Chapter 19: Chapter 17
Dana loves coming to work before everyone else. The entire executive floor is peaceful and it is free from the daily chaos they deal with every day.
She would normally have her morning coffee, sipping it while looking outside as the rest of the business district starts its daily grind. Sometimes she would even play her favorite acoustic playlist to set her mood for the day.
She glanced at her wristwatch, she still had about twenty minutes more before the president arrived. Keith will arrive on the dot everyday no matter what time he left work the day before.
She sat on her desk and was about to turn on her playlist when she heard the sound of the lift signaling it's arrival to the executive floor. Dana frowned, as this is excessively early for Keith to arrive. Do they have any emergencies or something?
Keith walked out of the elevator, unbothered by the surprised look on his secretary. "Dana, call the human resources and ask them to give me the list of all newly hired employees for the last twelve months.'' Keith ordered as soon as he arrived, stopping just in front of Dana's desk which is situated right outside his office.
"Yes Mr. President." Dana responded quickly, on professional mode already as if this is nothing unusual from Keith. "Do I need to include the interns as well?" Dana asked efficiently, she's not sure what this is about but in case Keith asks again, better ask him now just to be sure.
"Interns?" Keith asked. When he saw the Omega yesterday, he was sure he was probably a new employee as it was his first time meeting him that night. He assessed the Omega to be young, that is why he only asked for a recently hired employee, but he totally forgot the possibility of him being a student. Then again, he remembered encountering his scent from that convenience store near the university when he picked up Jules. "Okay, include them. Ask them to send it to me within an hour."
Within the hour? Dana wanted to complain, does her boss know that it is still too early and that the members of the human resource department would probably come in only in the next hour. She inhaled before responding to Keith with her professional smile plastered on her face. She's already planning inside her head on how to drag the human resource manager to the office in ten minutes.

Two minutes before the one-hour deadline set by Keith, the human resource manager arrived at the executive floor, he almost fell as he rushed to bring the folder to Dana's hands. He heaved a sigh of relief when has able to transfer the file to Dana's hands and confirmed with his own eyes as Dana entered the president office. Only then, he was able to breathe again.
Keith quickly browsed to the list of newly hired employees, when he didn't find the Omega he was looking for, he put down the folder and tried to calm himself down before he moved on to the Intern's list. He has been looking for him for almost a month, this is the closest lead he had and he would not want to be disappointed immediately.
As he scanned through the list, his heart was pounding so hard. Most of the interns are all Alphas and Betas; he is almost at the last two profile pages when he finally found an Omega. However, the first Omega he found is not the one he was looking for. He took a deep breath then flipped through the last page. The familiar face of the Omega he has been searching for greeted him as hold the last piece of paper in his hands. Finally!

"What? Are you sure about this? Okay! Okay! I understand." Dwight cursed loudly as soon as he put down the phone receiver. If not for the high compensation and the influence of his Uncle on this company, which allows him to do whatever he wants; he would definitely leave and find employment elsewhere. The president would always require them to do his bidding whenever he wanted. Just like now, the president's secretary just told him that the president would like to have their scheduled monthly presentation today in the afternoon. Their schedule is supposed to be in the coming week.
"April, ready all the reports we have for the last month's result and prepare whatever you have for the next month's target." He instructed the assistant manager. "Everyone block your calendar, we will be having a meeting with the president at three o'clock in the afternoon."
"Sir, all of us? Including them?" One of the employees asked, pointing at the two Omegas.
"Yes, the president's secretary said all of us, including the interns." Dwight confirmed. He is as confused as the employee who asked. Normally when they have the monthly meeting with the president, it would just be him; April and two of the senior analysts. He was unsure about what the secretary told him that he had to double confirm.
Dan wanted to ask Alex about what he thinks of the upcoming meeting, as it seems everyone is rushing to prepare for it. They even received a lot of tasks to contribute to the preparation. He wanted to talk to his best friend but couldn't bring himself to speak.
He can't dare to talk to Alex as he's feeling ashamed about what happened yesterday for so many reasons. He can't tell his best friend about what Eric did, how he tried to sell him off, because if Alex knew, he would definitely confront his ex. He's too ashamed for Alex to know that he almost became a prostitute because of Eric, when Alex has told him numerous times to break things off with him. Another thing that is bugging him is the fact the he met Alex's mate yesterday as well. He can't admit the truth that for a moment he thought how sexy the Alpha is. Alex might be hiding from him, but he is still Alex's mate. He should be off limits and shouldn't have dirty thoughts about him no matter how brief that is.
Meanwhile, Alex is having a similar situation on his end. He can't bring himself to talk to Dan about what transcribed yesterday as he was heading out from work. He can't admit that he was anxious since he entered the building, afraid that he might run into the Alpha again today. He can't believe that of all places he would encounter him again while he's doing his internship.
The two Omega just sighed deeply much to the concern of April, the assistant manager. In her mind, she thinks that the two Omegas are scared of attending their first department meeting. He mentally takes a note to brief them later before the meeting starts and ensure that they would be calm enough to understand the meeting.

Martin arrived at the Andersen Tower, three hours after Keith. He was late as he went back again to Dan's apartment to try to make him talk. He can sense that the Omega is hiding something from him. He still can recall the surprised look on Dan's face when he told him that he was looking for the Omega that got bonded at the bar that night about a month ago. His demeanor changed from being grateful for saving him to avoiding him like a plague.
"I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't know of any Omega that got bonded with someone from the bar. I don't even know the names of my coworkers so just leave me alone." Dan said to him when he saw Martin waiting outside his building this morning.
"Sorry I'm late. I went to check the latest lead I have on the Omega." Martin said as soon as he came into Keith's office.
"You can stop the search. Just go back to your work." Keith responded while signing the documents on his desk.
"Why? I finally found a lead on the search." Martin asked incredulously. Is Keith not interested anymore? He was in a bad mood for almost a month now, and suddenly he's back to normal, as if nothing happened. He suddenly felt bad for Dan Stevens. He just had a horrifying experience yesterday thanks to his now ex-boyfriend and now Keith is probably losing interest in him as well. Well that is if Dan is Keith's mate.
"I found him already.' Keith stated matter of factly just as Martin was about to argue with him on stopping the search. So, that means Dan is not Keith's mate and Dan really has no idea about the Omega he was looking for? "How did you find him?" He asked curiously. He has been interviewing a lot of people, checking on every possible lead he could find for the last month. He was almost on the verge of believing that the Omega does not exist and now Keith found him just like that.
"I met him yesterday." Keith explained what has happened yesterday and how he was able to find him. "I'm meeting him later today."
"He agreed to meet with you?" Martin is getting more confused. After hiding for almost, the Omega just agreed to meet just like that?
"Well, he doesn't know we're meeting each other." Keith grinned. He's never been this eager to attend a department meeting.
Martin just stares at his boss/friend amuse and still confused. He better find a way to join in on that meeting to see what is going to happen.
