it didn't stop their cheerful conversation with Mary as Eve continued to eat and after finishing her food she excused herself but stopped by Mary.
"Sister...where are you going?" Mary asked her as Eve turned around facing them with her dead eyes. Rosie was startled and just realize that there is something off with Eve.
"I am practicing my swordplay. I have my horse riding class too also I have a meeting with Sir Konrad about my enlistment and oh! I nearly forgot...I have an audience with the King. Please excuse me" Eve's response towards Mary question really shocked them as Leon asked in return.
"What happen to you?" Leon asked with her without looking at her way. Eve tilted her head and answered back without blinking her eyes.
"what do you mean?" Duke Morgan finally looked at her eldest daughter.
"I am going to meet the King now. Making the King wait for too long is not good, right Duke?" When Eve called the Duke, It nearly makes Duchess Rosie fall down her seat.
"Hmm" Duke Morgan did not say anything and continued eating.
"Thank You, Duke. Then I shall go now" Eve's demeanor was close to a Killer and it actually makes Dyroth shiver while staring at her eyes. 'Why...' His hand was shivering and he excused himself.
